The high of my week was winning a First Birthday Cake Smash photoshoot for Norah in a local online auction! I feel bad for her “Second Child Syndrome,” and Isla never had a first birthday photo session, so this will be a fun way to remember her first birthday come June next year!

Another high of the week was Kyle ordering my Christmas present for me! We’re bad at surprising one another, but I can’t wait for it to arrive!

Also, moments like this for Norah, because they rarely happen:

She usually thinks sleep is for the weak, so to have her randomly fall asleep when I thought she’d just get angry for having to hangout in her sister’s bean bag chair was a wonderful (and adorable!) surprise.

The low of my week was that I did way too much yelling at Isla while I was trying to take our Christmas photos. In retrospect, I probably should have waited for my mom to have a day off so she could help me, but I didn’t and taking those photos really pushed the limit for me. I feel guilty for yelling and I sometimes forget that Isla’s only 3.

An internet find I loved was not necessarily a find, but learning that one of my favourite bloggers is expecting and is due in May. She SO deserves this after all she’s been through this year, so I couldn’t be more excited for her!

The best money I spent was on that photoshoot for Norah. We managed to snag it for about 45% off the valued price. Woo!

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was going on a nice, long (or at least long for Isla) walk with both the girls and my mom on Wednesday. We all got some very needed fresh air and Isla had fun while her sister fell asleep in the stroller.

The song that has been stuck in my head is “Levels” by Nick Jonas. I feel like a dweeb for having a Jonas brother’s song stuck in my head, but oooooh well. I’m certain I’ll be that mom when Isla is older and embarrass her with my awesome taste in music ;)

My meals of the week were:

  • Monday: Pork tenderloin with roasted broccoli
  • Tuesday: Tacos
  • Wednesday: Swiss steak
  • Thursday: BBQ’d chicken

My plans for the weekend are to get the Christmas lights up on Sunday. My mom is having Isla over for a sleepover Saturday night and when she brings her back on Sunday, she’s going to stick around and watch both kiddos so Kyle and I can get the lights up.

What are your plans this weekend? Are you embarrassed (but not really) by some of your music choices?

The high of my week was  getting our Halloween pumpkins carved! Kyle helped gut them (he wanted the seeds for roasting) and I carved them up between Norah’s busy schedule of being a baby. (See: Eating, crying, pretending to nap.)

Also, it’s Daphne’s 11th birthday today!! I can’t believe she’s 11 – she’s been through a LOT but she’s a stubborn ol’ broad! So, Happy Birthday, Dapheroo!

The low of my week was was  having a bit of a short temper and getting snippy for no good reason. I feel awful and I don’t know what’s got into me lately. I’ll blame hormones, because UGH.

An internet find I loved was this funny cartoon by The Oatmeal, on Having a baby vs. Having a cat. I don’t have a cat, but I suspect it’s pretty dead on since their view on having a baby was pretty on point.

The best money I spent was on some new clothes for Isla. Her pants were looking like claim diggers and her shirts were showing off a little too much of her midsection, so off to the store we went! Really, I shopped and she just sat at the little activity centre and watched Finding Nemo. Whatever works!

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was listening to Isla “sing” to Norah. Her songs make no sense at all but it’s adorable to see how much she loves her little sister.

The song that has been stuck in my head is “Lean On” by Major Lazer. I think it’s in a cellphone commercial? Either way, it’s there, in my head.

My meals of the week were:

Monday: Meatloaf
Tuesday: Crock Pot ribs with homemade BBQ sauce
Wednesday: Beef dip. Isla ate just the bun (which she dipped in the au jus) and the French fries. Go figure.

Thursday: Chinese take-out! (Chicken Chow Mein, sweet & sour boneless pork, deep friend prawns, and won ton soup, FTW)
Tonight: Homemade margarita pizza. I’m going to make the dough in the bread maker, so it’s going to be even easier.

My plans for the weekend are taking Daphne to the vet for her annual check-up this afternoon. Saturaday, of course, is Halloween! Isla has dance and she gets to wear her costume to class, then we’re coming home to eat lunch before heading to the mall for trick or treating! After that we’ll be answering the door at home; Isla’s not quite ready to go door-to-door year, so she’ll be in charge of giving out the candy. Then on Sunday I’m hitting up a huge craft fair with my mom and Norah with hopes to get a little Christmas shopping done!

What are your plans for the weekend? Are you dressing up for Halloween?

11201191_10156100765845297_5456572534355640609_nThe high of my week was the gorgeous fall weather we’re having! While it’s fairly chilly first thing in the morning, the days have been warming up and the temperature has been just perfect. I’m most definitely a fall kind of person!

I was also able to go out and watch my slo-pitch team play their last game of the season on Sunday, which also happened to be the longest stretch of time I’ve left Norah. Her and Isla hung out with my mom while I was at the field, and it was nice to have that little bit of freedom for a few hours.

The low of my week was the reason why I went to the ball game. One of my teammates, whose husband also plays on the team, passed away suddenly last week. It’s so sad as she’s not only leaving behind her husband, but also an adorable little girl who turned one three days after her passing. :( The whole team rallied together and played in her honour, and while they lost both games, she would’ve been proud.

Another low is that Isla caught a cold and Norah has been super cranky. I don’t know if Norah is teething or not, but she’s been super clingy and inconsolable lately. No fun for me :(

An internet find I loved was the latest edition of Mean Tweets. Have you seen them before? You should definitely YouTube them! I don’t watch a lot of late night talk shows but when I do, it’s always when Jimmy Kimmel has a new edition of Mean Tweets.

The best money I spent was $1 on a Crush Cream Soda at the Dollar Store. It was delicious and satisfied that sweet tooth of mine like you wouldn’t believe. (Also, how pathetic does that make me sound??)

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was this face:

12079873_10156124124625297_2885943497618716551_o

I just want to smoosh it!

The song that has been stuck in my head is “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles. I’m not even a Beatles fan per-say, but I was watching the sun rise the other day and it’s been on repeat every since.

My favourite meal of the week was the freezer meal I decided to pull out for dinner on Thursday. Norah had a tough night and it continued on into the day, and I was just so done with functioning.

My plans for the weekend are being a hunting widow on Friday (Kyle’s friend is in town to hunt with him), dance class for Isla on Saturday, and Kelowna with my mom and the girls on Sunday. I need want new clothes in a baaaad way!

What are your plans for the weekend?
