Ten on Tuesday

1. What was/is your favorite live action (meaning not animated) kids movie?

I want to say that it was Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I think I watched it because it was 1/2 cartoon, 1/2 live action. I remember my mom covering my eyes at the end when the bad guy died. When I watched it a second time on my own, I didn’t think it was that bad.

2. What is a bad habit you have? Are you working on breaking it?

Laziness. I try to break it, but it’s hard. I’ve kind of grown up with being lazy. Did you know that the first time I ever mowed a lawn was last year? Yeah. I’m laaaaazy.

3. Describe your father in 3 words.

Chinese, random, amazing.

4. Which character in the Breakfast Club were you most like in the ’80s?

Was there a 1-5 year old in that movie, because that’s how old I was throughout the 80’s. But, if the 80’s were now, I’d say that I would be that geeky kid.

5. Name 5 songs you know ALL the lyrics to.

“Wanna Be” by the Spice Girls, “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga, “See You Again” by Miley Cyrus, “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz and “The Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats. Don’t judge me.

6. Do you make pancakes from scratch or a box mix?

We’re big fans of Aunt Jemina’s recipe.

7. What was your worst job ever? Why?

I haven’t had any horrible jobs! Why? Because I’m incredibly selective and picky with where I want to work.

8. What was your favourite class in high school?

P.E. or Cooking.

9. Favourite summer guilty pleasure?

Reading for hours in the sunshine.

10. Please share your best money saving tip!

Give yourself an allowance out of your paycheck and hide your credit or debit cards, then only pay for what you have to (rent, gas, bills, etc.) When I was strapped for cash that’s what I did and it worked amazingly.

1. If you could trade lives with another blogger for a day, who would it be and why?

I really don’t think I can pick one, because they’re all so unbelievably freaking awesome. I’ll do a rotation of all my favourites.

2. Do you prefer receiving handmade or store bought gifts? Be honest!

Handmade gifts have more thought put into them, but sometimes I think to myself, “Cute, but what the hell am I going to do with this!?”

3. Would you rather camp or stay in a hotel?

I love both, but I think if it were for a long period of time (like more than one night) I’d say hotel! Personal hygiene always wins.

4. What’s your favourite comfort food?

Macaroni & Cheese, hands down.

5. You’re having a really bad day at work. How do you unwind when you come home?

I ask Kyle for a big hug and then I pour myself a drink. Horrible, but sometimes a big Caesar is all I need!

6. What’s your favourite chore? (Or, the chore you hate the least)

Laundry, minus the putting away part. At least I can toss it in the machine and forget about for an hour before I actually have to do something about it!

7. What got you interested in blogging?

The first time I started blogging it was to get out of a written project for one of my university courses. Now, it’s just to let my thoughts and randomness flow.

8. Are you currently reading a book? What is it?

I’m in between books at the moment but I just bought Hope in a Jar by Beth Harbison and I’ll eventually get around to reading it.

9. Do you have a favourite artist?

Oh, you have to be more specific than that! Musical artist? Visual artist? I’m just going to answer “No”, purely just because I have certain tastes as opposed to artist preferences.

10. Have you ever met someone famous?

This would probably mean nothing to most of you, but I’ve met Kenny Florian of UFC fame. That was pretty awesome. I’ve also met Lorne Cardinal from Corner Gas. (If you’re Canadian and don’t know about this show, get out of the country)

Happy Tuesday, and Happy Birthday to my little brother!

We're too cool for school!

Ten on Tuesday

1. What would the title of your autobiography be?

“Stories from a Small Town.” So far, I’ve learned that growing up in a small town can be challenging, especially when everyone knows who you are, were you like, and probably what colour your underwear are. (Hello outdoor clothesline!)

2. What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard a child say or seen him/her do?

(At my evening job at the grocery store)
4-yr old: “Why are you putting the groceries in the buggy?”
Me: “Because it’s good to help!”
4-yr old: *Thinks about it for a moment …* “Yeah, it is!”

It was just really cute!

3. What is your favourite kids game to play?

Tag! Haha, Kyle and I run around the house playing tag. It’s ridiculous since there’s not a lot of space.

4. If you got invited to a potluck BBQ tomorrow, what would you bring?

Either ears of corn (If it’s local and in season. BC has the BEST corn ever!) or a spinach dip. I make a wicked spinach dip, sourdough bread bowl and all!

5. If your ears are pierced, how old were you when you got your ears pierced?

I don’t remember how old I was when I got them first pierced, maybe 4 or 5? I got my 2nd holes done when I was in grade 4 I think.

6. If you were celebrating your 30th anniversary, where would you want to go?

Somewhere warm! Although it depends on how old I am. Maybe a cruise? Old people seem to dig cruiseships.

7. What one blogger would you love to meet and why? And what would you want to plan to do with them?

All of them and we’d drink our faces off. Or just sip on classy martinis.

8. On a scale from 1-10, how good at you at home decor? (Pictures welcome.)

I think I’d give myself a 5, right in the middle. I have splendid taste, but I haven’t been able to put it to use since we’re renting, yaddi-yaddi-yadda …

9. Do you have good fingernails?

No, they’re all different shapes. My index fingernail on my right hand is flat on the top from working at the grocery store & punching in codes!

10. Pickles: Dill or sweet? Baby, spears, or chips? Plain or on a burger?

DILL! BABY! CHIPS! ANY WAY! I’ve always loved pickles. My grandma actually makes sure she has pickles when I go to visit her because I always grab a couple out of her fridge. Oh, and I only put pickles on my burger at home because restaurants always use those nasty sweet-ish pickles. Gross.
