Weekend Update

Happy Monday, everyone! Here’s what we got up to this weekend:

Friday
After a LOT of swearing and cursing at the lack of space in our little apartment-sized freezer, Kyle and I adulted HARD and bought ourselves a ginormous 22cu.ft deep freeze! It arrives on Friday and I’m pretty stoked on it.

We also did a little bit of Christmas shopping done while we were at the mall, and I think it’s safe to say that I’m officially DONE my shopping! Thank jeebus, because it’s starting to get a little crazy in the stores.

Saturday
We had a pretty lazy morning up until Isla had dance class at noon. I dropped her off and did our grocery shopping for the week, and after I picked her up and went home, my mom came over to help me bake cookies. Okay, it was more like her watching the girls while I baked, but still! Kyle did some shopping with his mom, and then when he got home he helped me finish off the cookies and made dinner.

Sunday
We thought about going out and picking up a couple of things at Canadian Tire, but changed our minds. I ended up bringing up the Christmas decorations and decorated the house a little bit; we’re getting our tree next weekend, so no pictures until then!

In the afternoon Isla had her winter dance recital. It was a bit packed but she had 10 family members in the audience cheering her on! Norah had a bit of a meltdown (I think it was stimulation overload), so after she wouldn’t calm down for my mom, Kyle scooped her up and stood with her by the door in case she didn’t settle and he needed to make an escape. Luckily she calmed down for him right away and he was able to watch the show!

It was hilarious and the cutest thing ever! I think she was focused on the audience a lot because she would get “stuck” doing the same moves, but she’d catch up once she saw her teachers instructing them. Of course, I got it on video:

Enjoy! (And pardon the weird cuts into the routines. My camera only lets me do 5 minute videos at a time so I tried to film each song separately and stitch it together the best I could.)

How was your weekend?? Are your Christmas decorations up yet? Are you finished your shopping?

Weekend Update

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope the time change isn’t messing with you too badly and you’ve adjusted OK! Here’s what we got up to this weekend:

Friday
Daphne had a vet appointment in the afternoon for her regular senior dog checkup. She’s been having some bladder issues, so the vet ran a few tests to see what was up, including blood work to check on her thyroid and see if her meds for that needed to be adjusted at all. Her thyroid was just fine, but she apparently has a bit of a UTI, so she was prescribed antibiotics. Other than that, she has a clean bill of health! Not bad for this old gal!

She was SO excited to be going on a car ride until I turned onto the street that the vet clinic is on.

Saturday
It was a busy one with it being Halloween and all! Isla got to dress up for dance class, and then after that we went home so she could eat lunch and I could nurse Norah, before we all headed down to the mall for some trick or treating! Isla’s costume was a huge hit, she got a whole bunch of candy, and she had an awesome time!

The Princess Zombie and Caterpillar!

After the mall we went home to have some supper before the trick or treaters started arriving at our door. They didn’t really show up until around 6pm, but Isla had a lot of fun answering the door! We hadn’t planned on taking her door to door as we thought she was a little too young still, but our neighbour (who is beyond awesome) showed up with his daughter (who’s about 9 years old), and asked Isla if she wanted to go to a few houses with them. Isla practically ran out the door without her shoes on, so she ended up going for about 20 minutes. Overall, it was a fun Halloween and we’re already plotting our costumes for next year!

Sunday
Daylight Savings Time threw Kyle and I for a loop; we both woke up at 6 a.m., but the girls slept like nothing had changed! I headed out with Norah and my mom to a huge craft fair, while Isla and Kyle hung out at home and did some yard work. I did a bit of Christmas shopping, and bought Norah a cute little owl toque to match Isla’s for the winter.

After the fair, it was time to head home and get back into the pre-workweek routine. It was a crazy busy weekend, but great memories were made!

How was your Halloween??

Weekend Update

Friday
Norah had a rough night and I made the silly, rookie mistake of staying up too late watching bad-yet-entertaining movies (Pitch Perfect 2 and Magic Mike XXL), and ALL of the coffee was definitely needed. Norah had her 4-month immunizations that morning, so I dropped Isla off at Kyle’s grandparents to make the trip easier.

Norah did awesome and we finished at the health unit way sooner than I had thought, so I stopped at Starbucks and treated myself to a salted caramel mocha and a chocolate croissant before picking Isla back up for lunch!

My mom picked Isla up later in the afternoon and had her over for dinner. Norah and I caught up on some bad TV before her big sister returned. Kyle also came home from his hunting trip later that evening, so it was nice to have him back!

Saturday
Isla had dance class at noon, so the morning was spent puttering around the house. I made a quick stop at Walmart for a few things while Isla was in class, and then when she was done we headed down to my mom’s for lunch before heading out to the pumpkin patch to get our Halloween pumpkins! Isla had a blast going through the patch and probably would’ve brought every pumpkin home if we had the room in the car.

Sunday
Sunday is always a pretty routine day for us since Kyle was heading back to work the next day. I got my weekly meal plan done and we headed out to the store to get the grocery shopping done. We lazed around for most of the afternoon and after dinner we went down to Kyle’s grandparent’s for dessert as they’re leaving on Tuesday for their annual snowbirding trip. We won’t see them again until April! After that it was bedtime for the girls and Kyle and I relaxed with some Netflix before heading to bed ourselves.

How was your weekend? What was the last bad (but oh, so good) movie you watched?
