Ten on Tuesday

1. Ikea: Over-hyped and confusing or genius furniture company?
A little from Column A, a little from Column B. The nearest Ikea to me is about 3.5 hours away, so I haven’t been in a while, but some of their stuff is gorgeous! I get headaches just thinking about putting it together though. Ouch.

2. Your favorite interior-decorator-type person wants to makeover one room in your house. Which room do you choose and why?
Either my kitchen or my bedroom. My kitchen because we’d really like to update our counter tops and cupboards, and my bedroom because we have NO furniture in it expect a TV stand that’s too big for the location that it’s in and an old dresser. Seriously. Our nightstands are big cardboard boxes turned on their sides, and we don’t even have a bed frame.

3. Describe the furniture in your childhood bedroom. Did you like it? Where is that furniture now?
I remember having a Beauty and the Beast comforter, yellow shelves and yellow window coverings. It was a decent size, and I do remember liking it! I believe we got rid of most the furniture due to wear and tear, but I think the comforter is still kicking around – but it’s covered with a duvet cover. If it’s anywhere, it’s at my mom’s!

4. When you’re done with furniture, what do you do with it? Donate it to Goodwill OR Sell it on Craigslist OR Put it by the curb and hope the trash guys take it?
Usually we donate it to Goodwill if it’s in reasonable condition. If it’s completely trashed we’ll take it to the dump.

5. My Pinterest furniture style could best be described as A) funky/eclectic, B) antique/shabby chic, C) modern/minimalist, D), so random and varied it’s undefinable.
I’d have to go with either C or D. I just see pretty things and Pin them, regardless of its style.

6. Name the most important furniture/toy in a toddler’s playroom. And why?
I’d say their dresser. You want something that’s going to last them FOREVER. Like, until they move our and go to college, forever. Or at least that’s what my goal is!

7. Your parents (or grandparents or other relative) are giving away all their furniture. Which piece do you really want?
Probably my mom’s iron/wood coffee table. That thing is STURDY! I love a good coffee table that you can sit on and not worry about breaking. Unfortunately, you can’t get them nowadays without paying an arm and a leg for it!

8. Your biggest furniture buying or home decorating regret?
I don’t think I have any furniture or decorating regrets! I have fabulous taste ;)

9. $1000 gift card! Do you want it to A) Ethan Allen, B) Ikea,  C) Pottery Barn Kids?
Pottery Barn Kids, because I have baby brain and their stuff is gorgeous!

10. Bunk beds, loft beds, trundle beds, or canopy beds?
Bunk beds, because I have no idea what trundle and loft beds are!

Ten on Tuesday

1. Should we keep doing Ten on Tuesday?
I vote yes! For me, it’s the perfect answer to blogging funks. (Or for me, I’m just lazy some days.)

2. How do you pick out your sunglasses?
There’s two things I look for: Hoe much sun the block out of my eyes and how they look on my face. I don’t “do” bug buggy glasses, and they look weird on my face. I sport Oakley’s.

3. Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?
Not usually. I didn’t even wear green this year. It’s not a big deal where I live, and really, I just see it as an excuse for college kids to get obliterated at the bar.

4. Name 5 movies that you will never get sick of.
The Devil Wears Prada, Wedding Crashers, The Shawshank Redemption, The Town, The Lion King.

5. Name 1 book that you will never get sick of.
Marley and Me, although I don’t think I could ever read it again because it just makes me bawl.

6. Do you know any sign language?
Other than waving hello and flippin’ the ol’ bird, nope.

7. What is your favorite kind of Girl Scout cookie?
I have no idea what they’re actually called, but the “original” ones – the chocolate or vanilla with the chocolate or vanilla creme. They never have those when they come to my door – just the crumby mint ones! BOO! (Of course, I still buy a box because the kids are so darn cute!)

8. Are you handy? (Can you fix or build anything?)
I wouldn’t say anything, but I can put stuff together and fix stuff if I have to. Most of the time I leave it to Kyle though, or at least wait until he’s home to help me. I’m a mess with a power drill!

9. In what form do you prefer your potatoes? (Baked, mashed, au gratin, hashbrowns, twice baked, etc.)
Baked or twice baked potatoes are my favourite!

10. Do you believe the saying “actions speak louder than words”?
I really do. I hate people who talk big talk but then just sit around and do nothing. It’s frustrating!!

Ten on Tuesday

This week’s ToT questions are all about baseball, and while I don’t actually watch baseball, I do (well, did, before pregnancy) play slo-pitch, which is basically a sissier version of baseball. I’ll base my answers off of that knowledge!

1. What is the most exciting thing to see on a baseball field?
Probably insane catches in the outfield. There’s nothing more amazing than watching a fielder catch a fly ball and wondering “How on earth did he catch that?!”

2. What snacks do you usually get at a game?
I generally don’t get snacks. Usually I’ll buy sunflower seeds for when I’m playing. Nothing like filling the dugout with sunflower shells!

3. Do you yell at the umps? Other players?
No, I’m usually pretty reserved. Hockey games, however, are a different story, lol.

4. If you could be commissioner for a day, what would you change about MLB?
I’ll say nothing since I know nothing about the league.

5. Which of the following have you seen in person at a baseball game:
a. a rainout? Nope! We play in all weather.
b. a no-hitter? Not in my beer-league, we’re not that good, lol.
c. a grand slam? A couple, but again – beer league!
d. your face on the JumboTron? Ha – no way Kamloops can afford one of those.
e. a squeeze play? I don’t even know what that is …
f. a fight? Almost – We once got a little scrappy with our opponent because they wanted to keep playing even though a) They were losing to us pretty badly, and b) It was too dark to play. We prevailed. It was WAY too dangerous to be playing ball!

6. What do you say to people who claim that baseball is boring?
You’re probably right, but it’s way more fun to play!

7. What do you think of the recent trend of singing “God Bless America” during the 7th inning stretch?
I’ve never heard of that, but I think that’s bizarre. Why? Would they sing it if they were playing in Toronto? (I’m thinking about the Blue Jays but can’t remember which league they actually belong to)

8. Old school “knickers” or full length pants?
Pants, all the way. Old school looks hilarious though.

9. What do you do about the obnoxious drunk guys/girls sitting around you?
Ignore them, for the most part. In beer league, they’re everywhere!

10. For a game you’re watching in person, what’s your limit on extra innings? How many before you just bail?
I think I’ve only played one game where we had to go to an extra inning, and I’ve never actually watched a game with one. I will note that I watched a hockey game with 4 overtime periods, and it was getting a little ridiculous after they went into the 3rd OT. Luckily, my team won in the end!
