TGIF v.39

A high of the week was going out to my hometown to visit with my grandpa, aunt and cousin! My grandpa has been splitting his time between there and Burnaby, so whenever he’s there my mom and I try our best to go out and visit. It was especially nice that my aunt and cousin came up with him for the weekend, so we got to catch up a bit! We busied ourselves by going to the park and walking down to the pumpkin patch, and it was a blast!

A low of the week was nothing, really! I wasn’t even too saddened by the Walking Dead. (I kind of saw it coming.) That’s not to say that I won’t miss the characters though!

An internet find I loved was Pentatonix’s version of “Hallelujah.” I’ve always loved that song (major props to Leonard Cohen), and their version is just beautiful. Check it out on YouTube:

The best money I spent was $11 on a Blu-Ray player for basement. Our old one stopped working mid-movie and I found one on a Facebook bidding site. Lucky me for the winning bid, and now Isla can watch her movies downstairs again!

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was being able to spend some one-on-one time with Norah while Isla is at preschool. On Tuesday we had some time to waste before picking her up, so we walked to the nearby park and Norah got to play and explore all on her own. I think Norah appreciates the time as well; she doesn’t have to fight for attention and gets me all to herself!

The song that has been stuck in my head is “Hallelujah” by the Pentatonix, obviously, but Maroon 5’s new single “Don’t Wanna Know” has also been on repeat!

My meals of the week were:

Monday: Baked meatballs
Tuesday: Barbecued chicken with Caesar salad and these Greek potatoes.
Wednesday: Roast beef
Thursday: Jambalaya

My plans for the weekend are Halloween party for Isla and Norah, and pumpkin carving! (Something tells me I’m going to regret getting 5 pumpkins …)

What are your plans for the weekend? Are you dressing up for Halloween?

TGIF v.38

A high of the week was winding up slo-pitch season with all sorts of good feelings in our dugout. We came in 2nd in our bracket and really came together as a team over this past season. I’m going to miss playing with those goons and am already looking forward to the spring!

And of course, I mustn’t forget about the epic 11-inning AL Wild Card game that the Blue Jays won on Tuesday, sending them to the ALDS! I was on the edge on my seat for the whole game and they absolutely KILLED it yesterday! Lets hope the trend continues today!

A low of the week was Isla catching her second cold of the school year. I knew it was bound to happen when she started school, but so far we’ve had one a month, and that’s ridiculous.

An internet find I loved was this video:

The best money I spent was spent at Costco so I could restock my freezer and pantry ;)

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was being able to go on a field trip with Isla’s preschool on Monday. We went to the pumpkin patch and Norah got to tag along as well! We fed sheep, picked pumpkins, went on a tractor ride, and fun was had by all!

The song that has been stuck in my head is “The Greatest” by Sia.

My meals of the week were:

Monday: Spaghetti
Tuesday: Take-out pizza
Wednesday: Sausages
Thursday: Fried Chicken

My plans for the weekend are lunch with friends who are visiting from out of town, dinner with my mom, and a much-needed movie date with Kyle!

What are you weekend plans? Did you watch any baseball this week??

TGIF v.37

A high of the week was Kyle being off for the week and going to visit good friends of ours in our hometown. It had been FOREVER since we had all been together, so it was great to hang out!

Who can say no to this gorgeous sunset?

We had plans to go to the park and take part in the Movie in the Park event, but opted to hang out at “the farm” and have dinner and visit instead. I think it worked out better that way! Isla and Norah had a blast and slept HARD on the way home.

A low of the week was learning that we’re not allowed to chop down a tree in our front yard. The city planted it way back when our area was being developed (2002) but it attracts aphids which attract wasps which is NO GOOD. There are literally THOUSANDS of wasps in this tree because they are feasting on the aphid’s waste (or poop, if you prefer), and that waste is all over our vehicles as well. We want to chop the tree down and replace it with something else, but we’re not allowed to just hack away at it; we have to wait for a city worker to come and “assess” the situation. Ugh.

Also, I stupidly entered my address in wrong on a Zulily order and Canada Post couldn’t get their crap together and find my actually address, so it’s being returned to Zulily’s depot and I’m shit outta luck on my order. At least I’m being refunded? I’m bummed because I was excited for the shirts I ordered for Kyle and Isla. :(

An internet find I loved was this:

If you say “Rise Up Lights” is sounds like “Razor Blades” in an Australian accent.

You know you said that out loud and laughed a little ;)

The best money I spent was on Isla’s new Skip Hop lunch bag. (Which she actually paid for with birthday money but I helped with the difference.) She picked the unicorn and it’s adorable!

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was being able to just let them play and be little while we were visiting our friends. It was great that they were able to play outside and we didn’t have to worry about traffic or strangers or any of that “stuff” that comes along with living in the city.

The song that has been stuck in my head is “Poets” by The Tragically Hip. I’m not even a big Hip fan but with all the hype that their last cross-Canada tour has garnered, it was hard not to get one of their songs stuck in my head.

My meals of the week were:

Monday: Chicken wings in the Actifry
Tuesday: Meatballs
Wednesday: Hamburgers and hot dogs
Thursday: Salmon
Friday: To be determined … Anyone have ideas for me?

And an honourable mention goes to my amazing Eggs Benedict breakfast on Sunday morning ;)

My plans for the weekend are no plans! We’ll probably just relax and enjoy Kyle’s last couple of days off before he heads back to work on Monday.
