Weekend travels

This weekend I went out to my hometown to visit my grandparents. I haven’t been there for a few months (right after our wedding!) so I figured it was slightly overdue!

It was a gorgeous day and two of my younger cousins happened to be staying there for the weekend, so we all piled into my grandma’s van and went to the park downtown, and then to the farm to see the goats!

Describing the day is boring, so I’ll just show you in pictures!

Happy Monday!
How was your weekend?

Going Wild!

On the weekend, Callie and I decided to relive our childhood and go to the BC Wildlife Park. It’s a pretty awesome park with local and non-local wildlife and it was just fun to check out the animals as adults!

We got to see an ENORMOUS golden eagle just chilling out NOT IN A CAGE as soon as we got there. The Birds of Prey show had just finished so the eagle was sitting on a perch for people to take SUPER close up photos of it. I’m pretty sure it was bigger than me!

We also saw cougars, black and grizzly bears, moose, coyotes, wolves, mountain goats, big horn sheep, bison, owls, and more! We rode a mini-train around the park for $1, which was a lot shorter than we remembered from when we were little, ha!

Anyway, here’s some photos from the day!

What’s you’re favourite wildlife from your neck of the woods?

“Northern” Adventure

I think I’m finally, finally recovered from the wedding on the weekend. Travelling is too much work! Or at least driving is. What a ball of stress that is.

Anyway! I figured I’d share a few photos from my travels up “north”. And I put north in quotes because someone did mention to my that Prince George isn’t exactly Northern BC. Which is true. It’s actually smack-dab in the middle of the province. Proof:

But – we crazy BC “Interior” kids call it the north because really – after Prince George, there isn’t much else.

Anyway, this isn’t a post about Canadian geography! It’s about the WEDDING! Sheesh.

I left for PG around 8:30 Thursday morning after feeding Kyle breakfast (he had just got off night shift!). The drive was actually really nice – minimal traffic, good weather, no moose-dodging. Sorry – no photos, because I was on a deadline to get to the rehearsal at the church by 2 p.m. Did I do it? Well, I could’ve if it wasn’t for stupid road construction. Not even fair. It made me late by about 10 minutes. Anyway, I got to the church and joined in on the rehearsal, which consisted of walking up and down the aisle a couple times and going through the readings.

After the rehearsal was the rehearsal dinner which was held at the groom’s aunt and uncle’s house. It was AMAZING! Steak, potatoes, garden-grown veggies, yummy appies – heaven, especially since all I had to eat was a strip of bacon, a few bites of hashbrowns and some dill pickle chips.

From there we went and got ready for the Bachelorette party, which ended up being a Jack & Jill-style party since only one bar was open in the entire city. Ah well! It was a lot of fun and we got the bride good and pickled.

Friday was kind of a free day, although we did head to a day-spa and had our nails done. I had my first manicure ever and I’m not so sure I liked it. Regardless, here’s a photo of my pretty nails:

I did like how the girl got my nails to be all the same shape. Normally they’re all oddly shaped and fugly. So yay for that!

Also on Friday I FINALLY met an online friend for the first time. Yay for creating IRL friends! It was great to meet her and it was like we’ve been friends for ages. I hope to see her again soon!

Saturday was the big day and we were up early to have our hair done. My hair was a little, umm, big? I didn’t want huge poufy hair, but that’s kind of what I got. And really, it was worse than in the photo but I got the stylist to bring it down a notch. The backcombing was ridiculous.

But – the bride thought it looked great and that’s all that mattered! (Oh, and those bridesmaids dresses we had to wear kind of looked okay while we all together!) (Also – Sorry for that link being password protected – leave a message for the password!)

The wedding went off without a hitch and the reception was amazing! Delicious food, dancing and touching speeches filled the night. And – the MOH and I snuck off to the newly wedded couple’s hotel room and decorated it a little bit. Bwahaha!

So, here’s a some photos for you guys. Enjoy, and Happy Wednesday!
