Progress Report: 96 in 1096

Last month, I started my 96 in 1096 list. I won’t go into details, but you can check it out here.

*****

After a weekend of shopping, I realized that I have way too many clothes. I had ZERO hangers available in my closet. I searched Kyle’s closet and he didn’t have any either. Dammit. Cue my 96 in 1096 list!

One of my things to do was to organize and clean out my closet. I don’t know how long it will last since I love clothes, but I did it! Here’s a before picture:

I didn’t even have room to hang my work clothes up. The shoe boxes are storage, not shoes, and that big green case is my gun safe. (Yeah, yeah, I know, hillbilly FTW.)  The shelving unit in the middle had a mix of shorts and junk. Basically, it was a mess. It even leaked out onto the back of my door because my sweaters didn’t fit in the closet:

Basically, the story is: What I moved in with Kyle I left my giant walk-in closet behind but brought my walk-in closet sized wardrobe. That was a problem, so on Monday I tried to tidy up my closet a bit. I tossed out anything I hadn’t worn in more than 6 months (not including my dresses and summer stuff). I now have a huge garbage bag full of clothes to take to charity.

Here’s my closet now:

Not too shabby, right? And the great thing? I have SOOO many free hangers! I even donated some to Kyle’s closet. I rolled up my shorts to make more space and threw out a bunch of the junk. I designated the top left section for my work clothes and the bottom left section for after work/weekend clothes. The right side is for my sweaters and more jeans. I just wish that cleaning out my closet was as fun as Carrie and the girls make it look in the original SITC movie.

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks Milly!

First, I just want to point out that it is taking all of the effort in the world for me to type up this blog post! I’m utterly exhausted and just want to go to sleep.

Now, with that being said, I had an awesome weekend! As I had mentioned in Friday’s post, I went to Kelowna Saturday to visit my amazing wonderful friend B and her baby girl! (FYI: Kelowna is a 2-hour drive from Kamloops).

The drive itself was long, probably because I was by myself, but the scenery was pretty! Lots of lovely mountains and such. I just bought a Garmin GPS and I thought it would be a great time to test her out! I decided to name her Matilda, or Milly for short, since she sounds like an uppity British woman with poor pronunciation.

Hello there Milly!

Poor pronunciation aside, Milly got me to B’s Mom’s place right on schedule, even with my pit-stop in Merritt to go pee. We packed up baby Lilly into my car (since it’s a 4-door and has AC) and headed to downtown Kelowna for a little wedding/bridesmaid dress shopping. I won’t post pictures of the wedding dresses, but I’ll give you a sample of the dresses we (B’s sister and I) tried on:

So that’s one of the dresses. Make a mental note that our dresses are going to be red with white. And ignore the ridiculous lighting and spazzy expression on my face. Or, if you don’t think that’s spazzy enough, here’s me trying to put on a slightly too small dress:

God, I’m special.

I’m not too sure what the actual style of our dresses will be. I think it will depend on what B’s wedding dress looks like. (She actually may have already found it!)

I only got one lame picture of my beautiful little niece. :( B and her sister are heading back up home to Fort Saint John on Thursday, so they’re going to stop in Kamloops for lunch and I’ll take a better pic then. This is all I got:

I also went to my favourite store ever and bought myself a lovely new sweater :) It’s the Wear With All Jacket but in the Lagoon colour. So, picture this sweater:

But in this colour:

It’s soooo freaking comfy, I want to live in it.

Anyway, so that’s more or less my weekend. Yesterday I worked early in the AM. Joys!

How was everyone’s weekend?

Git Yer Herr Did

Last Friday, I decided to chop all my hair off. Like. OFF. Okay, maybe not buzzed off, and maybe not pixie-cut off, but it’s gone.

My usual routine is to grow my hair long past my shoulders for a couple years before chopping it short to chin-length. It’s always hard for me to do – I grew up with LOOOONG hair. Think down to your butt-crack long. I remember when I first had my hair all chopped off – I was maybe in Grade 5 – it was the weirdest feeling.

Ever since then, I haven’t cut it drastically, except for a couple occasions. Long hair as always seemed like a security blanket for me. I feel more feminine in a way, but with my short hair, I feel more grown-up. As my grandma said, “I don’t look like a teeny-bopper.” lol

When I went to the hair dresser’s, I just told her girl, “I want it chopped off.” And so she did; It took an hour and I thought I was going to be late for work. The end result, however, was pleasing:

Okay, that wasn’t taken on the day of the chop, but you get the idea, right? Short! The girl used sooo much product in my hair that it felt nasty. (I only ever use hair spray) Now that I’ve styled it myself, it feels better. I get a couple weird cow-licky things that I don’t know how to fix, but I’ll figure it out. Flat iron when I have the money maybe?

So what’s the boldest thing you ever got did to yerr herr?

And now, if you haven’t watched this video before,  you probably should, because if your sense of humour is anything like mine, you’ll find it hilarious. (Yes, I have frat-boy humour, amongst other types.)

Happy Thursday! :)
