Seven Quick Takes

Ahh, I love me some list/bullet posts!

On Tuesday I mad an appointment at the hospital for an MRI. You see, a while ago, I went in for ultrasounds because I was having weird stomach pains. The ultrasounds showed nothing as far as a cause for the pain (which has since dispersed) but they found a mass/lesion on my liver. *Cue mild panic attack* So, fast forward a few weeks, and I go for my MRI. I haaaate them, not because I’m claustrophobic, but because they have to give you an IV and put dye in you. I HATE NEEDLES. Anyway, I got a call from my Dr. and the MRI came back clean! Yay me! I just have to have bloodwork done and have another MRI in a year, but still – CLEAN! Hell yes!

I am slowly starting to get tired of the snow. It makes me sleepy. If it had a heart, I’d stab it. Sure, it’s great for all you snowboarders and skiers, but I’m getting tired of it. It snowed a poop-load yesterday and while Daphne loves it, me, not so much. My car almost got stuck on the side of the road because the plow came by and pushed it against my car. Wah, wah, wah. I’d be happier about the snow if I got snow days like everyone else. Poo!

My mom and I are going to the Bridal Fair at the end of the month! I’m pretty excited about it; I’m hoping to get some decoration ideas and maybe some favour ideas. Kyle and I were thinking about making homemade fortune cookies, but they look like a LOT of work according to the videos we YouTubed, and we’d have to make them a couple days before the wedding. And we have no other Asian elements in our wedding. Who knows though. Anyone want to sign up for a little fortune cookie slave labour?

Now that the Christmas rush is over at Job #2, I’ve had a lot more evenings off during the week, which is awesome. I missed being at home with Kyle and just vegging out on the couch watching old episodes of Family Guy and Three and a Half Men. It just makes me love our little life together in our little house even more!

I bought a bag of rice cracker mix from Costco the other night because they’re a nice tasty treat while I’m working. Or at least they were. They went and re-worked some of the flavours, adding salt and vinegar to one of the rice crackers. Yuck! Now, I love rice crackers and I love salt and vinegar, but together, they are not good at all.  My taste buds have been assaulted.

It’s amazing how some people will always have something to complain about no matter what. It irritates me beyond control, so I try my best to stay calm and ignore it. But you know what? It’s freaking hard! If pitching in $10 for a potluck means I don’t have to cook anything, I’m game. Ah, department wars …

I went to a Burlesque show last night with C. It was … a little less than expected. I think the venue was the problem. The area around the stage was packed and where we were sitting, we couldn’t see a thing. We ending up eating our $5 admission and leaving early. Oh well!

Last night I dinged up my engagement ring putting a frying pan in the drawer under the over. I was PISSED and felt so bad! Kyle didn’t think it was such a big deal, but I decided to take it to the jeweller today and get it buffed out. I figured I’d get it resized a little bit since it seems it wants to fall off constantly. Hopefully I get it back soon because I hate how naked my finger feels. In fact, I slid my promise ring on that finger so it didn’t look naked.

It snowed for nearly three straight days, except it wasn’t heavy snow, just light fluffy stuff that didn’t really stick. I think we only got a couple inches or so. Regardless, Daphne was pretty stoked on the snow:

I’ve found that I’ve lost a little bit of my desire to blog. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been busy with work and wedding planning, but when I do get a free night, blogging isn’t want I want to do. So, I’ve been trying to post at least twice a week. I feel crumby about it, but I’m sure ya’ll won’t notice too much. (And yes, I just used the word “ya’ll”)

Kyle and I have been trying to decide whether or not to combine our finances. One of the reason’s we’re hesitant is because I tend to be a spender and Kyle’s a saver. We’re also concerned about what we’d do should we ever split. Who gets what? We did have a joint account when we were saving up for our house, but we didn’t use that money for anything else. A REAL joint account would be a huge adjustment for both of us. Do any of you have a joint account with your SO? How do you decide what the money gets spent on?

Did anyone else watch Grey’s Anatomy last night? YAY Christina! Bailey, stop crying! I missed my Thursday night television!

After my mini-meltdown Wednesday, I think I’m a little bit calmer. I had a good chat with my mom, Kyle reassured me that we have plenty of time to do everything, and I gathered a lot of great ideas from my friends, blog comments and coworkers. And, my mom emailed me photos of me trying on my wedding dress to my work email, so I sneak peaks of them at work when its not busy. I can’t help but just feel excited to marry the love of my life when I look at those photos!

Tomorrow is the weekend! WOOO! That is all.

Seven Quick Takes

Do you know how hard it is to not blog about wedding junk on any other day other than Wednesdays? But, a promise is a promise, and I won’t talk about wedding details until Wednesday. I’m trying to decide what topic to choose for next week’s Wedding Talk Wednesday post, so I’ll let you help me decide! Your choices are: A) The Dress, B) The Photographer or C) Budgeting. In the event of a tie, I’ll talk about both! (Or all three … whichever way it works out!)

I finally decided to pull out my Christmas decorations from underneath the basement stairs. And that’s about as far as I got, other than hanging my wreath on the front door. I don’t plan on getting my Christmas tree until maybe next Saturday. I’m pretty sure it would die a quick and painful death if I got it any sooner. And I really wish I had a mantle to hang our stockings on! I think that may be a must-have feature in the next house Kyle and I buy. Having stockings on the wall just looks silly to me.

At exactly 4:47 p.m. (according the the clock on my computer at work), the ventilation fan at work turns off and it’s so amazingly quiet in the office. I can actually hear the police scanner in the newsroom quite well, and it’s amusing.

I have no idea what I’d like for Christmas. Seriously. Kyle keeps asking me. My family keeps asking me. I. Don’t. Know. If anyone is willing to throw out a couple suggestions, I’ll happily consider putting them on my wishlist.

I’ve been trying to figure out what I’d like to get my bridesmaids as a gift for putting up with me. (Okay, I’ll put one wedding point in this post!) I’ve really been leaning towards these from Ritzy Misfit. They’re cute and fun and may be my first Etsy shop purchase!

I went to Job #2’s Christmas party last Saturday and it was a crunkin’ good time. My feet hurt for three days after wearing my 4″ stilettos for a couple hours too many. I won an amazingly soft and cozy faux mink blanket. I can’t wait to snuggle up with it on my couch with a book if I ever have enough spare time to pick up my book again! I’m still only about 1/3 of the way through the Girl Who Played With Fire and I bought it at the end of October! That’s a new record for the longest amount of time its taken me to get through a book.

I’ve really been craving yam fries lately. I may have to buy myself a yam and whip some up. I have the best recipe ever thanks to this post by the amazingly crafty Kyla Roma. Mmm … yammy goodness! Yum yum YAM! I yam what I yam.

Okay, I’m done. Have a fabulous weekend! :D
