Listy Friday

– I quite enjoy opening up WordPress and seeing what bizarre search terms that have brought people to my blog.  Some resent search terms include: “peeing during labor,” “full grown malamute dogs,” “roast chicken slow cooker low food poisoning,”and “postpartum didn’t know i was urinating.” Good to know that I’m the go-to blog for urination.

– Have I posted a side-by-side of how much my feet have changed in size since giving birth? The photo on the left was taken when I was about 38 weeks pregnant. The photo on the right was taken about 2 weeks post-partum. It’s amazing to me to see the difference! You’d never think those feet belong to the same person.

– On Saturday, Kyle discovered that a pack rat has been living in our shed. It was a ballsy little bugger, staring right at us and not really bothering to run away. We put Campbell’s terrier capabilities to the test and tried to get him to hunt it, but he was just curious more than anything. So, unfortunately, we had to go buy a trap to kill the little bugger. Yeah – We kill rodents. They carry disease, they make a mess of things … so yeah. Sorry animal lovers. Here’s a photo I managed to take of him before we set the trap (obviously). He’s cute, but YUCK. We did end up catching him yesterday.

– I’m so not a fan of the Summer Olympics, but since there’s nothing else on TV because of them, I’m stuck watching them. (Woes of Maternity Leave!) I don’t know if I can pick a favourite event though. Maybe gymnastics or diving? The way they manage to flip their bodies around without breaking their necks amazes me.

– Tomorrow Isla is going on her first road trip! Well, we’re only going an hour out of town to visit my grandpa, but still – it will be her first out of town venture! I’m excited for it, and so glad that my mom is coming as well. I have a feeling I’m going to pack way to much stuff to bring just for a few hours, but better too much than not enough, right? Right!

– Campbell has been eating citronella candles and his farts smell HORRID. Seriously. I don’t know what is wrong with this dog, but he’ll eat anything, I swear. He’s such a turd, but when he gives me the pouty eyes I just melt every time.

– I’m now a part of KamBlogs, which features local bloggers. I’m pretty stoked to be a part of it. It doesn’t hurt that my work organizes it either ;)

– I am getting really good at typing with one hand, thanks to Isla and her constant desire to be snuggled to sleep and my refusal to just let her cry. I’m a sucker, what can I say?

– I was asked to be a part of a new parenting series that will be appearing on one of our local TV stations! It’s all about trends in parenting and I’m being featured in a segment about being a mom and blogger. We shot everything yesterday and it will be airing sometime in the fall. Isla’s going to be a TV star and she won’t even know it, lol. Even Daphne had a close-up :) I’m so glad that it wasn’t live, because my last experience with being on TV was and it was horribly awkward.

Happy Friday!

Listy Friday

It’s Friday. You get a random list. Surprised? Didn’t think so!
– Wednesday night Isla slept for 4 hours straight, which means I too, slept for 4 hours straight. Except I woke up before her (as in not to her fussing as usual) and panicked because she wasn’t squalking as usual. My first thought? “OMG MY BABY’S DEAD.” Of course, I check her and she wasn’t, and then she woke up to be fed. Ah well. Those four hours of sleep I got were amazing.
– Also, how is my kiddlet already 4 weeks old??? Ridiculous.
– Daphne had some crazy medical issues which resulted in a crazy-expensive trip to the vet. As it turns out, she had some kind of infection. She’s on antibiotics and is doing sooo much better. For the first couple days, she looked like a zombie-satellite dog.

– We have been having the strangest weather lately. It will be sunny one moment, and then we’ll have torrential downpours the next. It’s annoying, especially if I have plans to walk anywhere.
– I’m impatiently still waiting for my E.I. to kick in. My ROE was filed late, which is less than ideal, and now it’s taking forever for my claim to be processed. Balls.
– Next week I am determined to hit up the Saturday Farmer’s Market. I have a hankering for fresh produce and BANNOCK.
– My mom’s house doesn’t have air conditioning. I have no idea how she survives in the summer. I have a hard time at my own house sometimes and I have air conditioning.
– My blog has really been neglected lately. I just don’t have time to blog! I don’t know how other moms managed to keep blogging regularily with a newborn. When I have a spare moment all I want to do is sleep. Maybe I’m just not a dedicated enough blogger. Meh.

Happy Friday!
What are your weekend plans??

Listy Friday

How about a post not completely about babies? Okay!

– I painted my toenails all by myself Wednesday night. This is a big deal! I haven’t been able to reach them (comfortably) for sooo long, it felt amazing to be able to do it. It’s the little things, people, that amke you feel awesome.

– I’m more than certain that Daphne is having an allergic reaction to something. Her lips are snout are all swollen. This isn’t the first time this has happened, so I’m not overly concerned. It just sucks seeing her so uncomfortable.

– Isla and I had a visit from a public health nurse yesterday morning to check on her weight and to make sure I’m settling into “Mommyhood” okay, and Isla already weighs 9lbs, 1oz! What a little porker! It’s ridiculous how fast time flies by.

– It has been ridiculously hot for the past week. Like, grossly hot (35C +). I’ve been hiding in the house with the AC on for the most part, only venturing outside to either yell at the dogs in the yard or to get the mail (while Kyle watches Isla). That’s it. I hate the heat.

– I have become a pretty boring person since having a baby. Unless you like hearing about milk production, spit up, and poop. Then I guess I’m pretty awesome.

– I just realized that today is Friday the 13th. Ooooo – Spooky! Actually, I have no opinion on the superstition and find it to be silly.

– I’m almost finished my first book on my Kobo! I bought The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel on a whim and I must say, I rather enjoyed it. I don’t think I’ll watch the movie, but the book was good enough. I just can’t get into movies with all British-accented actors. It’s like accent overload. Does that make me a horrible person? Probably.

– I managed to keep baby talk to only 3 bullets, not including this one. Not too shabby …

I guess that’s enough for today.
Please tell me something exciting that’s happening in your life!
