Listy Friday

– On Tuesday I tweeted this:

traffic tweet

A little vague, am I right? Right. So, let me explain the situation in more than 140 characters. Basically, I was sitting in traffic at a red light. At the intersection I was at, there’s two left-hand turn lanes and two straight-through lanes (the left lanes get their own advanced signal to turn). The left turn light turned green, but since my light to go straight was still red, I waited. (Obviously) The woman behind me said she just glanced up, saw green, assumed it was for our lane, and BLAM – hit me. It scared the crap out of me, terrified Isla, but we’re just fine. I got the lady’s information, and went on my way home. My car seems to be okay, but I filed a claim with my insurance company and am having the bumper removed at a shop next week. It’s little tweeked and should be an easy fix, but lets just hope there’s no extra damage!

– My grandpa is finally back from his venture down south. Yay! It’s great to have him back in the country, and I’m looking forward to Isla getting to know her great-grandpa better.

– Now that I’ve finished sulking about not going back to work in June, I’m looking forward to spending more time with Kyle and raising Isla. I’m also looking into the possibility of retraining for a different career path. The possibilities are endless, really, so it’s just a matter of figuring out what I want to do.

– I pre-ordered  a new cellphone, the Samsung Galaxy S4. This is, by far, the nerdiest thing I’ve ever done. I’m super stoaked for a new phone. Everyday I want to throw mine into the toilet, so I can’t wait to get my hands on my new phone! I’m picking it up next Saturday before I head to Vancouver, so hopefully I can figure it out quickly while I’m down there. Or at least know how to make a call. I’m sure my mom will be thrilled by my distraction!

– I went to see my chiropractor yesterday and it was the best. thing. ever. She cracked all of the things, including my ribs. RIBS. I feel like I’m about eleventy inches taller. For real.

That’s it for today. I’ll leave you with an adorable photo of Isla, all decked out in the outfit she got for Easter:

Sh!t My Husband Says

More hilarity, brought to you by my husband:

After seeing a for sale ad for a used copy of 50 Shades of Grey:
“Eeew! Used erotica!”

After reading him this tweet of mine:

Me: I mean, a baby comes ripping out of you!
Him: Yes! AT 90 MILES AN HOUR, WEARING GOGGLES AND A SKI MASK! GOING, “SWOOSH!”
(I will add that he was awake for way too many hours after working nightshift the night before)

After I made fun of him for some reason I cannot remember:
“I’m a delicate little butterfly with tissue paper wings!!”

After seeing a commercial for CougarLife.com (YES, that’s a real dating website):
Me: “What? 34 makes you a cougar??? Are you f-ing serious?”
Him: “You’re only 7 years away from being a coug’ dear!” *goes for a fist-bump*

While playing Words With Friends against a friend:
Him (to the friend): I could play the word “tampon” against you but I don’t think it’s a word. Is it a word or a brand?
Friend: I think it’s a word.
Him: Yeah, right; Tampex is the brand. Tampon is the word.
Meanwhile, I’m killing myself laughing.

Blessing in Disguise?

As it turns out, I won’t be going back to work in June. It’s a complicated story, and I don’t really want to get into the details, but I’m trying to take the news as a blessing in disguise. When one door closes, another one opens, right? Right!

I’m not sure what my plans are yet, but for now I’m just going to focus spending time with my husband and raising our daughter. Hopefully a little freelance writing here and there will keep my creative juices flowing.

To those I worked with who may see this post – It’s been a slice and I’m really going to miss seeing your faces on a regular basis! I wish you all the best of luck and keep doing the amazing jobs you’re doing.
