#Fails and #Wins

Things that are full of #FAIL:

– My chair at work is killing my back.

– My cute new flats make my feet warm and uncomfortable. My cute new flats also make my feet smell. Ergo: My cute new flats have to continue making my feet warm and uncomfortable or the smell will make my coworkers uncomfortable.

– I haven’t done any freelancing in a while, which makes me feel rusty, which makes me think that if I did pick up some work I’d be out of practice

– I apparently don’t have any confidence in my writing skills

– I have to pick out blinds for the rooms we’re renovating. This will be a painful task. (I once had garbage bags on my windows for almost a year because we didn’t bother to buy blinds)

– My Word program at work keeps defaulting to some horrible bold font. I’ve yet to change it even though it’s annoying me.

– My keyboard at work is also the pits with its stiff keys and useless USB ports.

– My Mac computer at work has no USB ports. WHY???

– I apparently complain about work a lot.

– The wall charger for my cellphone stopped working, which means my phone will only charge if I plug it into the computer via the USB cord.

Things that are full of #WIN:

– I will be out of my old department at work on Monday and will be a partish-time worker again (I say “partish” because I’m taking on a couple of side jobs at work as well. More on these eventually)

– The room we’re renovating is looking seriously awesome. Can’t wait to share “Done” photos!

– Almonds: My new favourite snack food. AND they’re good for you!

– I am by far the speediest phone-answerer in the land.

– The long weekend coming up. Golfing with my mom Saturday, visiting my bestie in Kelowna on Sunday, and spending time with Kyle on Monday.

– The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Seriously hilarious. (Ding dong! Who’s at the door?!)

– The sunflowers I planted in the spring at starting to bloom! The buds arrived in the last couple weeks and the yellow petals are starting to show:

Pretty, no?

What are your #Fails and #Wins today?

Diet + Exercise = Confusion

I love food. I tolerate exercise. So, how on earth do I combine the two in the healthiest way? Apparently, I haven’t been doing it right at all.

For example, eating a high calorie, high carb energy bar AFTER my workout and then parking my ass on the couch is a huge FAIL. Makes sense though. My body’s in “go” mode and I’m making it do nothing. Fail #1.

Also, after I came home & showered, I devoured a bagel with cream cheese (light cream cheese, in my defence!). Fail #2. What can I say? I’m a carb whore!!

Anyway, Kyle informed me of my mistakes (Darn him and his BCRPA certified mom!) and now I’m going to try and make a better effort to eat properly after my workouts. I guess giving my body fuel and then not using it isn’t so good. Goodbye carbs! Hello healthy stuff! Maybe I’ll even bust out the blender and start making myself smoothies. I just have to find myself a meal plan I guess.

On a random side note: My laptop is down for 2-3 “business days” :( My USB 2.0 drives stopped working and my camera card reader (more times than not) freezes my computer completely. I’m a little sad about it, but at least we still have Kyle’s desktop PC. And thank Cheesus that my cellphone is uber wicked-awesome and I can catch up on my blogs on there :)

On another random side note: My wedding dress arrived today and I’m picking it up tomorrow. I’m SOOOO excited to get back into it!

Any post-workout munchie tips for me?

Blog Non-Swap

So it’s a bit of a late post today but there’s a reason! I was supposed to take part in the 20SB Blog Swap today and had even received an email from my partner with plans to pick a topic and everything, but when I emailed her my post yesterday I didn’t get any response. Low-and-behold, it’s late Monday afternoon and I still have no guest post for you, so I figured I’d share the post I wrote on my own blog. No sense in it going to waste, right? Right!

The theme for this blog swap is: “What will you do next year that you’ve been putting off for too long?”

There are a lot of things I put off for way too long; Laundry, cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming are just a few of them, but I suppose that there’s several bigger things that I’ve been pushing aside simply because life is just too gosh-darn hectic. In 2011 I’m going to (or at least hope to):

Get married: This is actually a given. I’m getting married to the love of my life of eight (8!!!) years in late spring. I wouldn’t say we’ve been putting off getting married, but we’re only 24 and we’ve accomplished a lot before marriage, like buying a house, finishing our post-secondary schooling and developing a savings account. I can’t wait to finally become a Mrs.!

Travel: I didn’t do a single bit of travelling this year other than a weekend trip to Vancouver, (B.C.), to watch a hockey game with my love. I’ve been so busy with working two jobs that it just never happened. Hopefully in 2011 I’ll be able to throw in more trips to Vancouver and hopefully beyond. We picked up passport applications on Saturday so here’s to getting them filled out and used!

Be more domestic: I can’t bake or cook fancy meals to save my life. I really need to learn, because you can only have the same three casseroles so many times before you start to dread dinner. I’m a huge fan of my slow cooker, so maybe I’ll master that. Just don’t expect me to cook a turkey dinner for 10 people. Not happening.

Get back in the gym: I cancelled my gym membership back in June because I had no time to use it. Next year I want to get back in action and get back into shape.

I think that’s about it! Thanks for reading, and be sure to go check out Angelica’s post on my blog as well!

What have YOU been putting off for too long?
