2010

Ah 2010, how you amazed me. You were fast. You were eventful. And now you’re about to slip away into the past. Let’s recap, shall we?

Resolutions: I made a list of “resolutions” and I think I only accomplished about half of them. I also started my “96 in 1096” challenge and I think I’m doing pretty well, even though I always forget to update the page.

Music: According to iTunes, I downloaded 7.9 hours of music (62 songs). My most played song was “Telephone” by Lady Gaga and Beyonce (122 times!)

Love: Well, I’ll state the obvious: It’s been a FABULOUS year for me for love. Kyle and I bought a house, got engaged and are now planning out wedding. It only took eight years, but it’s finally happening and I couldn’t be happier.

Friends: I’ve let some go and I’ve had amazing times with others. I’ve made new bloggy friends too!

Travel: I didn’t really travel anywhere this year, other than to Vancouver with Kyle for a hockey game. It was amazing and fun and can’t wait to travel to new places next year, including to Northern BC for B’s wedding.

Work: I left my job at one publication for another, worked (and am still working) 2 jobs, and got freelancing work. I’ve kept awfully busy just working, so maybe that’s why I haven’t travelled much.

What’s in store for 2011? Weddings, a new beginning and fun. I’ll become a Mrs!

Happy New Year to all my amazing blog followers! May it bring the world to you and more!

Monday Morning Musings

Here’s what inspired me/made me smile over the weekend:

  1. Sunshine. I finally got to spend a day in the sunshine after working during the day for the past few weekends. Yeah, I still had to work in the evening, but my white, pasty body appreciated the Vitamin D from the sun.
  2. Getting closer to closing our deal on the house. Wednesday is THE day we find out FOR SURE that the place is ours. We’re excited!
  3. Cleaning out some of the clutter that we don’t need to keep when we move.
  4. Waking up next to the most amazing boyfriend ever after barely seeing him during the week. (He’s been working the early shirt to beat the heat and is usually in bed by the time I get home from the 2nd job around 10 p.m.)
  5. Bacon fried-rice. My specialty!
  6. Planning a camping trip for the weekend after the long weekend.
  7. Being with amazing people :)

What inspired YOU over the weekend?

Flashback Friday: Graduating

Right now, a lot of the kids I work with at the grocery store are graduating high school. HIGH SCHOOL! This makes me feel old, very old, so I thought I’d take advantage of my writer’s block to present to you a flashback into my graduation ceremony and prom. Yay!

I graduated with a very small bunch of students. I think there was about 24 of us, with some of those kids just getting a “Okay, fine. You can graduate because we’re sick and tired of you” diploma. Not even kidding.

I was chosen out of maybe three people to be the valedictorian. Not because my grades were amazing (Because I nearly failed Math 12) but because I wrote an awesome essay on why I would be a good valedictorian. Go me!

That’s a crappy old photo of me doing my speech. What to know how terrified I was? EXTREMELY! Oh, and want to know why there’s snowflakes on the stage? Because our theme was Winter Wonderland. Hell yes! Ironic considering my hometown is a desert and it was at least 30° C outside. Pretty freaking hot for June. Oh, and that Ram on the wall is the school mascot. The Ashcroft Secondary School Rams. ASS Rams. ASS RAMS. Okay, moving on…

Prom was the day after the grad ceremonies and I spent the day getting my herr all did up. I now hate bobby pins and the taste of hairspray. My dress was big and poofy and matched the theme of our prom.

Look at how young we look! Haha, and my looking at the girls in the background, it seems that blue was a popular dress colour in 2004.

The great thing? I can still fit into my prom dress (if I suck it in and don’t breathe)!

Alright, so that concludes Flashback Friday. This weekend I’m actually heading out to Ashcroft for the annual rodeo. Yee-haw!

What was you high school grad/prom like?
