A tour, a tour!

I finally have for your creepin’ convenience, photos of our new house! I went with a slideshow instead of a video tour, only because it’s easier in a way. That, and I hate listening to the sound of my voice.

So, of you’re reading this in a reader, you may want to click on through to my actual blog page to view the pictures, because I’m pretty sure the slideshow won’t show up in readers.

Enjoy!

I shall explain that I didn’t take pictures of bathrooms because really, unless it’s AMAZING, a bathroom is a bathroom. I have three FULL bathrooms, so that means three toilets, three sinks, and three full bath tubs to clean. Lucky me!

And what on Earth are we going to do with that awful green, black and blue room? The black “magnetic” stripe is textured almost like a chalkboard and is noticeably raised from the rest of the wall. If we can’t get rid of it completely, we’re going to paint it a different colour (which will probably take 3 or 4 coats of paint!) and then paint the rest of the walls a solid colour. Not too sure what colour yet, but I’ll figure it out soon enough!

The bedrooms also all have gorgeous crown molding in them which makes them feel amazing. I just love lying in bed and staring at it!!

Hope you enjoyed the tour! We’re finally settled right in :)

Any colour combo suggestions for that awful striped room?

Ten on Tuesday

1. What are 3 things that are on your Christmas wishlist?
That is a very good question. There isn’t much on my wishlist, really. At least nothing that’s reasonably affordable. Three things that I would loooove to have are: bedroom furniture, the Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.4/G lens, and a new car. Ridiculous, no? But, I’ll also settle for bookstore gift cards, pajamas, and a flatting iron.

2. What’s your favourite Christmas song?
“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” or anything Christmassy that Michael Buble sings!

3. Do you have a favorite band or singer that sings it especially awesome?
I just heard Zooey Deschanel singing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” and looooved it. I may have to track it down on iTunes, actually.

4. Have you heard about the website goodreads?
I have, and I’m a member, but I’m not exactly active on it. I don’t really know how it works, to be honest.

5. What are 3 books you want to read?
I really have no idea what I want to read next! I’ll happily take suggestions though. I haven’t been to the bookstore in ages!

6. Do you hunt deer?
Yes and no. I’ve gone hunting for deer but I haven’t actually shot a deer (we got skunked both times we went). So, yes, I’ve hunted for deer but I haven’t been successful.

7. Have you started Christmas shopping? Are you completely finished?
Yes I have and no I am not! We still have a couple more people to buy for, which I hope to get done this week!

8. Did you shop on Black Friday? What was the best deal you got?
We don’t have Black Friday in Canada! Our big “sale” day is Boxing Day, (the day after Christmas) and I rarely ever go out. It’s just too crazy for me! We have done online Boxing Day shopping though. At least I can sit at home and browse websites and buy if I like. (Although the checkouts are always slow because even the online stores are busy!)

9. What’s one holiday tradition your family has?
We don’t have any family traditions, although Kyle and I want to start watching Christmas movies all night and then going to Walmart at 2 a.m. (It’s open 24hrs starting Dec.1!) The trick is to find the Christmas movies we want to watch. We may just get a Netflix subscription.

10. How many blogs do you read? Do you subscribe/unsubscribe often or do you purge every once in a while?
I’m too lazy to count how many blogs I’m following, but every once in a while I’ll purge and clean out some of the blogs that haven’t updated in a while. I haven’t added any new ones to my reader recently though!

Any holiday movie suggestions for me? (I did Tweet this on Sunday)
Let’s get interesting: What’s your view on hunting?

New house photos tomorrow!

Seven Quick Takes

1. How is it already December?? It seems like this year has flown by!! It certainly doesn’t help that I’ve kept myself extremely busy though, with wedding planning, moving and whatnot! I’m pretty sure this year is going to be over before I know it, which is sad. It’s true – the older you get, the faster time goes by!

2. Is it wrong to say that Kyle and I miss our townhouse a little bit? Really, a lot happened in it during the short 14 months we were living there! The proposal, roommates, new jobs, the wedding … As much as we hated being attached to our neighbours and how little space we had, we miss that little bugger! I just hope our tenant keeps the townhouse in order.

3. Kyle and I are thinking about getting our Christmas tree this weekend, but I’m concerned about it drying out and needles falling all over the place before Christmas even gets here. What do you think? Should we wait another week or just go for it? All my decorations are sitting in the living room, and I think it would help make our new house feel more like home!

4. Life in general is going SO awesome right now, I wish I could share all the wonderful little details! I’ve been busy doing freelance work for a local property management company, on top of my regular freelance work, AND I finally got to cover as a reporter at work on Wednesday, which led to me getting a byline in the paper yesterday. It was pretty overwhelming and exciting! This week has been pretty amazing.

5. One of my bestest friends is FINALLY coming home in about two weeks! I’ve missed her dearly and I’m looking forward to finally getting some “girl time.” I love Kyle to death but sometimes I just need girl talk over coffee dates!

6. I’m going to take home tour pictures this weekend! Well, I may do a video, but I haven’t decided. Either way, sometime next week you’ll get a tour of our new place! We probably won’t have furniture yet, but oh well. You’ll get the idea!

7. Kyle and I are going to have our very first house guests stay with us this weekend. Friends of ours from Princeton (BC, not the university town in the US!) are coming to stay Saturday night. They had just moved into their first house on October and we went and visited their first weekend there, so they’re coming to see our place. I’m looking forward to showing off our new place!

I just realized the majority of this post was about my house. Oh well.

Questions:
When do you put up your Christmas tree?
Did this year go by fast for you too?
Should I do a house tour in photos or video? Most votes win!
