The Liebster Award

I received the Liebster Award from Vicki at Tippytupps. Thanks Vicki! What’s I’m supposed to do is answer the questions she posted, then create 11 of my own and nominate 11 people. So, here we go:

1. What is your favourite season and why?

I’d like to say spring because I love being able to sit outside and bask in the sun’s rays, but everything is usually melting and mucky and gross otherwise. Fall is probably my favourite. Nothing is prettier than the changing colours of the leaves on the trees!

2. What is your favourite book?

I don’t think I have a favourite book. There’s a few that I’ve read that I’ve really enjoyed and that have moved me, and I have a couple of favourite authors, but I don’t think I have a #1 favourite book.

3. Favourite place you’ve visited and why?

Two places come to mind for this one – Las Vegas and Sechelt. Totally different places! Vegas because well, it’s Vegas! It was such an amazing place to visit with Kyle and I loved being able to just be an adult! It’s totally not a place I’d take the kids, although it is common. Sechelt holds a dear place in my heart as I have fond memories travelling there with my grandparents, and it’s where my grandma’s and great-grandma’s ashes were spread. I just find it peaceful and calming.

4. Where would you like to be in 5 years time?

I’d like to be exactly where I am – happy and healthy, surrounded by love. As cheesy as it may sound, I honestly wouldn’t change much about my current life status.

5. What is your biggest fear?

Something bad happening to my family. I know you can’t live in a constant state of worry or fear, because that’s how you trap yourself, but they all mean the world to me and I would be devastated if something bad were to happen.

6. What is your favourite thing about yourself and why?

I grew two little humans inside of me. I’d say that’s pretty awesome. ;)

7. Given the choice, what holiday would you prefer – city break, beach or adventure holiday?

Right now I’d totally go for a beach holiday. Christmas is over and I’m done with the cold and snow. Come December 26, the white stuff loses its allure!

8. What is your guilty pleasure TV show? (C’mon, be honest!)

America’s Next Top Model, although it just wrapped up its last season in December. I’m also known to watch anything that involves Gordon Ramsay, except for Hell’s Kitchen. I stopped watching that a while ago. (How hard can it really be to cook a risotto, especially if you’re a good chef already??)

9. What was the first song you ever bought?

On iTunes, I have no idea. The first CD I ever personally bought was No Doubt’s Orange County, I think. The first CD I ever owned (as in, it was gifted to me) was Backstreet Boys. (Duh!)

10. Have your learnt anything from blogging?  If so what?

That’s your reach to different audiences is unlimited and uncontrollable, so be cautious and aware of what you choose to publish.

11. What is your favourite quote?

“Treat others the way you want to be treated.”

So there you go! Now I’m supposed to create 11 questions of my own:

  1. What’s the strangest food you’ve every tried?
  2. When putting on your socks, do you put the left or right one on first?
  3. If you could dye your hair any colour and have it go right back to its normal colour the next day, what colour would you dye it?
  4. If you had to choose one major awards show to attend, which would it be?
  5. What’s your favourite board game?
  6. How do you like your eggs?
  7. Backstreet Boys or N’SYNC?
  8. If we were to peek at your “to watch list” on Netflix, what are three shows/movies we’d find on it?
  9. What’s the first memory you have as a child?
  10. Grown-up colouring books: Yay or nay?
  11. If you could only eat one meal for dinner for the rest of your life, what would it be?

So that’s that! I’m also supposed to nominate 11 people of my own, but instead I will just leave this open for anyone to copy & paste if they feel bored and need/want a “filler” post to do, or feel free to fill it out and post it in the comments section. Thanks again to Vicki for the nomination!!

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

I stumbled across this post by Krysten and figured, “Ah, why not?!”

What is your favourite TV show that’s on Netflix?
Right now I’m re-watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix (Isla LOVES it and asks to watch all the time, lol). But for Netflix originals, I love Orange is the New Black and can’t wait to start watching season 3 when it starts! Just remind me to pace myself so I don’t watch the entire series in 2 days :P

Dogs or cats? Why?
Dogs, all the way. For one, I’m allergic to cats, so I can’t necessarily bond with them. And I find cats to be temperamental divas. Not that dogs can’t be – it’s just that cats are more, “I love you! I HATE YOU.”

