Seven Quick Takes

1. How is it already December?? It seems like this year has flown by!! It certainly doesn’t help that I’ve kept myself extremely busy though, with wedding planning, moving and whatnot! I’m pretty sure this year is going to be over before I know it, which is sad. It’s true – the older you get, the faster time goes by!

2. Is it wrong to say that Kyle and I miss our townhouse a little bit? Really, a lot happened in it during the short 14 months we were living there! The proposal, roommates, new jobs, the wedding … As much as we hated being attached to our neighbours and how little space we had, we miss that little bugger! I just hope our tenant keeps the townhouse in order.

3. Kyle and I are thinking about getting our Christmas tree this weekend, but I’m concerned about it drying out and needles falling all over the place before Christmas even gets here. What do you think? Should we wait another week or just go for it? All my decorations are sitting in the living room, and I think it would help make our new house feel more like home!

4. Life in general is going SO awesome right now, I wish I could share all the wonderful little details! I’ve been busy doing freelance work for a local property management company, on top of my regular freelance work, AND I finally got to cover as a reporter at work on Wednesday, which led to me getting a byline in the paper yesterday. It was pretty overwhelming and exciting! This week has been pretty amazing.

5. One of my bestest friends is FINALLY coming home in about two weeks! I’ve missed her dearly and I’m looking forward to finally getting some “girl time.” I love Kyle to death but sometimes I just need girl talk over coffee dates!

6. I’m going to take home tour pictures this weekend! Well, I may do a video, but I haven’t decided. Either way, sometime next week you’ll get a tour of our new place! We probably won’t have furniture yet, but oh well. You’ll get the idea!

7. Kyle and I are going to have our very first house guests stay with us this weekend. Friends of ours from Princeton (BC, not the university town in the US!) are coming to stay Saturday night. They had just moved into their first house on October and we went and visited their first weekend there, so they’re coming to see our place. I’m looking forward to showing off our new place!

I just realized the majority of this post was about my house. Oh well.

Questions:
When do you put up your Christmas tree?
Did this year go by fast for you too?
Should I do a house tour in photos or video? Most votes win!

Seven Quick Takes

1. Today is Remembrance Day in Canada (Veteran’s Day in the USA). We get a day off work to relax and enjoy ourselves. A couple generations ago, soldiers fought so we could have that right to do what we like, to become whoever we want to be. Let’s never forget those individuals who sacrificed everything for us.

2. Kyle and I are *hopefully* closing our deal on our new house Tuesday! We have our inspection on Monday and then possession is just under two weeks away! We can’t even comprehend it. There’s SO much to do in so little time still. I feel the urge to pack but there’s nothing I can pack because we’re still living in our townhouse.

3. I have a big announcement at the end of the month … !

4. My dog has been eating like a pig lately. Normally, she eats whenever she feels, which means that I can put food in her dish in the morning and she maybe won’t eat until the next day. It’s very bizarre, but she’s not super active, so I’m not too worried. But the past few days? Two meals a day! I’m thinking she’s getting ready for the colder weather. (She looooves to just lay outside in the cold!) And with our new house having a big yard, she’ll definitely be more active.

5. I have opted not to go to the office Christmas party this year. I didn’t go last year either since Job #2’s Christmas party was the same night and I was more the same age as my coworkers. My current job? Not so much. And I don’t have as much of a camaraderie with my coworkers. Not that I don’t love the people I work with and my job! I just don’t feel I *fit* with the company yet. I’ll probably spend the evening unpacking boxes and organizing my new house.

6. Tomorrow marks the one-year date since Kyle proposed to me and I said “yes.” I can’t believe it’s been one year since he proposed and that we’ve been married for just over five months. Every day is amazing and I’m so lucky to have such a great husband.

7. We had our first little snowfall on Monday, and another little one Monday night, so I guess winter is officially here. Although today it’s 10°C right now (50°F) with quite a bit of wind. I’ll be fine with it not snowing again until we move!

Are you an office Christmas party goer? Are you ready for winter?

Seven Quick Takes

1. Yesterday I successfully bought and prepared enough food for our company barbecue. I don’t think I’ve ever bought that many groceries all at once EVER. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, so I deem the whole thing a success! Go me!

2. I just finished watched the original Footloose on TV. Ahh, the 1980’s! If only I was born earlier so I could truly appreciate it. Kevin Bacon is amazing. I have serious doubts on the remake though.

3. I’m more than certain that I didn’t blog about this, but in case you missed it on Twitter, my stove broke. More specifically, the glass top broke. By a salt shaker. A $1 glass salt shaker. The glass cracked from the top right all the way down to the bottom right burner. $400 to replace JUST THE GLASS! So – I went shopping and my new range arrives on Tuesday.

4. As a result of the broken stove top, cooking has been a challenge. Who knew I used it so often? No pasta, no ground beef … nothing! If anyone has some recipes that don’t involve cooking anything on the stove – PLEASE – Send them my way!

5. I’m still contemplating doing book reviews on the blog. Nothing too critical or anything like that, but I’ve been going through so many books right now that it just feels like it’s something I should do! Thoughts?

6. Kyle and I are SOOOO close to picking a house. We really don’t know what to do at this point. Wait a couple months and then make an offer or jump on the opportunity now before the house we wants goes. Decisions, decisions!

7. I saw this the other day while I was sitting at a red light. You better believe she had a toddler in the backseat and was wearing (what appeared to be) a pink Juicy Couture track suit. And apparently the back read “Crazy bitch.” As a coworker said, “Her mom must be so proud.”

Keep in mind I live in a small city, so this is a little ridiculous.

So – Recipes? Books? Playboy?! Happy Friday!
