Project 365: August 31- September 6

August 31: We let our caterpillars go into the wild. Best of luck, little buddies! ♦ September 1: Checking out grasshoppers with Daddy. They are less scary than frogs, as it turns out. ♦ September 2: Working on staying inside the lines. ♦ September 3: Play date with our favouritest little friend, Ryland, and his lovely momma! ♦ September 4: Feeding the ducks, working on her knuckleball. ♦ September 5: What a sappy boy.♦ September 6: The amazing weather was probably the only good thing about this round of golf.

TGIF v.2

The high of my week was finding the time to do a quick 30 minute yoga series. I’ve been so stiff and sore lately that I really needed just a good stretch. When I was done I felt like I was inches taller! If you’re looking for a great online source for free yoga classes, check out Yoga Download!

The low of my week was being duped out of a car sale. Kyle and I have been in the market for a new (to us) car to replace our ’04 Ford Focus, and we had found a great car in Maple Ridge for a great price. We contacted the owner, made a deal on the price, and made arrangements to go get it on Saturday. Then on Wednesday the guy emails me and tells me “as a heads up” that he has someone coming to look at it on Thursday, so he’ll let me know how it goes. Apparently he didn’t mean it when he wrote, “We have a deal” on Tuesday. Long story short, we told him that we would no longer be making the 6-hour (round trip) drive down to buy the car. I was pretty bummed about it, but if the guy was an ass through emails, he’s probably a bigger ass in person.

A blog post I loved was this one on First Birthday plans by Colleen. She’s a lovely DIY blogger who lives right here in Kamloops, and her projects are so pretty and SIMPLE! I am not a crafty person at all but she makes everything so foolproof! Anyway, her adorable twins are turning 1-year old soon and I just love the theme she has picked out for their special day.

The best money I spent was on the Halloween costume I got for Isla, which I had mentioned in last week’s TGIF post. I put it on her just to make sure she would tolerate wearing it (because kids are weird), and she LOVED IT. She got so upset when it was time to take it off. I’m going to wait until Halloween to take post photos of her actually wearing it, but here’s the finished product:

Ridiculously cute, no??!

My favourite Isla moment was feeding the ducks at the pond on Thursday! We went to the park last week and didn’t realize how many ducks and geese were actually living in the pond, so this week I grabbed all the heels and scrap pieces of bread I could find in the house and we fed them. Isla thought it was great! I took a little video of our outing too, so enjoy!

My favourite meal of the week was the homemade pizza I made on Monday! Again, I forget to take a photo (because I try not to be THAT person, heh heh), but I promise, it was tasty! Homemade dough (via the bread maker because I made it while Isla was napping and my KitchenAid mixer is noisy), with all sorts of yummy veggies and ground beef on top. Nom nom nom!

My plans for the weekend are golfing tomorrow! Kyle came home from work yesterday and told me that his work buddy had made us a tee time for Saturday, which was a lovely surprise! I’ve only been once this summer, so it will be nice to be able to go again before the season really winds down. My mom also gets home from her holidays this weekend so I (and Isla) can’t wait to see her. I also have ball Sunday night, so I’m looking forward to that as well!!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Have I mentioned before that 2-year olds are a piece of work sometimes? Seriously, some of the things that come of out Isla’s mouth are both hilarious and bizarre. Needless to say, here’s another edition of Out of the Mouths of Babes!

While I’m sitting at the computer working on a column:
Isla: Uh-oh, Mommy! There’s a bug! (She then walks up to me and wipes bug guts on my arm.)

While eating hot dogs for lunch, cows walk by behind our house…
Me: Look Isla, cows!!
Her: MOOOO!
Me: We eat cows, you know.
Her: Uh-huh.
Me: You know, your hot dog is also a cow.
Her: *blank, confused stare*

In Target, while I’m kneeling/squatting down looking at nail polish…
Her: You going potty, Mommy?
Me: No, Isla, I’m not going potty.
Her: MOMMY POOPING!

While in the hardware store, walking down the bulk nuts & bolts aisle…
Her: Look, Mommy! (Pointing at the random nuts & bolts)
Me: Those are nuts and bolts. We don’t need any of those!
Her: They’re BEEAAUUUtiful!

While at the dinner table, she stops what she’s doing and out of nowhere exclaims:
“Mommy?! YOU’RE DRUNK!”
