Ten on Tuesday

1. What’s the recipe for your favorite drink? (Smoothie, alchoholic, coffee, whatever.)

I don’t know if I have a favourite drink. I’ll go with Caesars. So, Clamato, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, vodka. Preferably with a pickled bean.

2. What kind of razor do you use?

I think it’s a Venus Embrace? I just grabbed whatever Costco had for the Venus line. Razors are freakin’ expensive!

3. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?

Probably Snuffaluffagus. Or the Count.

4. What makes the perfect salad? (Lettuce type, toppings, dressing, etc.)

I really like Caesar salad or Greek salad. Usually when I go to restaurants if there’s a Caesar salad option I go with that one.

5. What was your favourite subject in school?

I don’t know if Phys. Ed. counts as a subject, but I did like it. I’ll go with English. It was at least my best subject.

6. What’s your favourite summer tradition?

We try to have a big barbecue with all our friends at least once a summer. It’s a lot of fun.

7. Do you suffer from seasonal allergies? How do you combat them?

Oh hell, do I ever. I combat them with allergy pills (right now it’s Arius) and just staying indoors. Seriously, I go outside on certain days and I’m sniffley within 10 minutes.

8. How often do you have to charge your cell phone?

Every night. It’s such a battery hog, it’s ridiculous.

9. Do you have a bucket list?

Not yet, but I do want to do such things like skydiving. That’s about it.

10. Do you have any desire to go back to school?

I’ve often thought about it, but not really. I certainly don’t miss it.

All Work, Some Play

Whew! The past week has been CRAAAZY for me. Like, ridiculous. I’m going to break it down for you in bullet-form since I’m pretty sure that if I wrote this as an actually post it would have no flow what-so-ever. At least bullets are nice to look at.

  • So, the first day I went back to Job #1 after the wedding there was an in-office position up for grabs in the editorial department. When did it close? Oh, just the next day! So, I sent off my resume and hoped for the best. I had to wait another week while it was posted to the public. Lame-o.
  • Last Monday after it was done running for the public, I got asked to go for an interview for the position on Wednesday. Terrified and excited, I tried not to get my hopes up.
  • Wednesday comes along, I go for my interview and come out feeling … just okay. Some people are excellent during interviews. Me, not so much. Hello, Introvert! Needless to say, I tried not to get my hopes up again.
  • Thursday I get called in for a meeting.
  • Friday I had a “quick and dirty” training session. Yep, I got the job!
  • Now I’m working full time until they find someone to replace me. So, 1/2 a day in the old department, 1/2 a day in the new department.
  • Raises are fantastic.
  • I’m still working part-time, but the raise makes up for that. And it’s one step closer in the direction I want to go in my career.
  • Tomorrow is my last shift at Job #2. Hell yes!
  • I played in a softball/slo-pitch tournament this weekend and I got my first sunburn of the year. My face feels horrible.
  • My legs are killing me.
  • I’m pretty sure I need to get my ass back in the gym.
  • I had a freaking blast playing the weekend. I really missed it!
  • Oh, and the fan went on my laptop on Thursday, so hopefully Kyle can pick it up sometime today.
That’s it. Happy Monday!
How was YOUR weekend?

WTW: Hours Before

Nothing is more surreal than waking up in the morning and knowing that by the end of the day you’re going to be a wife, you’ll have a husband and you have a whole new name.

I barely slept the night before the wedding. I think I may have got four hours total? Despite my lack of sleep, I didn’t feel too horrible. Perhaps it was my nerves, although I didn’t feel nervous overall. By 8:00 a.m., myself and my three bridesmaids were at the hair salon waiting our turns to have our herr-did.

Being such a loving bride, I headed to Tim Horton’s to get my girls well-deserved coffee and muffins. Still, no nerves. Even at the salon, one of the hair stylists commented on how ridiculously calm I appeared, trying to get my gears going. If anything, however, I was quiet. Perhaps trying to contain my anxiety and stress, knowing that everything I have planned, worked on and detailed out was all being laid on the line that afternoon.

My first moment of “Oh my god, this is actually happening” was when I finally sat down in the stylist’s chair at 11:00 a.m. My photographer was there, my girls’ all had there hair done, and the hot rollers were going in. The next moment was when I was done and my veil was stuck in my hair ever so delicately. But still, I did not let it show.

After we got back from the salon, it was time to eat lunch. My grandma, love her to death, had prepared a huge batch of my favourite mac’ n’ cheese, chicken wings, fruits and veggies. I didn’t realize how hungry I was until I devoured all my food and went back for seconds. Eating a carb-loaded meal really helped calm my nerves back down.

The girls started getting dressed after we ate and I put on a touch of make up. After they were dressed, we hung my wedding dress up for the photographer to take some shots and then it was time for me to put it on. *insert another surreal moment here*

My mom laced up the back and snugged it up. She started crying but I refrained. The girls and I gathered in the back yard for a few photos with the photographer.

The limousine arrived at 2:30, right on time. My step-dad loaded it up with our cooler of water, beer and coolers. We got in at 2:40 and make our paced journey down to the ceremony venue. We had her take the “scenic” route so we wouldn’t be too early. At 2:55 we arrived at the venue and I saw my dad standing outside waiting for us to arrive. That was the first time I showed any emotion and started to cry a little. This was it. It was really happening. After a few deep breaths, I emerged from the limo and we made our way into the entrance of the ceremony venue.

The music started, my girls started their walked, and there I was, just my dad and I, waiting. Still, no tears, but still, absolutely nervous. So nervous my whole body tingled. And when my “walking down the aisle” music started, I couldn’t help but smile.
