Party in your PJs!

I’m generally not one for going to the salon and getting a manicure. I don’t have the patience for waiting for the polish to dry; the last time I got a manicure I fudged up the polish as soon as I got into my car after my appointment. I left the polish on my toes and swore off manicures.

That is, until I was introduced last year to Jamberry! Since it’s a vinyl nail wrap, there’s no waiting around for polish to dry and I can give myself a gorgeous “Jamicure” in 15 minutes right from home! For me, they last longer than a regular manicure (about 10 days) which is obviously way longer than any manicure.

Even Isla loves Jamberry and is constantly asking for her nails to be done. She used to be a horrible nail-biter until I bought her wraps and applied them. Now she lets them grow so she can have pretty nails ;)

Anyway, the point of this post is to let you know that I am hosting an Online Jamberry Party on Facebook on Friday (March 3) from 7 to 8 pm PST. There will be games, prizes, and of course, the opportunity to learn more about Jamberry. It’s a “public” event, so feel free to click on the link above if you’d like to “attend” from the comfort of your own home! My consultant is a wonderful friend of mine and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have!

And – a new catalogue was released today so you’ll be able to browse the brand new designs!

Full disclosure: All opinions on Jamberry are my own and I was not compensated by Jamberry or its affiliates for this post. I will, however, earn host rewards on all purchases made during my online party, which I can use to receive free and discounted Jamberry products.

Weekend Update

What a weekend our household had! Really, all the fun (if you can call part of it that) started Tuesday, but I’ll fast forward a bit to Thursday night …

{thursday} Norah decided that she’d chew on one of those round, cork, hot pot holders from Ikea Tuesday and stick the pieces up her nose. I pulled two pieces out with tweezers that night and thought I got them all. Nope. Fast-forward to Thursday evening, I’m giving her a bath and while washing her face she freaks out and starts sneezing after I wipe her nose. I look up her nostril (no easy feat since she’s now afraid from Tuesday’s incident) and bam – there’s still a chunk up one nostril. Really, you’d never guess something was wrong with her because she was breathing and sleeping normally. There was no way I was getting it so when Kyle got home from work I took Norah to the ER.

We waited around for about two hours before the doctor had the chance to look at her, but she was being so good. (Thank you, YouTube!) The ER doctor had to swaddle and sedate her since she was so fidgety (Can you blame her?), and he was unsuccessful in getting the piece out and referred us a specialist who was able to see us the next day.

{friday} I dropped Isla off with Kyle’s mom so I could take Norah to see the specialist. She was NOT HAPPY in the slightest to have more people holding her still and sticking things up her nose, but the ENT doctor (or, if you prefer the medical term, the otolaryngologist) was successful in removing the piece wedged up her nostril. Yay! She got to pick two treasures out of a big bin of “prizes” and we were happily on our way!

I had organized for a couple of Kyle’s friends to come stay the evening as part of Kyle’s birthday festivities (His birthday is tomorrow!), so Isla, Norah, and I decided we’d give them an estrogen-free dinner and headed to my mom’s. We came back home in time for bed and I got caught up on Grey’s and played way too much Xbox before turning in myself. (The boys stayed up waaaaaay late, lol)

Saturday morning sunrise!

{saturday} We had a relatively lazy day since the boys were feeling a little under the weather ;) In the afternoon Kyle and his buddy went for a drive with Isla to the candy store and Norah had a quick nap.

We ordered pizza for dinner because greasy food is the perfect hangover cure, and while Norah was picking her at her food we SWORE we saw her stick some of it up her nose. (The opposite of the one the specialist worked on.) Kyle helped hold her still while I looked up her nose, and there was definitely something up there, but I couldn’t get it. FML. We ended up plugging the opposite nostril and telling her to blow her nose, so she did, and after a few attempts ANOTHER piece of cork came out. FOR THE LOVE OF — !  I’m fairly certain that was the last piece, and I’m 100% sure that Norah is going to be the child that makes the grey hairs grow.

{sunday} Kyle made pancakes for breakfast (the best, according to Isla), and Norah and I eventually got to the grocery store to get our weekly shopping done.

In the afternoon Isla had a birthday party to go to at the bowling alley, so we dropped Norah off at my mom’s. It was her first time bowling and she had a blast!

We were exhausted by the end of the day and are looking forward to a quiet weekend next week!

How was your weekend??

Thought Dump Thursday

Thought Dump Button

  • Mother Nature appears to be showing her true female indecisiveness lately when it comes to the weather. Snow? Rain? Sun? More snow? MAKE UP YOUR MIND, WOMAN! That being said, after experiencing the Great Lower Mainland Snowstorm of 2017 earlier this month, it should be a provincial law that all vehicles, regardless of their geographical location, must have snow tires on their vehicles from October to April.
  • Back in the beginning of November there was a horrible accident not too far from my house and a young lady lost her life while waiting for the bus. It really shook me hard, even though I didn’t know the girl, because one day my kids will be the ones waiting innocently for the bus to arrive. A couple weeks ago I heard on the radio that a couple of young individuals are raising money to have a memorial bench installed at the bus stop where she was waiting, as well as at the nearby elementary school where she attended. I think it’s so amazing that a couple of kids have it in their hearts to do something like this. If you’d like to donate towards their cause, here is the link.
  • Sometimes, it’s great to offer your thoughts and opinions on matters that you can relate to. I always appreciate hearing stories from those who have similar experiences and fist-bumping in solidarity. However, those who cannot relate should probably STFU and keep their “neener neener” thoughts to themselves.
  • I don’t watch NASCAR at all, unless Ricky Bobby is driving, but Monster Energy has taken over sponsorship of Victory Lane. There was a little “news” blurb on my homepage that some people are outraged that the ladies of said Lane are dressed too scantily clad. As a sucker for ridiculousness, I clicked through and didn’t think they were dressed too scantily at all, no worse than any pop star these days. Sure, they had some serious cleavage going on, but as one Twitter commenter pointed out, so did their predecessors. And to the woman who tweeted that it was “too much” and that NASCAR is a family show, perhaps you should unfollow Ariana Grande, because if you listen to some of her song lyrics, they aren’t exactly wholesome
  • Last year, we had put an offer on a house another subject to the sale of our own. We had ours listed for about 2 weeks before our offer was bumped, so we took ours off the market. Since doing that, we’ve received three letters from other realtors in town trying to get us to list with them, with comments such as, “We see you didn’t sell.” While I just recycle the letters, they’re rather annoying and just go to show how vulture-like some salespeople can be.
