Monday Morning Quicky

So I woke up this morning and realized I didn’t prepare a blog post for today. Oops! Really, I got nothing but a few quick bullets.

– Daphne’s ear has been sure sensitive and sore lately and when I looked at it last night it was all nasty. A trip to the vet today or tomorrow is in store. :( At least I won’t have to pay emergency fees. Those are EEEK-PEN-SIVE.

– Kyle and I are slowly preparing to buy a house of our own! We made a list of everything we’ll need for our house as far as kitchenware and such goes. The list is actually quite short!

– A guy who went through the self-checkouts at the grocery store last night needed help and to get my attention, he called me “Waitress.” Umm, okay.

– I finally made my amazing muffins yesterday! Prepare for a tasty Friday Food post at the end of the week!

– I just realized that there are three computers in my living room, all working, plus my XBox. I’m pretty sure this is a household full of nerds.

– I’m loving the amazing summer weather that’s come around! It’s suppose to be about 26º C today! (That’s about 79º F for you south of the border!) I have the desire to shop for cute summery cloths and flip-flops.

And now, a random picture of my Mom’s cat, because he’s crazy:

Happy Monday! :)

Bullet Wednesday

While I know that I don’t have to write a post when I have nothing, I feel obligated to. So, taking the baton from Amber’s post yesterday, I present to you the random thoughts of a bored person:

– I still haven’t heard from the person in regards to this post. I’m getting worried, but plan on emailing him today. I’m preparing myself for the worst, because it shouldn’t take this long to get back to someone, especially if it went well!

– I signed up for the 20SB Blog Swap! You should too! I’m kinda looking forward to it :)

– Kyle and I were really hoping to get a decent tax return so we could buy a new mattress set, but no such luck. He had to pay a buttload because of EI and I suck so I didn’t get that much. After all is said and done, we’ll be getting about $200. Oy. At least we’ll be able to put it into our house fund. The old mattress will have to do for now.

– To elaborate more on the mattress, when Kyle first moved to Kamloops he had a twin bed. We’re both bed hogs (me more than him!) and after one night, it just wasn’t going to work, so he found a discount place and got a queen-size set for $350. That bed has seen better days by now! I did some browsing at a mattress store and the sales guy made me try the Bowling Ball Mattress. Womp womp! Now I REALLY want a new bed, but we just can’t afford one at the moment.

– I get to see my grandparents today! They were snowbirding all winter and they’ll be in town tomorrow to catch up on Dr. appointments and such, so I’m meeting them for lunch :) I’m so excited!

– I have bought about eight Tim Hortons coffees and have yet to win anything for the Roll up the Rim contest. Boo-urns. That being said, the mocha I just downed is making me feel sick.

– Actually, I’ve been feeling sick a lot lately.

– I’ve yet to contribute to the In It to Gym It site. I’ll get there, I just need to think of something brilliant to post about!

– My birthday is in a month and I’m pretty excited about it! Party my pants off? I think so!!

And now for a random picture of Tanner (my mom’s Lab) and Daphne from 2007, because they’re my favourites:

Happy Hump-Day!

Pet Whisperer

Last week, I had the pleasure of cat-sitting my favourite step-cats for Melissa. She went away to her home island for the week, so I made sure my favourite friendly kitties were fed and taken care of!

Day one included me discovering the door to her basement suite was open. Not cool! Luckily the cats were both inside and in one piece. Whew! After that I made a lovely sign for the door to make sure the door stayed closed. (Her landlord has the place up for sale and realtors have been in and out). The sign, in my opinion is awesome:

Nothing says you mean business like electrical tape, right? Right! Anyway, so the door was always shut and the cats never escaped, leaving me with not having to come up with excuses that the cats were long gone. (“Yeah, they were taken hostage by the ambassadors of the zombie apocalypse … Sorry?”)

Anyway, the cats loved me, more or less. Atticus loved me the first day I arrived and my last day of cat-sitting, which didn’t surprise me but it’s a step up from the last time I cat-sit. Thomas, on the other hand, loves me (or probably most people) and was at my feet every second, rubbing against my legs and making my dogs jealous!

Sir Thomas, the loving, regal one

Atticus, the “I’ll love you when I feel like it” one

I also fed my mom’s animals on Saturday since my step-bro had to work late and the dogs and cat are programmed to eat at the same time every day! (Our parents went to Palm Springs for a week – Lucky!)

They were excited to see me (as always!) but I wasn’t sure if it was actually for me or just because they were hungry. Not that it matters; I love my Tanner, so it was good to see him <3 It’s cute how they all lined up in a row to eat:

Tanner, Squirt and Mickey

Anyway, since I didn’t let any of the animals escape, go hungry or have them accidentally lock themselves in a room to pee on everything (Yeah, it happened once), I say I’m a darn-good pet sitter! I much prefer it to babysitting, that’s for sure!

So, which do you prefer, pets or kids?
