WTW: Flowers

“Tis time for Wedding-Talk Wednesday! Today? The flowers!

I didn’t think that picking flowers would be so hard! At first, I really wanted gerbera daisies. Then I wanted peonies. Then I wanted roses. Needless to say, I couldn’t make up my mind. I fell in love with this bouquet:

But, it turns out it would be pretty freaking expensive. (Of course, I always pick the most expensive things. What budget?) I thought about going with all peonies, but it turns out (again) that they’re expensive. *sigh*

The one thing I did know was that I wanted the flowers to be all white, since black, white and a cobalt blue (or “Ford Vista Blue” as Kyle likes to put it, lol) are the colours we’ve chosen. Black flowers don’t really exist and blue flowers are hard to come by until you dye white flowers, and I don’t want the dye ruining my dress!

So last week, I was talking with a co-worker at Job #2 about how I couldn’t make up my mind with flowers, and since Job #2 happens to have a decent selection of flower arrangements, we took a look.

I went back to the gerberas since they’re my favourite flower. Then I looked at the white roses. Then I put the two together and BAM! That was it! So, my flowers will be white gerbera daisies with black centres and white roses. The bridesmaids will have gerbera bouquets and Kyle’s opted not to have a boutonnière. (I believe he’s going with a classy pocket square instead)

I couldn’t find any photos of a white gerbera and rose bouquet, but just picture it as amazing (for my sake!) And of course, now that I have the flowers all chosen, my mom is putting her decorating hat on (She’s an amazing party decorator! She actually was the unofficial chair of decorating for my prom and did an AMAZING job!).

Ahh, it’s all coming together :)

Ten on Tuesday

1. Is there a band/artist that you HATE?

Everytime a Justin Bieber song is played, a cute baby monkey dies. Sorry kids, better stop listening to the Biebs. For the monkeys!

2. What do you do when you get a gift that you do not like? How do you react?

I usually smile a fake smile and say, “Oh neat! Thanks!” …. “No no, I like it, I swear!”

3. How is your work office/cubicle decorated?

It’s not, really. The only bit of decoration I have is a little picture printed off my email that reads, “How is it that even after Monday and Tuesday, the calendar says ‘W.T.F.’?” I’m that awesome. Someone send me flowers?

4. Do you use all of your vacation every year?

Yes. At Job #1 I’m pretty sure we can’t bank all our vacation time, and at Job #2, I hate it so much I’ll take all the time off I can get. (This year it’s for some random wedding … weird! ;))

5. Did you have a real or fake Christmas tree?

Real all the way! They just smell so good, and really, they’re better for the environment. GOOGLE IT.

6. If you could have anything for dinner tonight, what would it be?

King crab and steak. Right meow. But, my dad is cooking me a roast, so that’s pretty good too!

7. Do you bite your fingernails?

Ick, no. I don’t understand people who can!

8. How many cups of coffee do you drink each day?

Usually one giant mug in the morning. I think it hold about 3-4 cups? Since I got my Tassimo I just make my little pod and then add as much extra as I can. (Have I mentioned how much I love my Tassimo? LOVE!)

9. Do you have a nervous tick?

Not that I’m aware of …

10.  How often do you vacuum?

Probably not often enough. I’d say once a week if I’m on top of it. Dog hair gets craaaazzyy around here!

Seven Quick Takes

Last night I dinged up my engagement ring putting a frying pan in the drawer under the over. I was PISSED and felt so bad! Kyle didn’t think it was such a big deal, but I decided to take it to the jeweller today and get it buffed out. I figured I’d get it resized a little bit since it seems it wants to fall off constantly. Hopefully I get it back soon because I hate how naked my finger feels. In fact, I slid my promise ring on that finger so it didn’t look naked.

It snowed for nearly three straight days, except it wasn’t heavy snow, just light fluffy stuff that didn’t really stick. I think we only got a couple inches or so. Regardless, Daphne was pretty stoked on the snow:

I’ve found that I’ve lost a little bit of my desire to blog. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been busy with work and wedding planning, but when I do get a free night, blogging isn’t want I want to do. So, I’ve been trying to post at least twice a week. I feel crumby about it, but I’m sure ya’ll won’t notice too much. (And yes, I just used the word “ya’ll”)

Kyle and I have been trying to decide whether or not to combine our finances. One of the reason’s we’re hesitant is because I tend to be a spender and Kyle’s a saver. We’re also concerned about what we’d do should we ever split. Who gets what? We did have a joint account when we were saving up for our house, but we didn’t use that money for anything else. A REAL joint account would be a huge adjustment for both of us. Do any of you have a joint account with your SO? How do you decide what the money gets spent on?

Did anyone else watch Grey’s Anatomy last night? YAY Christina! Bailey, stop crying! I missed my Thursday night television!

After my mini-meltdown Wednesday, I think I’m a little bit calmer. I had a good chat with my mom, Kyle reassured me that we have plenty of time to do everything, and I gathered a lot of great ideas from my friends, blog comments and coworkers. And, my mom emailed me photos of me trying on my wedding dress to my work email, so I sneak peaks of them at work when its not busy. I can’t help but just feel excited to marry the love of my life when I look at those photos!
