Wednesday Weekend Update

Yeah, it’s Wednesday, and technically, the weekend was a few days ago, but because it was a long weekend here in (most of) Canada, today is only my second day back to work. Ha! I’m pretty stoked on the short work week, although that just means next week is going to draaaag on by. Lame. Anywho …

My long weekend was uber fabulous and relaxed. On Saturday I went golfing with my mom at a local golf course (there’s about 10 courses in and around Kamloops alone!) and I whooped her butt! Okay, I only beat her by 11 strokes, and my score was waaaaay beyond the course par, but still – a win is a win, haha! It was fun golfing with just my mom and we were exhausted and hot after 18 holes, so we stopped at Starbucks for Passion Tea Lemonade and Chicken Santa Fe paninis afterwards. Delicious!

On Sunday I drove to Kelowna to visit my MOH. She came down from Fort St. John to stay at her mom’s for a couple weeks since her wedding is all planned and ready to go, lucky duck. I wasn’t finished planning until the night before the big day. Such is life when you have a planner I guess …

Anyway, we took her daughter Lilly to the beach, which conveniently happens to be a block from her mom’s house. It was super cute watching her go in the water – she hasn’t been to the beach since she was a newborn, so it was funny to see her facial expressions when she walked in the sand and went in the water. Priceless! I can’t wait to have kids of my own to take to the beach; it’s like reliving your childhood.

I even got a little bit sunburnt on my shoulders and back – my second burn on the year! I gotta remember to apply sunscreen more often.

I took a few photos (all of Lilly, of course), so I’ll share some:

Have you been to the beach lately?

When Mosquitoes Attack

So, at the beginning of the month Kyle and I went to his friend’s wedding out in the middle of nowhere. Well, kind of nowhere. It’s a little nook at the end of a gorgeous local lake called Seymour Arm. It was sunny, it was hot. It was a two hour drive into Mosquitoville, BC, Canada.

I kid you not. I was eaten ALIVE. I’m pretty sure I’ve whined about this a couple times already. Or maybe a few dozen. Anyway, it sucked. Luckily, the itchiness only lasted a couple days and now I just have lovely red marks all over my legs. Hopefully they go away soon, because my legs are looking less than sexy. Not that I’m saying that they are sexy to begin with, but whatever they had, it’s gone now.

Proof:

Ugh.

Anyway! Back to the wedding!

It was lovely and sweet, simply and low-key. There were maybe 40-50 guests, so Kyle and I felt really lucky to have been invited. And other than the long drive down a dirt road and the mosquitoes everywhere, the scenery was fabulous. I just wish I was more handy with my camera so I could’ve taken better shots!

Regardless of my photo skills, here are some photos from that weekend, and congrats to TW and Heather!

Day 23

Favourite Vacation

My favourite vacation was when during Spring Break of Grade 9. Every winter my grandparents Snowbird down to Palm Springs and that year, they had invited myself and my brother to go visit them during Spring Break. My brother, for whatever reason, didn’t want to fly down, so I ended up going all by myself!

It was the first trip on a plane that I could really remember (I vaguely remember our place trip when we went to Disneyland). I landed in Palm Springs wearing a sweater and pants and quickly switched to shorts and a sleeveless shirt! My very first stop was to a “family” pub called the Beerhunter, where my grandparents insisted I drink virgin strawberry daiquiris. They also took me my very first Target, to an awesome waterpark complete with giant wave pool, a night market, a day market (where I got a little bit of heat stroke), and to my very first Mongolian grill. I also got to see my Nana, which was awesome because I didn’t get to see her very often.

That was my most favourite trip. There’s a couple really close seconds, including me and Kyle’s all-inclusive trip to Vancouver for his Top in Trades award. (Click the link, he’s the second article from the top!) Perhaps I’ll write about that another day!
