House Hunting, Round 2

Just over a year ago, Kyle and I bought our townhouse. Basically, we just needed somewhere to live, somewhere to call our own. We never truly intended to stay here for more than five years, and after learning a lot about living in a townhouse complex we’ve decided it’s time for a change.

Now, with better paying jobs and a better handle on our finances, Kyle and I are moving up! For the past few weeks we’ve been going through houses with our Realtor, talking with our mortgage broker, and we’ve now narrowed it down to two houses. Two!

Kyle likes one house more, and I like the other, but they’re both in our top two. We’re taking my mom to look at both of them again tomorrow to see which one she likes better (she doesn’t know who likes which one!)

So, House #1 has A/C and four bedrooms. However, it has a small backyard and most of the property goes up a bank that won’t ever be able to be developed. It has a small kitchen but it’s closer to the school.

House #2 doesn’t have A/C, has three bedrooms, and a really open layout. It also has a (much) bigger backyard. However, there’s only two bedrooms upstairs and the kitchen, living room, and dining room all share the same space. But, the kitchen is AMAZING with a giant island.

Neither house comes with (or at least lists) the washer and dryer. Both houses are within the same distance from the highway and are priced the same.

Now, decisions, decisions – like whether or not we want to sell our townhouse and port the mortgage, or rent out the townhouse until our term is up (which would be in a couple of years) and then sell.

The running joke between Kyle and I is that I have White Girl Problems. I really don’t know which house we’ll pick. I love them both – can I have two?

Ten on Tuesday

You should probably to link up over at Chelsea’s blog today for ToT, because it’s ToT #100 today! Show her the love for hosting such a fabulous meme!

1. How do you take your coffee?
With two tablespoons (yes, tablespoons!) or sugar and a good dose of Vanilla Toffee Caramel cream by International Delight.

2. Do you prefer soft or crispy chocolate chip cookies?
Crispy! And then I dunk them in milk.

3. Do you wear a belt everyday?
No. Most of my work pants don’t requre/have loops for belts.

4. What is your favorite colour combination?
Black and any colour. I’m kinda boring that way.

5. Do you like sour candy?
I do! Kyle hates it though. And once when I had a Japanese exchange student in high school we let her try salt & vinegar potato chips and I think she almost died. It was a little funny.

6. How often do you do laundry?
Usually we do two or three loads a week, depending on how Kyle’s work schedule does.

7. Did you ever wear braces?
Ugh, yes. And, because I took my retainer while I slept, my top teeth are all crooked again. Money well wasted. Sorry Dad!

8. Are you good at Roman Numerals?
I think I know them up to maybe 30? I can’t say I use them on a regular basis, other than trying to tell time.

9. What is your favourite form of social media?
Probably Facebook. Easiest way to communicate with people besides actually texting or calling them.

10. How do you feel about chin dimples?
I find them interesting and they immediately make me think of John Travolta. He once said in an interview that he told someone (a child, I think) that he hides stuff in it. Ha!

Wine and Love v2

A LOT has happened in the last little bit. Right now as I start to type out my Wines and Loves of the there’s a lot on my mind. Let’s see if I can pull off a few bullets in each category without getting too rambly.

Wines:

  • Tanner was put to sleep just after 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. It hurts. I don’t think I need/want to say anymore.
  • We have our end of the season slo-pitch tournament this weekend and I’m a little bummed that we’re done for the year.
  • Curtains are expensive people. I dropped just over $200 on curtains and rods for two windows. Lordy.
  • Actually, windows and everything to do with them are expensive.
Loves:

  • In the last game of the season (before the tournament, obviously) our slo-pitch team won our first game. Go us!
  • I can’t thank everyone enough for all the thoughts and interwebby hugs you’ve sent to me regarding Tanner. Seriously. I love you guys.
  • My computer at work FINALLY works properly. I’m ballin’ now with a Snow Leopard OS for Mac. Yeah, yeah, it’s not Lion, but the newspaper biz. Not exactly thriving, so I’ll take what I can get.
  • Season premiers. I’m so ready for Private Practice tonight. I’m glad to have all my fall/winter favourites back!
  • The Lion King is coming out onto DVD/Blu-Ray on Tuesday next week. Consider it in my grubby little hands.
  • Updated to add: One of my coworkers announced that she’s expecting in April! I’m pretty excited for her actually. I’ve decided I’m going to live vicariously through other pregnant people until it happens for me. (lol – too creepy?)
