WTW: 6 Months!

Today’s Wedding Talk Wednesday is brought to you by the letter six! That is, my wedding is in six months! And there’s still SO MUCH to do! I even had a mini panic attack Monday afternoon.

Let’s see, I still have to:

  1. Find bridesmaid dresses
  2. Pick flowers
  3. Find favours for our guests
  4. Get wedding bands
  5. Make & mail out invitations
  6. Figure out decorations

And then there’s the usual stuff, like getting the marriage license, have my dress fitted and altered (once it arrives), get the guys their tux’s, and PAYING FOR EVERYTHING! It’s starting to get a little overwhelming.

Watching Rich Bride, Poor Bride while I type this blog post definitely doesn’t help either. Where the hell do these people get the money to buy a $500 tiara?? Holy muther-f’er …

Anyway, I know it will eventually all come together. I already have the invitations, they just need to be printed; and my aunt is an awesome florist and has offered to help me with the flowers. The only things I’m really lost on are decorations and favours. I already know what I’m personally giving my bridal party, and Kyle knows what he wants to give his guys, but neither of us know what do give our guests at the reception. Candy? Keepsakes? Homemade? Bought it bulk? One wedding I went to a couple years ago did homemade truffles and another did baby pine trees to take home and plant. I just don’t know!

There’s actually a Bridal Fair at the end of this month that I hope to be able to go to if Job #2 isn’t douchy and gives me the day off. I’m really hoping that it will give me lots of ideas!

Any suggestions for favours? What would you want to get as a favour? Something edible or something that will last forever?

Ten on Tuesday

1. What type of home do you currently reside in? (house, apartment, etc.)

I currently live in a lovely little townhouse!

2. If you could completely redecorate one room in your home, what room would you pick, why, and what would you do to it?

That’s a tough one! I think the room that needs it the most is the bathroom. The paint is cheap and bubbling. :(

3. What is your favourite place to gain inspiration for your home decor style?

I love Ikea, but I also love East-meets-West.

4. What is your favourite piece of decor in your home?

That’s a good question! I do love my coffee and end table. And couch.

5. What do you want visitors to feel when they visit your home? Do you think your home gives off that feeling?

Warm and welcome. I think it does, or at least I hope it does!

6. Describe your home in one word and explain why you chose that word.

Ours, because after years of saving, it’s ours and not anyone else’s!

7. What are some predominant colors or patterns in your home?

Various shades of brown, and black. We didn’t pick the wall colours, but the living room furniture is mostly black.

8. What is your favourite room in your home and why?

The living room or our bedroom. The living room because it’s big and open, and our bedroom because our bed is so amazingly comfy!

9. Do you take a hands-on or DIY approach to projects around your home or do you enlist or hire help?

We haven’t done any projects yet, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a combination of both. We’re definitely not installing our own windows!

10. Where is your favourite place to shop for home furnishings?

Home Depot or Jysk.

2010

Ah 2010, how you amazed me. You were fast. You were eventful. And now you’re about to slip away into the past. Let’s recap, shall we?

Resolutions: I made a list of “resolutions” and I think I only accomplished about half of them. I also started my “96 in 1096” challenge and I think I’m doing pretty well, even though I always forget to update the page.

Music: According to iTunes, I downloaded 7.9 hours of music (62 songs). My most played song was “Telephone” by Lady Gaga and Beyonce (122 times!)

Love: Well, I’ll state the obvious: It’s been a FABULOUS year for me for love. Kyle and I bought a house, got engaged and are now planning out wedding. It only took eight years, but it’s finally happening and I couldn’t be happier.

Friends: I’ve let some go and I’ve had amazing times with others. I’ve made new bloggy friends too!

Travel: I didn’t really travel anywhere this year, other than to Vancouver with Kyle for a hockey game. It was amazing and fun and can’t wait to travel to new places next year, including to Northern BC for B’s wedding.

Work: I left my job at one publication for another, worked (and am still working) 2 jobs, and got freelancing work. I’ve kept awfully busy just working, so maybe that’s why I haven’t travelled much.

What’s in store for 2011? Weddings, a new beginning and fun. I’ll become a Mrs!

Happy New Year to all my amazing blog followers! May it bring the world to you and more!
