TGIF v.15

The high of my week was reaching the 30 week mark in this pregnancy, having a random visit with a friend while our kids played to their heart’s content, celebrating my Mom’s birthday, watching Isla’s face light up when I remind her that it’s dance class day.

The low of my week was no lows, really, other than Isla showing some heavy signs of threenagerism. She’s full of attitude some days and it gets to be a little ridiculous at times.

An internet find I loved was not a find, but my dear friend Melissa opened up her very own Etsy shop, Scribble Bee Designs. She’s an amazingly talented artist and her shop sells custom-made watercolour family portraits, inspired by (but not limited to!) baby-wearing. You should definitely go check it out! She’s even having a giveaway right now to help launch her shop, so be sure to check out her Facebook page to enter!

The best money I spent was on the following adorable matching shirt & onesie for Isla and her Baby Sister! I actually did my first bit of shopping for Baby N yesterday and picked up a “Going home” outfit, the onesie, and a sleeper. (Isla also got the Big Sister shirt, a tunic with matching leggings, shorts, and another shirt.)

My favourite Isla moment was her telling me to “Calm my tits.” She picks up on a LOT of my vocabulary and while I haven’t said this particular phrase in quite some time, she clearly remembers me saying it. Kyle and I laughed pretty hard, especially since I wasn’t freaking out (in my eyes, at least) when she said that to me.

The song that has been stuck in my head is “I’m an Albatraoz” by AronChupa. So stinkin’ catchy!

My favourite meal of the week was the Greek salad I made on Tuesday. I chopped up the veggies smaller than usual and they tossed some orzo into it for fun. BEST DECISION EVER. Who said pregnancy cravings were bad? That being said, I did by a giant bag of candy from the grocery store’s bulk section and devoured it all by Wednesday. Now that’s bad and I’m pretty ashamed of myself.

My plans for the weekend are looking at a house on Friday, a playdate at the park on Saturday if it’s nice (fingers crossed), and the usual Sunday errands (groceries, meal planning, etc!).

Pregnancy 2.0: 30 Weeks

30 weeks

Size of Baby: Baby N is about the size of a summer cantaloup, according to my pregnancy app, which is funny because it looks like I’m smuggling watermelons under my shirt. Really, she feels like she’s closer to the size of a watermelon sometimes too, especially when she decides to set up camp in my ribs.

Feeling: Okay. I’ve been having motivation issues lately and my aching body certainly isn’t helping. Lugging our vacuum up the stairs to vacuum the carpet is a chore in its own right. Things that are also becoming a challenge to do are: Shoulder-checking while driving (can one put tow mirrors on a VW Golf?), getting up off the couch, and reaching things set far back on deep counters. Blarg. Kyle says I’ve complained a lot more during this pregnancy and that doesn’t surprise me one bit.

Craving: Candy! My sweet tooth is getting out of control and while I’m trying SO hard to watch my sugar intake, it’s hard! While at the grocery store on Saturday I bought a bunch of candy from the bulk section, and on Monday I bought more. Shame on me …

Other: I had my prenatal appointment on Monday and all looked great, according to my doctor! I now start seeing him every two weeks, which is a huge, “Holy crap, this pregnancy is FLYING by” moment. Isla seems to enjoy coming to the appointments with me as well; she stands on the little stool while the doctor checks Baby’s heart rate and it’s the most adorable thing. Hard to believe that in just a couple of months we’ll become a family of 4 …

We’re also slowly plugging away at getting the nursery all set up again. There’s a bunch of paint to touch up and we’ve yet to build Isla’s new dresser so we can put her old one in the nursery, but we’re getting there. I also need to buy some curtains to hang because the amount of sunlight that comes into the kids’ rooms is crazy. It’s pretty surreal seeing the crib all set up again!

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

I stumbled across this post by Krysten and figured, “Ah, why not?!”

What is your favourite TV show that’s on Netflix?
Right now I’m re-watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix (Isla LOVES it and asks to watch all the time, lol). But for Netflix originals, I love Orange is the New Black and can’t wait to start watching season 3 when it starts! Just remind me to pace myself so I don’t watch the entire series in 2 days :P

Dogs or cats? Why?
Dogs, all the way. For one, I’m allergic to cats, so I can’t necessarily bond with them. And I find cats to be temperamental divas. Not that dogs can’t be – it’s just that cats are more, “I love you! I HATE YOU.”

What’s your favourite colour?
I think it’s safe to say that purple is my favourite colour right now. Isla’s rooms (her old nursery/the baby’s room and her current room) are accented in purple, and I find myself drawn to the colour. Yellow is also my “happy” colour

What is your go-to drink?
If we’re talking non-alcoholic, I generally order iced tea or Sprite/7-Up in restaurants. At Starbucks I usually get a Vanilla Latte (iced or hot), or a Passion Tea Lemonade. If we’re getting boozy, I generally go for Caesars or vodka-7’s, but honestly, I haven’t had a drink in so long that I don’t know what my go-to alcoholic beverage is.

What is your favourite type of social media?
I lean heavily towards Instagram when I post anything, mostly because from there I post to Facebook and Twitter at the same time. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I posted anything on Twitter that wasn’t related to an Instagram post as well.

When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
I’m certain I wanted to be a dentist at first, and then at some point in elementary school that switched to a veterinarian. In high school I wanted to be a pyrotechnician (random, right?), and then that switched to a career in either Marketing or Journalism.

Tell me 5 things that make you happy.
My family, sunny days/warm weather, puppies, cupcakes, lake days.

How old were you when you had your first kiss? Tell us about it!
My first kiss (on the lips) was when I was in Grade 7, after our “prom.” It was forced and awkward and overall just weird.
What is your favourite thing about the blog world?
That you can be as honest or as vague as you like and no one seems to mind. On Facebook if you’re vague people get all, “Oh, she just wants attention,” or if you’re honest you get attacked for being honest. Not that this doesn’t happen in the blog world, but I think it just happens less. And I love how you can connect with so many different types of people from all over the country/continent/world!

So there you go! I’m supposed to nominate people as well, but like Krysten, I’ll just let anyone who wants to participate copy, paste & answer the following 10 questions on their blog:

1) If you could instantly be amazingly talent in a specific area (art, sports, skills, etc.), what would you choose?
2) You’re stranded on a deserted island with only three things – what are they?
3) Did you have names picked out for your future children when you were a kid? Are you still certain about them today?
4) Cake, cupcakes, or cake pops?
5) Gilmore Girls fans: Chris, Max, Jason, or Luke for Lorelei?
6) You have just $2000 to travel to anywhere it takes you – where do you go?
7) What colour polish do you gravitate towards when you get a pedicure/manicure?
8) Mixing Play-Doh colours – totally acceptable or the 8th deadly sin?
9) You find a $100 bill just laying on the ground – what do you do with it?
10) In your mind, what makes it “officially” summer?
