Seven (Very) Quick Takes

It’s Friday afternoon, and I haven’t posted anything. Here’s Seven (Very) Quick Takes, since I’m at work.

1. It’s dead in the office right now. Hence the blog post.

2. My new mattress gets delivered tomorrow. It’s a Simmons and I’m excited. No more uncomfortable sleep! No more waking Kyle up with my tossing, turning and constant getting up to pee!

3. I am rocking the freelance work. The extra paychecks are wonderful. My first one more or less paid for my entire new mattress set!

4. Us Canadians get TURKEY DINNER this weekend! I’m excited. My mom is cooking dinner on Monday. I WANT STUFFING SOOOO BAD. You American readers should be jealous because you have to wait another month & a half for you Thanksgiving. Actually, it seems that we like to “one-up” you when it comes to holidays. National holidays? Ours is three days before yours. Boo-yah! I still love you guys though. You’re so much more patriotic than us.  I guess we just like to keep things on the DL.

5. Some jerk took my lunch out of the refrigerator at work and put it on the counter! How rude! It’s a good thing I actually went to the lunch room for my coffee break or my fruit would have been warm. Unacceptable!

6. It needs to snow because I’m tired of waking up early to pick up my dog’s poop before the guy who mows to lawn gets here.

7. Everyone I know is having babies. Okay, not everyone, but a lot of people. Stop it. I’m jealous. But I don’t want a baby at the moment. Or do I? I don’t think Kyle and I are quite ready yet.

Seven Quick Takes

During the week, the power has gone out every single day. The electric company is upgrading the power on my street, which I guess is a good thing, but it’s frustrating! On Wednesday, I didn’t think it was going to go out, so I started boiling some eggs, and it went out. Grr! Yesterday it went out for an hour, which was the longest period of time so far. I only have to survive through next week with random outages and they’re suppose to be done.

My freelance story was publishing and distributed on Saturday, which was pretty exciting, expect I didn’t get a byline! I’m thinking it’s because it was a Q&A, but still! The rest of my freelance work is coming out sometime next week.

Every since Kyle and I moved to our new place, we have not gone to McDonald’s a single time for breakfast! Yeah, it sounds disgusting, but we used to go at least once per weekend. I guess being further away from (the good) McDonald’s has some benefits.

I’m contemplating taking kickboxing lessons at a ladies only kickboxing facility! It’s only 10 minutes from my house and they have a whole bunch of different class times that work for with my crazy schedule. I need to get back in shape, so why not kick-ass at the same time?

I’ve finally started reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! It was really hard getting past the first boring bit, but it’s starting to get good! I’m still not sure if I’ll read the rest of the series; I guess it will depend on how I like the rest of the book.

I’m excited that all my favourite fall TV shows are back on air! Right now I’m addicted to Weeds on Sunday; Glee on Tuesday; Survivor, The Ultimate Fighter and ANTM on Wednesday; and Grey’s and Private Practice on Thursday. So far I’ve had to work a lot during the week at Job #2, which makes me pretty happy to be able to watch them all online the next morning.

I’ve been watching way too much of The Doctors. It’s got to the point where I’m all, “OMG, I HAVE THAT!” I was already a little bit of a hypochondriac, but this had definitely made it worse.

Seven Quick Takes

I landed a little freelance project within Job #1, and I’m pretty excited about it! My first assignment should be really easy, and it’s not due until the 26th, so I should be able to write a 500-word-or-less Q&A by then, right? Right! It should be a very amusing Q&A, to say the least.

The Roommate was in Alberta this week to try and find a job because a) He’s broke, and b) He needs hours for his welding ticket. Luckily, he found work in Edmonton, but sadly, he starts on Monday :( I’m a little sad to see him leave, and I know Kyle is too. As much as I like Kyle and I being able to have the house to ourselves, the Roommate never really felt like a roommate, more like family. On Sunday he’s packing up, taking the essentials and heading North-East. He’ll probably be back in September to get the rest of his stuff.

Also, it may sound horrible of me, but I’m not sure if his relationship with C will last very long depending on how long he’s gone. I could go off on a Dr. Phil-like tangent on why I think that, but I’ll save that for a different post.

Kyle and I may actually have empty nest syndrome come next week. As it turns out, Kyle’s sister is not moving back to Kamloops (she got a good job offer where she is now) and is staying. That being said, she’s coming down this weekend to visit and to take Molly home with her. :( :( I can’t remember if I mentioned it before, but the strata rules at our new place only allow one dog. I’m sad that we have to let Molly go, but at least it’s just to Kyle’s sister and I know Molly will be more than loved with her.

We’re going to go watch The Expendables tonight (as long as Kyle’s not told he has to work tomorrow, phooey!). Too lazy to click through the link? Basically, it’s every 80’s/90’s action star thrown into one hot mess of a modern action movie. We’re talking Sly Stallone, Bruce Willis, an appearance by A-Nuld himself, Jet Li, Jason Statham, and more. Oh hell yes! This is basically Kyle’s childhood dream.

Daphne had a bath about a week ago and she still stinks like lake water and wet dog. I’m not too sure why, but it’s too much work to bathe her again so I’m just going to let it go. One of these days I’ll take her to a professional groomer. She’s a stinky, matted mess when she doesn’t get brushed well.

I’ve decided that BC Medical is ridiculous because they just sent me a bill and they demanded I pay it right away because it’s overdue. Umm, what? You’re the ones who didn’t get my address right! Idiots. Anyway, I’m now $171 poorer. At least today is Double Pay Day. (I get paid from both jobs today!)

My mom and I are going to do a little shopping tomorrow and then she’s going to take my brother and I for Marble Slab ice cream. Yay! As a house-warming present she’s going to get Kyle and I some nice floor/table lamps, and she wants me to help pick them out (makes sense). My dad is getting us a deep freeze. My parents rock.
