Eating // Cereal, her breakfast staple at the moment. She likes Cheerios mixed with some kind of sugary goodness. (Right now it’s Trix.) And I’ll admit that I totally just put Cheerios in her bowl to cut back on the sugar. When she’s done her cereal she usually asks for a yogurt as well.

Drinking // Milk at every meal, and asks for juice or water during the day when she’s thirsty. She doesn’t like pop (I think it’s the carbonation) or coffee, lol. Actually, every beverage that Kyle and I drink (that isn’t milk, juice, or water) is either “beer” (anything in a can) or coffee (anything in a mug).

Watching // Paw Patrol and Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood. She also likes watching Friends on Netflix with me, and she adored Gilmore Girls. (Seriously – she would pretend to talk on the phone with Lorelai and would tell me that Sookie is in the kitchen.)

Reading // A book that her great-grandparents brought back from Hawaii for her. It’s about a sea turtle named Limu and his underwater Hawaiian garden. She likes it because of all the turtles, I like it because it’s a short read ;)

Learning // Dance moves! She’s been in dance lessons for about a month now and absolutely loves it. I placed her in lessons just in time for the big recital at the end of this month, so it should be interesting to see how the little ones do on the big stage!

Wanting // To pick songs in the car (“Shut Up and Dance” is her go-to right now, followed closely by “Shake it Off” (still, ugh), and “Uptown Funk.”) She also wants to do things herself more often than not these days, which is a constant reminder of how big she’s getting. “I’LL DO IT!” is what I hear when she doesn’t want my help with something, like going potty (which she’s nearly mastered) and getting in and out of “her” seat at the kitchen counter.

Needing // To keep busy. She doesn’t do well when she’s bored (nor do I), so she needs something to do to occupy her time. We do park days, outside time, and other fun adventures to keep her mind occupied. When the weather’s not so great it’s harder, but she enjoys colouring, puzzle building and movie watching as well!

Anticipating // The arrival of her baby sister, who she’s certain is going to come out of my belly button. While she claims that she’s going to love her and share her toys with her, I’m skeptical ;)

TGIF: v.16

The high of my week was receiving our tax return in the mail! Not that we have super fancy plans for it – we’re replacing the fence in our backyard and building a retaining wall. But still – it was a wonderful thing to receive! I also finished a project I’ve been working on for the past few months and sent it off to the publisher. Yay! It should be printed and in the mail in the next couple of weeks!

The low of my week was spilling a glass of water all over my Macbook. Way to go, Kara. After dealing with a wonky trackpad for about 12 hours, everything seems to be working just fine again. At least it was just water? I’m sure any other type of liquid probably would’ve killed it.

An internet find I loved was not really a find, but after finishing Gilmore Girls last week I wanted to start a new series to watch with Isla while we ate lunch. Kyle suggested Friends – the episodes are only 22 minutes long and it’s easy to watch. Okay – it’s perhaps not the most toddler-appropriate show for Isla to be watching, but whatever. She seems to like it and now asks for Friends at lunch instead of Gilmore Girls.

The best money I spent was on the curtains I scored for the nursery off a local buy/sell group. They will likely go up this weekend!

My favourite Isla moment was her mooning me. Seriously, this kid is hilarious! She was leaning into her toy bin to get something and had a bit of a plumber’s crack showing, so I said to her, “Nice butt crack, Isla!” She responded with “Thank you, Mommy!” then pulled her pants down further and mooned me! I died laughing, and now of course she thinks it’s the best thing ever to do.

The song that has been stuck in my head is Matt McAndrew’s single, “Counting on Love.” I really wanted him to win The Voice last season and was sad that he didn’t, but his new song is so good! It helped that he performed it the other night live and that James Valentine accompanied him …

My favourite meal of the week was nothing. Really. Nothing stands out in my head, except for the crap-tastic dinner I made Tuesday, which was indeed, crappy.

My plans for the weekend are a little R&R visit at a friend’s house and getting the nursery closer to being finished. May is jam-packed with stuff happening on the weekends, and I have a feeling June is going to be here before I know it! (Which is good AND bad!)

Pregnancy 2.0: 32 weeks

32 weeks

Size of Baby: She’s the size of a Florida pomelo. Or, if you prefer, is about 18″ and weighs about 4lbs. Some days I’m pretty sure she’s massive though, because quite often I can feel her in my ribs and in my pelvis at the same time. Joys.

Feeling: Big. Okay, I’m not that big, but I sure feel like it. I’ve actually gained less weight right now than I did with Isla, which is a huge high-five moment for me. But, and I’ve said it a zillion times already, my body sure is reminding me that I’m carrying just over 20 extra pounds of weight around with me. It hurrrrrts, but it will soon all be worth it.

Craving: All the sweets. Seriously. And I’m doing a pretty good job (IMO) avoiding those cravings. With the exception of a 7-Eleven Slurpee on the weekends and a handful of chocolate-covered raisins every now and then, I’m caving into cravings a lot less this time. (Which is probably why I’m 5lbs less at 32wks than I was with Isla at 32wks.) I go for a little yogurt cup instead of ice cream before bed.

Other: I scored the exact curtains I wanted for the nursery on a local mom swap/buy group for only $15 for 2 panels! They’re normally about $20/panel brand new, so I’m pretty proud of myself! (Even more since there were a 1/2 dozen ladies lined up to buy them if I failed to pick them up from the seller.) Kyle has a shelf to rehang in the closet and Isla’s new dresser to assemble, and then the nursery will be complete!

I’m also thinking about going to Home Depot and picking out a “Just in Case” swatch of paint. For some reason I’m not 100% sold that this baby is a girl. I had a dream a while ago that “she” came out a “he”, and ever since then I’ve been apprehensive about this one being a girl! (Although I did buy a “feminine” coming-home outfit.) I’m sure we won’t have any surprises, but I’ll pick out a colour and keep it on hand just in case! My step-father in-law is an excellent painter, so I’m sure he could have the room repainted before we even come home from the hospital ;)
