The high of my week was getting our Halloween pumpkins carved! Kyle helped gut them (he wanted the seeds for roasting) and I carved them up between Norah’s busy schedule of being a baby. (See: Eating, crying, pretending to nap.)
Also, it’s Daphne’s 11th birthday today!! I can’t believe she’s 11 – she’s been through a LOT but she’s a stubborn ol’ broad! So, Happy Birthday, Dapheroo!
The low of my week was was having a bit of a short temper and getting snippy for no good reason. I feel awful and I don’t know what’s got into me lately. I’ll blame hormones, because UGH.
An internet find I loved was this funny cartoon by The Oatmeal, on Having a baby vs. Having a cat. I don’t have a cat, but I suspect it’s pretty dead on since their view on having a baby was pretty on point.
The best money I spent was on some new clothes for Isla. Her pants were looking like claim diggers and her shirts were showing off a little too much of her midsection, so off to the store we went! Really, I shopped and she just sat at the little activity centre and watched Finding Nemo. Whatever works!
My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was listening to Isla “sing” to Norah. Her songs make no sense at all but it’s adorable to see how much she loves her little sister.
The song that has been stuck in my head is “Lean On” by Major Lazer. I think it’s in a cellphone commercial? Either way, it’s there, in my head.
My meals of the week were:
Monday: Meatloaf
Tuesday: Crock Pot ribs with homemade BBQ sauce
Wednesday: Beef dip. Isla ate just the bun (which she dipped in the au jus) and the French fries. Go figure.
Thursday: Chinese take-out! (Chicken Chow Mein, sweet & sour boneless pork, deep friend prawns, and won ton soup, FTW)
Tonight: Homemade margarita pizza. I’m going to make the dough in the bread maker, so it’s going to be even easier.
My plans for the weekend are taking Daphne to the vet for her annual check-up this afternoon. Saturaday, of course, is Halloween! Isla has dance and she gets to wear her costume to class, then we’re coming home to eat lunch before heading to the mall for trick or treating! After that we’ll be answering the door at home; Isla’s not quite ready to go door-to-door year, so she’ll be in charge of giving out the candy. Then on Sunday I’m hitting up a huge craft fair with my mom and Norah with hopes to get a little Christmas shopping done!
What are your plans for the weekend? Are you dressing up for Halloween?
