Weekend Update

Hello, Monday! Here’s what the Evans household got up to this past weekend!

{Friday}
It was a beauty of a day, so we spent a good chunk of it hanging out in the yard! Isla rode her Power Wheels around, jumped on the trampoline, and played some t-ball while Kyle and I played catch. Norah had an amazing midday nap during all the fun ;)

I most definitely sent this in to America’s Funniest Home Videos!

My mom picked Isla up after work and had her over for supper, so Kyle, Norah and I headed to the mall so I could pick out my early birthday present, a new bat for slo-pitch! We had an awesome Subway dinner in the food court and then headed back home to chill before Isla returned.

{Saturday}
Kyle went paintballing in Vernon with a bunch of guys, so it was just the girls and I for most of the day! One of my BFF’s came to visit (her husband was also a part of the paintballing crew) until I had to take Isla to dance lessons. After lessons we came home and had lunch, and I just puttered around the house doing laundry and being lazy. Everyone came back around 4:30-5ish and we threw some hamburgers on the barbecue for dinner. It was an awesome little impromptu visit with our favourite friends!

{Sunday}
We had a pretty lazy day for the most part; we watched the Blue Jays game in the morning and just lounged around the house for most of the day. In the afternoon I dropped Isla and Norah off at my mom’s before heading out to play slo-pitch. It felt SO GOOD being out on the field again, even though we lost both games. (We played pretty good for the first games of the season, in our defence!)

Of course, today I’m really feeling those two games and I just hurrrrrrt. It’s a good thing I have nothing going on today, because it’s going to be a lazy one!

How was your weekend? What’s your go-to food court food?

Weekend Update

Really, our weekend festivities started on Thursday, when Kyle’s guy friends arrived for a little belated birthday celebration!

While I wanted to surprise him with their visit, the last time I tried to pull the wool over Kyle’s eyes it turned out to be an epic fail so I preplanned it this time around with Kyle’s blessing. They got to our place around dinner time and I barbecued some hamburgers up and the man-talk begun!

{Friday}
The boys went off to the gun range and I stayed at home with the girls and did laundry/played some video games. Priorities, yo. ;) Norah had an epic afternoon nap (2 hours!) so I packed up my bags as the girls and I were going to crash at my mom’s for the night to let the boys have free reign of the house! We had a fairly decent night at my mom’s, although Norah had a bit of a tough time getting to sleep for the evening.

{Saturday}
Isla was up at 6 am but thankfully her grandpa was awake, so she hung out and watched cartoons upstairs with him and my mom until Norah and I emerged from our room. We lounged around for the morning until it was time to get Isla ready to go to dance. My mom watched Norah while I took Isla, so I even got a kid-free grocery shopping trip in! When lessons were done, we headed back to my mom’s for lunch and took in some of the “valley” warm weather and sunshine! While there’s still a butt-load of snow at my house up on the hill, my mom’s tulips & crocuses are already starting to bloom. Jealous!

I eventually got all our crap packed up and we headed home. The house was all in one piece and it was nice to see my husband again! Since it was so gorgeous we decided to “celebrate” the weather with some Slurpees from 7-Eleven. We had a lazy evening since Isla was a bit cranky from being overtired and watched some PVR’d stuff before heading to bed.

{Sunday}
Kyle and I registered for a big walk/run that’s happening at the end of April! He’s going to do the 10K and I’m sticking with the 5K. We figured if we register now we have more motivation to actually do it! (Especially me, ha.) Kyle headed out for a run, and I stuck around the house with the girls. Norah fought her afternoon nap and didn’t really sleep, so she was super cranky by bedtime. Thankfully she went down for the night with ease and Kyle and I watched part of a movie on TV before turning in for the night.

How was your weekend?

Weekend Update

Monday again already? Time is just zipping by, and I cannot believe it’s already February 1!

Here’s what we got up to this past weekend:

Friday
It was a pretty quiet day, really. I decided to go for a 30-minute run on the treadmill Thursday night and was really feeling it the next day! I ran about 2.2 miles and I figure that’s not too bad considering how inactive I’ve been since finding out I was pregnant with Norah! I’m thinking that if I run at least once a week I’ll be in decent shape to run a 5K in April. (Or at least that’s what I’m going to keep telling myself.) We had barbecued pork chops for dinner and they were amazing! I cannot wait for the weather to get warmer so we can utilize the barbecue more often.

Saturday
Isla had dance lessons and I did the grocery shopping while she was in class. My mom met up with us at the studio and we headed to a new(ish) Vietnamese restaurant that I’ve been dying to try. The food was AMAZING and I’m definitely going to be a repeat customer. I had salad rolls, chicken skewers and a vermicelli noodle bowl and I was stuffed! Isla really loved the salad and spring rolls. I also had a bite of my mom’s chicken pho and it was SO good. I’m drooling just thinking of it.

After lunch my mom took Isla for a sleep over at her house, so it was just Kyle, Norah and I for the afternoon! We lazed around the house and dropped Norah off at Kyle’s mom’s for a bit so we could go enjoy a kid-free dinner! We didn’t go anywhere fancy, but it was nice to get out and be adults for a little bit! I had a cheeseburger and it was SO good.

I felt like I was really winning in the food department on Saturday, haha.

Oh, and a woman also came to look at my piano Saturday morning. I decided to sell it as it’s just taking up space and I never play it anymore, nor do I anticipate Isla or Norah taking up interest. In the end she decided it wasn’t for her, so if you or anyone you know needs a piano, just let me know! ;)

We had no special plans for Sunday. Norah had a rough night of sleep and we ended up being lazy for most of the morning. My mom brought Isla back in the afternoon and Kyle’s aunt and uncle stopped by for a visit as well. Kyle cooked up an amazing roast for dinner and I’m looking forward to having the leftovers in a sandwich for lunch!

Isla got her first bloody nose Sunday night. She was in her room sitting improperly in a chair, and she fell into her bookshelf. She didn’t break it, but it certainly didn’t feel good! Luckily she got over it in a hurry and was back to being chaotic as usual.

Oh, and here’s a picture of Norah and Campbell because why the heck not? Norah has discovered the magic that is the dogs’ food dishes, so I spend half my time making sure she’s not tipping the water dish over or eating their food.

How was your weekend??