What’s your favourite colour?
I think it’s safe to say that purple is my favourite colour right now. Isla’s rooms (her old nursery/the baby’s room and her current room) are accented in purple, and I find myself drawn to the colour. Yellow is also my “happy” colour

What is your go-to drink?
If we’re talking non-alcoholic, I generally order iced tea or Sprite/7-Up in restaurants. At Starbucks I usually get a Vanilla Latte (iced or hot), or a Passion Tea Lemonade. If we’re getting boozy, I generally go for Caesars or vodka-7’s, but honestly, I haven’t had a drink in so long that I don’t know what my go-to alcoholic beverage is.

What is your favourite type of social media?
I lean heavily towards Instagram when I post anything, mostly because from there I post to Facebook and Twitter at the same time. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I posted anything on Twitter that wasn’t related to an Instagram post as well.

When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
I’m certain I wanted to be a dentist at first, and then at some point in elementary school that switched to a veterinarian. In high school I wanted to be a pyrotechnician (random, right?), and then that switched to a career in either Marketing or Journalism.

Tell me 5 things that make you happy.
My family, sunny days/warm weather, puppies, cupcakes, lake days.

How old were you when you had your first kiss? Tell us about it!
My first kiss (on the lips) was when I was in Grade 7, after our “prom.” It was forced and awkward and overall just weird.
What is your favourite thing about the blog world?
That you can be as honest or as vague as you like and no one seems to mind. On Facebook if you’re vague people get all, “Oh, she just wants attention,” or if you’re honest you get attacked for being honest. Not that this doesn’t happen in the blog world, but I think it just happens less. And I love how you can connect with so many different types of people from all over the country/continent/world!

So there you go! I’m supposed to nominate people as well, but like Krysten, I’ll just let anyone who wants to participate copy, paste & answer the following 10 questions on their blog:

1) If you could instantly be amazingly talent in a specific area (art, sports, skills, etc.), what would you choose?
2) You’re stranded on a deserted island with only three things – what are they?
3) Did you have names picked out for your future children when you were a kid? Are you still certain about them today?
4) Cake, cupcakes, or cake pops?
5) Gilmore Girls fans: Chris, Max, Jason, or Luke for Lorelei?
6) You have just $2000 to travel to anywhere it takes you – where do you go?
7) What colour polish do you gravitate towards when you get a pedicure/manicure?
8) Mixing Play-Doh colours – totally acceptable or the 8th deadly sin?
9) You find a $100 bill just laying on the ground – what do you do with it?
10) In your mind, what makes it “officially” summer?

Versatile Blogger

I got the Versatile Blogger award from Amber over at A Little Pink in the Cornfields. Thanks! Be sure to go check out her blog because she’s awesome :)

I think Amber said it best when she described her blog as inconsistent! I have the same feeling – I’m consistently inconsistent! Except for maybe Tuesdays, where I do the Ten on Tuesday posts hosted at Chelsea’s blog. I love all things random.

So, the rules are to accept, link back and thank the blogger that awarded me, then tell 7 things about myself and tag 15 other lovely bloggers. Here we go:

1. I love planting things but I’m horrible at remembering to keeping them alive! I have a plater full of flowers but I always forget to water and dead-head it. (Thanks Kyle for keeping up on that!) I’ve also killed a bamboo plant (yes, they are killable!) and my Dad has had to bring an African violet plant back from the dead.

2. I would say that I have a good eye for fashion, but I don’t necessarily wear high-fashionish clothes. I’m all about comfort! (And I write this as I watch What Not To Wear.)

3. I have a subscription for Cosmopolitan magazine and while I love reading it, I feel like the majority of the articles don’t apply to me (like “How to Land a Guy” or “10 Ways to Make Him Hot”). It’s probably because I’ve been in a relationship for almost 8 years now and I know what and what not to do. That and I don’t need to seduce a guy from across the bar.

4. I’ll let my dog crawl into bed with me even though she’s not really allowed on the bed. (Shh, don’t tell Kyle!) I don’t invite her onto the bed, but I don’t kick her off if she crawls up herself. She’s just so warm and snuggly!

5. I love a good cup of coffee, but I like to think that I’m not dependant on it. I went an entire week without coffee! Go me!

6. I don’t think I’m short (I’m 5’4″) but when I try on pants I’m always constantly reminded that I am. I had to buy a pair of dress pants from the Petite section. It did feel good not stepping on my pants when I walked though!

7. I’m always awake by 9 a.m. if I’m not up before then, even on weekends. 8:30 is usually when my alarm is set. Lately it’s been earlier because I’ve been working on my freelance projects in the morning before I go to work at 12:30.

And now for my tagged bloggers:

Musings of an Abstract Aucklander

I’m stopping at 11! I’m sure I’m missing someone, but everyone I follow is so awesome!
