Seven Quick Takes

  1. Kyle’s birthday was on Monday and we celebrated by going out for Greek food with his mom and her boyfriend, followed by cake at our place. It was a nice quiet evening, which is good, because our friends are coming over tonight for fun and shinanigans! It shall be a grand event.
  2. I should be able to share that exciting news I had hinted at last week with you early next week! We’re just waiting on a couple of things to happen first :D
  3. I’m pretty sure I’ve already mentioned this a couple times, but my wedding is now EXACTLY three months away. I’m excited and terrified all at the same time. My dress should be in at the end of the month! I can’t wait to put it on again. I may just stroll around downtown in it, even, as long as Kyle’s not lurking around a corner somewhere to sneak a peek ;)
  4. I finished Water for Elephants a couple weeks ago and absolutely LOVED it, especially the ending. I can’t wait to watch the movie starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson – Apparently it doesn’t come out until April 22? No fair.
  5. I am feeling slightly overwhelmed with freelance work at the moment, only because the people who I have to interview don’t understand that I’m a busy person too. My deadline is Wednesday next week and I’m just hoping to hell that I make it on time. Gaah.
  6. I have come to accept that I will never be awesome at yoga. On Wednesday it was snowing like crazy when I got up to go to the gym, so I stayed at home and did some Yoga Meltdown withthe devil woman Jillian Michaels. My wrists are too weak to do anything. Chaturanga push-ups? Forget it. I guess it’s years of typing at a keyboard and ringing in groceries that have done them in. I do, however, love the locust pose. It makes my back feel amazing! (Note to self: Make chiropractor appointment) Yeah, I know practice makes perfect, but I just don’t love yoga like a lot of other people do.
  7. I had my Won Ton soup fix FINALLY last night, with enough for leftovers today. OMG. I can die happy. :)

Happy Friday! Have YOU satisfied any cravings lately?

Seven Quick Takes

~1~

There’s a stinkin’ blizzard outside right now! It’s windy as heck, there’s snow falling, and it’s COLD! It was even hard to breathe while I walked from my car to the gym this morning. Brr! I plan on staying inside for as long as possible today. Daphne, on the other hand, just wants to be outside.

Kyle is a pretty huge movie buff so we like to play 20 Questions with movies when we can’t fall asleep. Usually he stumps me and he always figures out my answer within 10 questions, but last night – I won, haha! I guessed all three he had for me and I even stumped him on one of our favourites – Super Troopers! I may brag about this one for a while.

~3~

There was a woman wearing JEGGINGS at the gym this morning. If I could multitask/had a better camera phone/be more incognito I would’ve taken a picture for proof. I can understand tights, but jeggings? Ridonkulous!

~4~

I FINALLY have wedding favours figured out! Whew! I was browsing for ideas and had an “AH HA!” moment when I seen them – Chocolate covered pretzels! We’re going to make them ourselves, the chocolate covered part, that is. Delicious! We’ve also finally started picking out our music for the “main” songs. The hardest will be the mother/son, father/daughter dance. Everything is so cliché! We also have the best song ever for the wedding party. Everytime we knock something off of our “to-do” list it gets me more and more excited about the wedding.

My dad JUST called and told me I can get my new phone today, and then get a new phone contract next week. Huzzah! Goodbye, POS flip phone!

Even though Kyle and I pretty much just bought our place, we can’t help but keep looking at real estate. We’re already looking into what and where we want our next house to be. It will definitely be our “child-raising” home, lol.

~7~

This will probably make me sound like a cranky old lady, but the “kids” (See: College students) next door to us are SO LOUD. I’m more than certain that it’s Reading Break and they’re just partying. Last week they were yelling outside as they got home from the bar at 3 in the morning. Last night, it was loud music while I was trying to watch Big Bang. Oh well. They eventually turned their music down, and they didn’t wake me up in the middle of the night, so I won’t complain too much.

Seven Quick Takes

For the first time in quite a while, I’ve posted every day this week. Okay, minus the weekend, but those don’t count. Days off are days off!

~2~

My mom and I are going to the annual Bridal Fair in town this weekend. I’m excited for it! I’m hoping to be able to get some ideas for decorations, as well as scooping up coupons for cakes (the place I want to get mine from will be there!), spa treatments and flowers. Woo!

~3~

B will be in town on Monday and we’re going to go bridesmaid dress shopping. I’m really hoping her, C, and I will be able to find something that works for everyone’s figure and bank account. I just wish the weather wasn’t so ridiculous so that Mel could come too. (Be prepared for photo messages, woman!) Silly Vancouver drivers and their lack of winter tires ;)

~4~

There’s a gutter drain right outside my bedroom window and with all the warm weather we’ve been having, the snow has been melting like crazy. As a result of the meltiness, the drain makes this horrible dripping noise all. night. long. It’s like Chinese water torture to my ears. I can’t stand repetitive noises like that, and it makes it damn-near impossible for me to fall asleep. I’ve been taking doses of sleeping pills to help me sleep. Ah, groggy goodness.

~5~

My neighbours now have some sort of lapdog in their possession. (It looks like a Chihuahua crossed with a Papillon or something like that) As a result, all Daphne wants to do it go outside and stare at the fence. Awesome. I can’t wait for it to be summer so those kids go away. Their parents bought the place so the kids have a place to stay during university. Faaaantastic. (Note to self: Stop sounding like a crazy old lady)

We’re getting a new vehicle! Well, Kyle is. He’s been wanted to buy a new truck for the longest time and there’s a great deal on new Rangers right now, so he ordered one on Wednesday! It takes 8 to 12 weeks to arrive, so we’re doing the anticipation dance! I’m so glad he went for it; he works so hard all the time and deserves to spoil himself. The hilarious thing? The colour of the truck is the same as one of our wedding colours, lol. (Guess which vehicle we’ll be arriving in now?!)

~7~

I spent nearly $60 at Chapters bookstore yesterday! I bought Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, Water for Elephants, and Thin, Rich, Pretty. I can’t decide which one to start first! Suggestions?

Happy Friday everyone! Was this the longest week ever for you too?
What are your weekend plans?
