TMI Thursday

Hold the phone Batman! It’s funny, I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to come up to add to the TMI Thursday madness that occurs over on LiLu’s domain, but since she’s pulling the plug on the escapade, I’m just going to have to dig up what I have to give TMI Thursday the best send off it deserves!

And with that, I bring to you my most horrific moment in life ….

It was the Summer of 2008, and Kyle and I were off to a magical lake-side land to visit an old friend of his and the friend’s family. It was fine and lovely, with fresh corn on the cob and Chicken Caesar salads, funny stories and the like. Then, the drinking games began. We started playing card games, which happened to be around the same time as a BC Lions football game. Kyle played card games for a while before retiring inside to watch the last half of the football game.

I, however, stayed with the drinking festivities, downing peach vodka and 7-Up, Patron and Jagerbombs. Did I mention tequila makes me slightly crazy? It’s like whiskey to the Irish (which I also can’t drink). Bad bad bad. Kyle emerged from the house after maybe 20 minutes of football to find me drunker than a sailor, barely able to sit up. And then the show began.

I got violently ill off of the side of the porch, right onto the neighbour’s property (Subway has never tasted the same since then), causing myself (and Kyle) to be rather embarrassed since the friend’s parents had been such amazing hosts. It’s a good thing the friend’s mom is amazingly cool and awesome and has known me forever, because it only got worse.

We jump to me being tucked into bed, head spinning, to where I thought I had to get up to go to the bathroom. Cue peeing on the floor. Coordination fail! I emerge from the house in a drunken splendor mumbling “….I …. peed … on … the floor ….” to Kyle and friend’s mom. “You what???” I repeat. They get up to check, and I hang my head in shame outside while they do damage control. They come back out, “Kara, you’re crazy, there’s nothing there.” Then I decide that it was actually in the bed. They check. Nothing. Oh, did I mention I’m actually hallucinating due to all the boozey sickness in my body? Yeah, none of that happened.

Cue me going to the private RV park bathroom next door and sobbing my eyes out for being so drunk I barely know where I am, and Kyle worrying that I have alcohol poisoning and wanting to drive me an hour & a half to the hospital in Kamloops. Oh, and the awkward moments the morning after were a joy.

But, like I said, the friend’s parents are awesome and they even had us back the next summer. I however, kept in control of my liquor and have not touched tequila or Jagermeister since.

So there you go! My first and last contribution to TMI Thursday. I must say, the tales of horror I’ve read in the brief time I’ve been on the blogging scene were great. I tip my glass of non-alcoholic apple juice to the TMI’ers who aren’t afraid to go big :)

Bullet Wednesday

While I know that I don’t have to write a post when I have nothing, I feel obligated to. So, taking the baton from Amber’s post yesterday, I present to you the random thoughts of a bored person:

– I still haven’t heard from the person in regards to this post. I’m getting worried, but plan on emailing him today. I’m preparing myself for the worst, because it shouldn’t take this long to get back to someone, especially if it went well!

– I signed up for the 20SB Blog Swap! You should too! I’m kinda looking forward to it :)

– Kyle and I were really hoping to get a decent tax return so we could buy a new mattress set, but no such luck. He had to pay a buttload because of EI and I suck so I didn’t get that much. After all is said and done, we’ll be getting about $200. Oy. At least we’ll be able to put it into our house fund. The old mattress will have to do for now.

– To elaborate more on the mattress, when Kyle first moved to Kamloops he had a twin bed. We’re both bed hogs (me more than him!) and after one night, it just wasn’t going to work, so he found a discount place and got a queen-size set for $350. That bed has seen better days by now! I did some browsing at a mattress store and the sales guy made me try the Bowling Ball Mattress. Womp womp! Now I REALLY want a new bed, but we just can’t afford one at the moment.

– I get to see my grandparents today! They were snowbirding all winter and they’ll be in town tomorrow to catch up on Dr. appointments and such, so I’m meeting them for lunch :) I’m so excited!

– I have bought about eight Tim Hortons coffees and have yet to win anything for the Roll up the Rim contest. Boo-urns. That being said, the mocha I just downed is making me feel sick.

– Actually, I’ve been feeling sick a lot lately.

– I’ve yet to contribute to the In It to Gym It site. I’ll get there, I just need to think of something brilliant to post about!

– My birthday is in a month and I’m pretty excited about it! Party my pants off? I think so!!

Ten on Tuesday

Here’s another edition of Ten on Tuesday, brought to you by Roots and Rings!

1.  If you could travel back in time, would you?  What decade would you visit?

I sure would! I’d visit the 17th Century, or something fabulous like that. The gowns, feasts and parties would be amazing to experience, minus the beheading and such. And all the scandals! King cheats on Queen with girl, she has his baby and then he falls in love with her sister, she has her baby … drama!

2. What was your best Halloween costume?  (fun to make? most creative?)

A couple years ago I borrowed all of Kyle’s welding stuff (jacket, overalls, helmet, etc.) and was a welder for Halloween at work. That was pretty awesome. I haven’t dressed up for Halloween since!  When I was little my mom and aunt made me a Little Mermaid costume, and that was pretty awesome.

3. Do you like your name?  If you weren’t called by your name, what would you want to be called?

I do like my name! I really can’t think of another name to be called by, but since some of my coworkers think I’m actually a crappy old spinster, we’ll go with Gertrude.

4. In the past year, what is the BEST recipe you made.  Please share it!

It was definitely my Banana Bread, and the recipe is posted here!

5. Look around – what is the nearest object or picture hanging on the wall?

It’s a picture my aunt gave me when I graduated from high school. I’ve been meaning to replace it with Kyle’s welding certificate, but I haven’t felt like climbing chairs in a while.

6. What was the last movie you saw in a theatre?  Would you recommend it?

I watched Valentine’s Day with my mom. It was cute! I’d watch it again :)

7. Did you go to summer camp?  Will you/do you send your kids to camp?

Summer camps were non-existent in my small hometown, but there was a science camp one summer that I went to. I think I was was the summer between Grades 2 and 3 maybe? It was a lot of fun ANNNND Kyle and I were in the same group! I think we were destined to be together.

8. What kind of ringtone do you have?

For calls I have “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga and for texts I just have a knocking sound.

9. Where is the farthest away from home you have ever been?

Palm Springs, California! My Nana used to live there and my grandparents always snowbird there, so I got to fly down and visit them during spring break in Grade 9. It was so much fun, even though it was with my grandparents.

10. Has anyone ever written a song or a poem for or about you?

I’m pretty sure John Mayer wrote “Wonderland” thinking of me. Haha!
