Trying

Sometimes it’s just hard to keep things to yourself, especially when they’re frustrating, stressful, and involve a lot of rules.

Like baby making.

In case you didn’t already guess it from this Tweet over the weekend:

Yeah yeah – Kyle and I are in the process of trying to create a family. We have been for two months actually. And? It’s hard.

Not the actual baby making part – that’s the fun part I suppose – but everything that comes along with it.

Like being off of birth control for the first time in eight years. If you ever want to experience raging, uncontrollable hormones like you’d never believe, stop taking birth control. Let me tell you – my mind and body did somethings I never thought it was capable of. Like bawling my eyes out over not painting the computer room/future child’s room. And breaking out into the worse acne since I hit puberty.

And then there’s the other little things: Prenatal vitamins. Folic acid makes your poops hard (sorry, but it’s the truth), and Omega vitamins makes my skin SO OILY.

Then there’s the bigger things: Trying to tell people that, “No, really, I don’t need a drink. No, I’m sure. Why? Because… no.” Trying to keep the baby making on the D.L. is HARD, especially when it seems like everyone wants to know my business. I suppose this post is letting virtually anyone know my business, but that’s besides the point.

It’s the people who started constantly asking me when kids were coming once Kyle and I got engaged who I’d rather not tell. Why? Because they’re childish and annoying and what’s really going on in my uterus is none of their business. And then they give unsolicited advice, which is only really unsolicited because none of them have had children or have gone through the “trying” process. No, it won’t “just happen” after a couple months of trying. No, you don’t really know how stressful getting your period actually is. For the first time in years, I’m disappointed that I have it.

And I’m not trying to belittle those who have been trying for ages to have a baby – don’t get me wrong. Two months of trying is nothing compared to some people who’ve been trying for years. But I feel I understand in a way. I’m more than certain the length of time I was on the pill has something to do with it taking a while to get pregnant. I’m just hoping my body hasn’t f-ed me over in the process.

I guess this is just another reason why I love the blogging world, because like I said Monday, there’s always someone who understands.

I love you Blog World!

Home Reno’s: And. We’re. DONE!

After three weeks of the upstairs of our townhouse being an absolute war zone, our man cave/computer room/future baby room (no, we’re not expecting, FYI rumour starters!) is DONE!

Two weeks ago we got the flooring put in. (Luxurious dark bamboo hardwood laminate!) Last week we got the door and trim painted and put up (or down I guess for the baseboards). It has been such hard work – and not even for me – for Kyle. I have done pretty much nothing in that room, not that I’m complaining. Kyle has been awesome making that room look fabulous. I’m not even going to take any credit for it, except for the caulking around the baseboards – that was alllll me! I’m a master caulker. (Insert dirty joke here)

Anyway – Pictures pictures!

(View the “Before” and “After Paint” photos here)

So, after the caulking had dried we went out and bought a new TV stand and a new desk for Kyle and voila – the room is done and Kyle is happy to have his “Man Cave” back in running order.

Now we just need to have new windows installed and hang new curtains. I swear reno’s never end. Next up is the spare bedroom when our bank account replenishes itself a little bit.

Do reno’s every really end? Really?

War Zone Renovations

Wednesday night, Kyle and I started talking about doing a little bit of renovations to our place. We don’t really plan on selling any time in the near future, but why not make it more enjoyable for ourselves? (FYI: There are four units in our complex for sale and not one of them seems to have gained anyone’s interest!)

Anyway, what started as a chit-chat turned into reality when we went to Home Depot to “browse” and came out with paint swatches and a pretty good idea of what kind of new flooring we wanted!

So, now my house looks a little bit like a war zone with all of the stuff in our computer rooms tossed into the spare bedroom, the carpet ripped up, the door jam removed and the walls prepped for painting! We’re planning on eventually turning the computer room into the baby’s room whenever that life-altering event occurs ;)

Oh, and Kyle also Hung a floating shelf in the living room for me, so now my plant that sat on our coffee table isn’t blocking our view, and I have a place to put our favourite wedding photo. Yay! I have such a handy husband!

I plan on documenting the changes as we go along, so for now I’ll show you the “Before” photos. For the record, they were taken at about 7:30 a.m. with partial sun shining through the window, with no editing. And the colour before was a dull, gross white.

Also, if there’s any typo’s in this post, blame the fact that I’m blogging from my phone. Hurray for the WordPress for Android app! (I’m going to reread this at home for errors and insert the photos.)

So, have you done any reno’s lately? If you haven’t done any, do you have plans/desires to?
