Seven Quick Takes

 1. Kyle and I got our Marriage License yesterday. Oh my jeebus, it’s getting real! Especially when the woman at Service BC told me which paperwork I needed to bring to them to change my name. Holy moly! I’m now all excited/stressed/nervous even more!

2. My mom and I went and watched Water for Elephants last night. I enjoyed the movie, but I think I enjoyed the book more. (Isn’t that always the case though?) But, overall, I think it was a good adaptation of the book. I’m okay with the fact that the left out Uncle Al (I think that was his name?) and I liked that they left Barbara in.

On a random side note to being at the movies with my mom: I had a huge pang of anxiety/panic and felt like I needed to go home and BE at home, even though Kyle wasn’t home and nothing was wrong. It was weird since I’ve never had that kind of an anxiety attack before. Anyway, I got through the movie and rushed home, and of course, Daphne greeted me as always with her big, dumb smile and all was well again.

3. My birthday is tomorrow. 25! I’m getting so old. Seriously. Quarter Centennial!

4. It’s been determined that I cannot BBQ to save my life. For realz. I think there’s a reason why the grill is a man’s domain. Last week I set the thing ablaze cooking steaks. Last night it was hamburgers. Earlier this spring it was ribs. I just can’t get the hang of it. Probably because there’s fire. (I hate fire) And it’s needy and demands attention. I’m good at casseroles that you toss in the oven for 30 minutes. Oh well.

5. I picked up some quick & dirty freelance work short notice, which I thought was going to be a manageable 3 or 4 stories which turned into 7 stories. I panicked, already stressed about wedding shiz, and got my list cut down to 3 stories. Whew. And THANK YOU to the lovely fellow freelance who picked up my slack. (You know who you are!) I owe you! :) My brain is so frazzled.

6. I’ve discovered that I’ve stopped myself from making this a wedding themed Seven Quick Takes at least a 1/2 dozen times now. My brain hurts.

7. I haven’t been to the gym in over a month. Whoops. I need to get my butt back in gear. We’ll see how that pans out. Maybe after the wedding. I just don’t have the energy to go right now. I work my ass off worrying about wedding stuff that I’m exhausted by the end of the day. I’ll get back in the gym to fight off that wedding “bliss” weight I’ve heard oh-so-much about.

Happy Friday everyone! What are some of your “takes”?

WTW: Opt Out

No, I’m not opting out of the wedding, lol.

I’ve decided to opt out of an “offical” WTW post today because frankly, I’m getting tired of talking about the wedding. I’m sure a lot of you are sick of reading about it too. You’re welcome.

The only wedding business I will address today is that I have my hair consultation appointment tonight and my bridal shower/bachelorette/birthday party this Saturday. Oh my word.

I have been ridiculously busy with life lately and I haven’t had much time to keep up on blogging. Hell, I didn’t get to my Ten on Tuesday post until yesterday afternoon. Normally I’m on that one like white on rice, flies on shit, etc., etc., etc. (Pardon my French, lol)

What else have I been up to? Well, Kyle and I planted some cedars, I helped a friend celebrate her 19th birthday, I’ve been working my BUTT off, and I voted. I could try and write a political-based post, but I’m not poli-savvy in any way, so I’m not going to bother. (Well, I’m a little savvy, but not savvy enough to write an entire post on politics, yah know?)

I also just took on a ridiculous amount of freelance work that’s due in a week. That may or may not have a good idea. Oh well. Money is always fun to have, especially because of the wedding.

Let’s go back to this Bachelorette/Bridal Shower/Birthday thing. It’s all happening on the same day (Saturday) because my work schedule is ridiculous and I booked my birthday off from Job #2 because, well, I don’t want to work on my birthday if I don’t have to. Since it’s conveniently one month away from the wedding, it happens to also be the perfect time for the “let’s get the bride to be regrettably drunk” party.  So, it’s a 3-in-one event. Unfortunately my maids won’t all be able to attend, but such is life when you have careers and babies I guess. I’m sure C did a fabulous job planning everything – I have no idea what’s in store! So, if I drop off the face of the blog and Twitter, I’m obviously passed out and sunburnt on the roof of some hotel. (No Hangover reference whatsoever, I swear)

That’s all I got. Time to do important stuff. Like stress.

What are YOU opting out of today?

Ten on Tuesday

1. What is the weather like in your city today?

It’s a mixed bag in Kamloops today! It was cloudy and a little windy when I first woke up, then it turned a little rainy, and now it’s sunny/cloudy. Ah, the joys of spring in Canada.

2. Do you like the zoo?

I haven’t been in AGES, but I love it! Where else do you get to see animals from far away places?

3. Do you eat coconut?

It’s not my favourite flavour, but I eat it sometimes, usually if it’s baked into something. If I have a choice, I pick something different though.

4. Have you ever hammered a nail? Are you good at it?

I have indeed. I wouldn’t call myself a pro, but I can hang a picture on the wall just fine. Swinging a sledgehammer, however, is a totally different story. “Laughable” is what Kyle would describe it as.

5. Does your family have a vacation destination that you visit often?

We don’t, but I’m okay with th.at for now. I’d love property on a lake someday, even it’s a cozy little cabin.

6. How many pillows do you sleep with?

One, and I only use just a little section of it, lol. I don’t understand people who need more than two pillows!

7. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

Besides assassinating the alarm clock, usually I go pee, grab my newspaper and let the dog out.

8. Will you send your kids to summer camp?

If there’s one available, yes. I went to a science camp for a week and it was a lot of fun! I think it’s good for both the parents and the kids. Break from kids AND they get to learn. Woo!

9. What do you put in your baked potatoes?

Butter, sour cream, bacon bits and chives (when I have them). Delicious!

10. Did you take swimming lessons as a kid?

I did. I took them until I was in Grade 5 I think and then I lost interest. You can only tread water so many times before it gets boring. I’m glad I just know how to swim.
