Reading // The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion. I’m about half-way through and I’m enjoying it quite a bit!

Watching // Summer TV series that are winding up, including So You Think You Can Dance (I love all the finalists and can’t pick a pony!), Masterchef (Go Derrick!), and a whole bunch of The Incredible Dr. Pol, which Isla and I have recently discovered. I thought she’d be squeamish, but she now asks to watch Dr. Pol and understands that animals get sick just like humans.

Listening to // “Hooked on a Feeling.” Actually, it’s just kind of stuck in my head because of a baseball commercial, and it really just reminds me of the Dancing Baby:

Anyone remember when that first went viral?? Oh, how far we’ve come …

Loving // Watching Norah grow! Even though I’ve “done it all” with Isla already, it’s still amazing to see Norah go through life’s little milestones.

Just a little "Then & Now" shot!

Just a little “Then & Now” shot!

Thinking // About how on earth I’m going to get started on my Couch to 5K training. Unless I wake up at 4 in the morning or start at 10 p.m., it’s going to be tough to find the time to do it. I used to go for walks all the time when Isla was small enough to sit in the stroller, but now that she’s bigger and Norah is here, it’s tough to escape the house. I’ll figure it out, I’m sure, but the motivation certainly isn’t there.

Needing // Clothes. As materialistic as it may sound, my wardrobe (I feel) is seriously lacking. Some retail therapy is definitely in the near future!

Anticipating // Isla’s entry into the next level of dance class next weekend. The classes are an hour long and she’s been begging to go back to class for about a month now!

Looking forward to // More amazing fall weather. I’m loving that I can wear jeans, flip flops and short-sleeved shirts. Some of the trees in my neighbourhood are already having their leaves change colours. I’m fairly certain fall is my favourite season!

(Fun fall fact: I absolutely do not like pumpkin spice lattes but I love pumpkin pie with ALL THE WHIPPED CREAM.)

What’s your favourite season?
And for those who have kids and run – How do you find time?

Reading // Nada. Still. There’s a new Jennifer Weiner book coming out next month that I’ll probably pick up, but I just don’t have the energy to read. I remember when Isla was born I’d read on my Kobo while nursing, but it’s tougher to find R&R time with Norah since Isla needs entertaining as well. So, my bookshelf remains pathetically empty.

Watching // Friends and OITNB on Netflix (which is underwhelming this season), plus Masterchef, Rookie Blue, and So You Think You Can Dance on “regular” TV.

Listening to // A lot of Maroon 5 still. I’m actually growing a little tired of everything that’s in my car, but I keep forgetting to bring my USB stick into the house to update my playlist.

Loving // These moments:

Thinking // About Kyle’s venture back to work next week. It’s going to be tough not having him at home, but I know he can’t be around forever. He’s been such an amazing help and I’m probably going to have a few mental breakdowns while I adjust to him not being here during the day. Ah well.

Needing // Clothes that are not so shlumpy looking as my body adjusts from pregnancy to pre-pregnancy. I have three pairs of shorts that fit and only one of them are “good” enough (IMO) to go out into public in. Blarg.

Anticipating // Isla’s Thursday visits to my mom’s once again. Our schedule has been out of whack since Norah’s arrival two weeks ago (already!!) but this week Isla will resume her Thursday dinner visits with her Gamma. Plus, when Kyle does go back to work, I’ll have a couple hours of just Norah and I time, which will be nice.

Looking forward to // Watching Norah grow, and her and Isla creating a sisterly bond.

Currently: Isla Edition

Time // 7:07 a.m.

Place // Sitting “at the bar” in the kitchen.

Eating // Cereal, her breakfast staple at the moment. She likes Cheerios mixed with some kind of sugary goodness. (Right now it’s Trix.) And I’ll admit that I totally just put Cheerios in her bowl to cut back on the sugar. When she’s done her cereal she usually asks for a yogurt as well.

Drinking // Milk at every meal, and asks for juice or water during the day when she’s thirsty. She doesn’t like pop (I think it’s the carbonation) or coffee, lol. Actually, every beverage that Kyle and I drink (that isn’t milk, juice, or water) is either “beer” (anything in a can) or coffee (anything in a mug).

Watching // Paw Patrol and Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood. She also likes watching Friends on Netflix with me, and she adored Gilmore Girls. (Seriously – she would pretend to talk on the phone with Lorelai and would tell me that Sookie is in the kitchen.)

Reading // A book that her great-grandparents brought back from Hawaii for her. It’s about a sea turtle named Limu and his underwater Hawaiian garden. She likes it because of all the turtles, I like it because it’s a short read ;)

Learning // Dance moves! She’s been in dance lessons for about a month now and absolutely loves it. I placed her in lessons just in time for the big recital at the end of this month, so it should be interesting to see how the little ones do on the big stage!

Wanting // To pick songs in the car (“Shut Up and Dance” is her go-to right now, followed closely by “Shake it Off” (still, ugh), and “Uptown Funk.”) She also wants to do things herself more often than not these days, which is a constant reminder of how big she’s getting. “I’LL DO IT!” is what I hear when she doesn’t want my help with something, like going potty (which she’s nearly mastered) and getting in and out of “her” seat at the kitchen counter.

Needing // To keep busy. She doesn’t do well when she’s bored (nor do I), so she needs something to do to occupy her time. We do park days, outside time, and other fun adventures to keep her mind occupied. When the weather’s not so great it’s harder, but she enjoys colouring, puzzle building and movie watching as well!

Anticipating // The arrival of her baby sister, who she’s certain is going to come out of my belly button. While she claims that she’s going to love her and share her toys with her, I’m skeptical ;)
