When All Else Fails …

When you haven’t blogged in a few days and feel guilty about it but don’t have anything relevant to blog about, you resort to some sort of tagging meme you find on someone else’s blog. (In this case, I’m swiping this from eemusings) Also: I’m awesome at creating run-on sentences.

Anyway, here’s the dealy-o for this little beauty of a post:

1. Post these rules.
2. Answer the 11 questions from the person who tagged you.
3. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag.
4. Tag 11 people and link them to your post.
5. Let them know that you tagged them.

1. What does your wallet look like? Is it organized or cluttered?
It’s silver and relatively organized. I enjoy the fact that it has lots of pockets for cards, cash and whatnot. And – it shuts when I have lots of change. (Which is frequently)

2. If you had $10 to spend on a date, where would you go?
Bowling! One of the bowling alley’s in town has $1 bowling Sunday nights. I think we could pull off a game or two including shoe rentals each for $10.

3. If you had $200 to spend on a date, where would you go?
I’d go out to a super fancy restaurant and devour foods from every course (appies, main, dessert) and then maybe to a movie.

4. What was the first blog that got you into blogging?
I first got into blogging when I was in J-School, as an assignment for class, so technically, no one. When I started my personal blog, the first blogs I started reading were Amber’s, Angela’s, Kyla’s, and Rachael’s. Or at least those are the ones who stuck out and I remember from the get-go.

5. What was the last thing you purchased?
A hot chocolate from a coffee shop in downtown Kamloops. OMG SO GOOD. Best $3 spent on a hot chocolate for sure!

6. Do you ever pay full-price for books? Why or why not?
I try not to but I do pay full price for the odd book that I REALLY want. I have a discount card that helps a lot and gives me 10% off every book I buy too. I don’t mind paying full price for a book I know I’m going to enjoy!

7. What is one thing you absolutely refuse to pay for?
Bikini waxes. Did it once, never again.

8. What do you like to do to relax and unwind?
Usually I pick up a book and read, but since I haven’t been able to find a good book lately I’ve just been letting my brain rot while watching TV. Shame on me.

9. If you could resurrect one musician from the dead and watch him/her perform, who would it be?
I’m not entirely sure. We’ll go with Beethoven. How he was able to stil create amazing pieces of music and symphonies AND be deaf is beyond me.

10. What would your ideal retirement look like?
Lots of travelling and relaxing! I don’t have the time or money to do it right now, but it’s definitely something I want to do once I’m older and my kids have grown up and been kicked moved out.

11. Are you going to do your taxes by yourself this year?
Oh hell no. Kyle and I are actually going to go see an accountant for our tax return this year since we now own a rental property.

Feel free to do this one yourself. I certainly didn’t create new questions.
Happy Friday! What are your weekend plans?

Friday Bullets

Ah, Friday. Thank goodness you’re here. Today, you get a list. Because I’m feeling fairly lazy, but not so lazy where I can’t blog.

  • I got fitted for contact lenses yesterday. It turns out, my left eye (the one that’s obviously bad to me) is still bad. No biggy. However, I also learned that my right eye has astigmatism. What? So, now I have a special contact for my right eye, and a not-so-special contact for my left eye. That should be fun if I mix the two up!
  • Also eyeball related: Contacts are going to take a hella-while to get used to. Hella.
  • Kyle and I are going to a play tonight. How cultured are we?! We’re going to see Lorne Cardinal (A.K.A. Officer Davis in “Corner Gas” – if you’re Canadian and don’t know what I’m referring to, we can’t be friends) act in “For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again” because we’re fans of his. I’m looking forward to it!
  • The company that did our taxes last year f-ed up and now we owe the stinkin’ government $200. Bastards. They’re lucky we’re using an actual accountant this year, because there’s no way I’m going back to them after that. Jerks.
  • I’m ridiculously excited for my ultrasound next Thursday. Like, seriously cannot-wait-for-that-day-to-get-here excited. Eeeee!
  • I finally picked up the Book of Negroes from the library and I can’t put it down!
  • There were three police cars and an ambulance at a house down the street from me and I wished I was at work so I could hear on the dispatch scanner why they were there. I’m going to be one of those little old ladies who sits by the scanner for all the going-ons in town.
  • Kyle’s mom and her BF are hosting a game night tomorrow evening and I’m super stoked for it. There’s prizes and everything! I’m making stuffed mushroom caps and I may just hoard them all for myself. I’m pregnant, so I’m allowed.

What are your weekend plans?

Bang, bang. You get Bullets

I’ve been way to crazy busy to write actual posts. This is all you get.

  • I have a freelance project due today and I swear I’ll get it finished, as much as my husband panics about me procrastinating for so long.
  • We move in six days!!
  • It’s finally really started to snow in Kamloops which makes me kind of happy and kind of annoyed. I really wish it would’ve held off until after we move. Oh well. Can’t have everything, right?
  • NINE years ago today Kyle and I started dating. We celebrated by going out for dinner at a super fabulous restaurant. I ate sablefish and Kyle had steak. We also shared crab cakes as a starter plate and he had a dessert sampler with creme brule, baklava and toffee pudding and I had star anise and pear crumble with vanilla bean gelato. OMG. So good!

  • Kyle treated me to a new winter coat! Last year I really wanted a wool coat but never got around to buying one. My past coat has been an enormous yet very warm Carhartt jacket. I really just wanted something more professional looking and less industrial. I’m pretty excited to wear it out today! The only downer is that it’s going to collect dog hair like a fool.
  • I’m finally getting my hair/bangs cut today. I’ll never go longer than three weeks without trimming my bangs ever again. I look like an emo hipster kid.
  • I have started my Christmas shopping. WHO AM I??? Never before have I started shopping in November. Never.
  • Writing this blog post is only helping my procrastination.
  • Some time in December I have an exciting announcement. I think. We’ll see! (cue dramatic music and fade away …)

Happy Friday! What’s on your list today?
