Weekend Update

Hello, Monday! Here’s what the Evans household got up to this past weekend!

{Friday}
It was a beauty of a day, so we spent a good chunk of it hanging out in the yard! Isla rode her Power Wheels around, jumped on the trampoline, and played some t-ball while Kyle and I played catch. Norah had an amazing midday nap during all the fun ;)

I most definitely sent this in to America’s Funniest Home Videos!

My mom picked Isla up after work and had her over for supper, so Kyle, Norah and I headed to the mall so I could pick out my early birthday present, a new bat for slo-pitch! We had an awesome Subway dinner in the food court and then headed back home to chill before Isla returned.

{Saturday}
Kyle went paintballing in Vernon with a bunch of guys, so it was just the girls and I for most of the day! One of my BFF’s came to visit (her husband was also a part of the paintballing crew) until I had to take Isla to dance lessons. After lessons we came home and had lunch, and I just puttered around the house doing laundry and being lazy. Everyone came back around 4:30-5ish and we threw some hamburgers on the barbecue for dinner. It was an awesome little impromptu visit with our favourite friends!

{Sunday}
We had a pretty lazy day for the most part; we watched the Blue Jays game in the morning and just lounged around the house for most of the day. In the afternoon I dropped Isla and Norah off at my mom’s before heading out to play slo-pitch. It felt SO GOOD being out on the field again, even though we lost both games. (We played pretty good for the first games of the season, in our defence!)

Of course, today I’m really feeling those two games and I just hurrrrrrt. It’s a good thing I have nothing going on today, because it’s going to be a lazy one!

How was your weekend? What’s your go-to food court food?

Currently

Reading // The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty. Technically, I’m rereading it, mostly because I can’t decide on a new book to read. I’ve actually been rereading a few old ones off of my Kobo, so new book suggestions are welcome!

Watching // Dancing with the Stars (mostly for Nyle DiMarco), Grey’s Anatomy, and The Voice.

Listening to // Sia, DNCE, and shamefully, the Biebs. (I KNOW, DON’T JUDGE!)

Loving // That Norah’s sixth(!) tooth has finally pushed through, the warm weather we’ve been having (sans the wind), the relandscaping Kyle did to the front yard.

Thinking // About how frustrating Campbell has been lately. We’ve been having issues with our gate/fence and Cam has figured out how to open the gate so he can go on “adventures” in the neighbourhood. I’m actually amazed that he hasn’t been hit by a car or bus, and that the few times that someone has found him that they haven’t been mad. I’m hoping the company that built our gate and fence last year can fix the issue before something bad happens to Cam.

How can a face like this be so infuriating??

Needing // Motivation to go on at least two “runs” before the 5K run I entered comes up on the 24th. I have a sneaky feeling it’s going to be a casual walk/run for me. Oh well.

Anticipating // “Opening day” for slo-pitch on Sunday, Kyle’s stepdad running in the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Looking forward to // More sunny days, the Lower Mainland in a month, the day where Norah decides to sleep all through the night. (Wishful thinking?)

What are you currently reading, watching, and/or anticipating??

A high of the week was baseball! The Blue Jays opened up the season on Sunday, and on Thursday my slo-pitch team had a practice. Even though the weather wasn’t particularly stellar, baseball reminds me of summer and that makes my heart happy.

I also scheduled Norah’s cake smash session for her birthday in June, so I now have something exciting to count down to!

A low of the week was Norah’s awful sleeping habits. I was literally in tears Tuesday night because she kept waking up screaming. Every time I got her to sleep and back into her crib, a half-hour later she’d wake up screaming again. I think she finally caved for good around 2:30am and “let” me sleep until 7am.

An internet find I loved was a Crosscountry Canada emulator. Okay, I have to admit that Kyle actually found it a while ago, but I’ve been playing it a bit recently and it’s so bloody addicting. Anyone else remember it from their childhood?? We played it during our “IT” time in elementary school. It’s pretty amusing to see which Canadian cities made it into the game!

The best money I spent was on some new capris for Isla and shirts for Norah at Costco.

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was Isla chirping a man at Costco for calling Norah a boy. He said to Isla, “Is that your little brother?” and she responded with, “Noooooo, that’s my baby SISTER.” Poor Norah, though, because that’s not the first time she’s been called a boy :(

I also put Jamberry nail wraps on Isla’s gross, bitten finger nails hoping that she’ll stop biting them. Fingers crossed! (Pun intended.)

The song that has been stuck in my head is “Cake by the Ocean” by DNCE.

My meals of the week were:

Monday: Jambalaya
Tuesday: Homemade Shake & Bake
Wednesday: Salmon
Thursday: Hot dogs for me and Isla and Norah went to my mom’s because I had ball practice.
Friday: Kabobs

My plans for the weekend are working in the yard and enjoying the weather!

What are your plans for the weekend?
