WTW: The Photographer

It’s time for Wedding Talk Wednesday!

I’m eventually going to do a 2010 recap post, but I’ve been swamped with Christmas festivities, work and freelancing that I just haven’t had time to go through the year and pick out highlights. Don’t even ask me about posting my New Year’s resolutions. That’s just not happening.

I’ve always loved looking at people’s wedding photos; photos are a way of capturing those truly happy moments during a wedding that you may miss: a friend shedding a happy tear, laughter when the best man accidentally dropped the rings, people having fun … the photos are the one thing that I look forward to having after the wedding done and the party is over.

I started researching photographers at least a year ago, way before Kyle even proposed. (Actually, I started researching a LOT of wedding stuff a looooong time ago!) There are a LOT of photographers in Kamloops; way more than what I had thought, and they’re all pretty amazing. Basically, what it all came down to was skill and of course, cost.

I started trying to find a photographer for our wedding only a few days after Kyle proposed, and holy man, I’m glad I didn’t wait any longer. Apparently photographers get booked up for weddings way in advance, because the first three photographers I had contacted were already booked. Phooey!

Then, I found Jo’s website and adored her style. I wouldn’t say I’m a pro photographer by any means, but her photo editing style was a lot similar to my own, and if I were to take photos of my own wedding, a lot of the shots in her online portfolio were what I’d take as well. Not only was her portfolio impressive, but her prices were within my budget as well. I emailed her right away and she got back to me within a day or so saying that my wedding day was open. Yes!

I met with Jo a week or so after I originally emailed her; she explained that it’s best to meet with the photographer ahead of time to go over what kind of shots you’d like, what your tastes are and most importantly – whether or not your personalities clash! Thankfully they didn’t and we had a great chat.

I’m soooo looking forward to having Jo take my wedding photos. She has such an awesome personality and gets what kind of photos I want.

If you want, you can check out her website here: Jo LeFufy Photography. She also has a blog too! If you’d like to check that out, it’s here.

(And Jo, if you happen to read this, I hope I don’t freak you out, lol! I’m just really stoked!)

Ten on Tuesday

1. What was the number one item on your Christmas wishlist?

I was really banking on a Tassimo coffee brewer and new slippers

2. Did you get the number one item on your Christmas wishlist?

I got them both! Kyle got me the Tassimo, and my Mom bought me slippers. Woo!

3. How long has it been since you’ve had a pedicure?

I’ve never had one actually. Shame! I have this thing with feet; I just don’t think I could handle some stranger touching them.

4. How cold is it in your city today?

It was a balmy 5°C (41°F) today! The snow is pretty much all melted. Not cool!

5. How many pillows do you sleep with?

One! Why would someone need more than one pillow?

6. Can you roll your tongue?

I think so … Yep … I can!

7. Do you always buy the same mascara or do you try new ones each tube?

I’ll use the same one a couple times and then I’ll try something different. Right now I’m using Cover Girl’s Eye Effects.

8. What’s your favorite cookbook?

I rarely ever use a cookbook, but I do get recipes off the internet a lot, so I’ll say the internet :)

9. What was your first pet?

A cat. She was eaten by a coyote. The End :(

10. Do you wear jewelry on a daily basis?

I do!

Merry Christmas to All!

Merry Christmas Blogland! I hope everyone is having an amazing day today!

Kyle and I are off to have brunch with my Dad and brother and are going to have dinner with his Mom later today.

Last night we exchanged gifts and had dinner at my Mom’s. Kyle got me a Tassimo coffee brewer! SO GOOD! I might be a little high of caffeine right now even ;)

Hope Santa was good to everyone!
