ABC’s

I saw this the other day on Amber’s blog and thought it was a fun, easy way to fill in a blogging day. Meme’s are pretty much my best friend!

Age: 24 and counting. I’m going to be 25 in a couple months! Wowzers!

Bed size: We have an amazing Queen size bed. It’s super comfortable and I’m so glad I dropped the extra money on the better mattress. Our next one may be  King, but we’re not 100% sure. I don’t think the biggest bed in the world would solve our bed hog problems, lol

Chore you dislike: Laundry and vacuuming. Hate them both! It’s more just folding the laundry and putting it away than tossing it in the machine. Vacuuming is a pain because we have three levels to do, and there’s always dog hair EVERYWHERE. Ugh.

Dogs: One crazy yet amazing Malamute :)

Essential start to your day: Coffee. Some days it can wait, but most of the time, I need it in a bad way.

Favorite colour: Yellow and blue.

Gold or silver: White gold, or platinum ;) Yellow gold looks to goddy to me.

Height: I think I’m about 5’4″.

Instruments you play(ed): I used to play the piano. Not that I can’t today, I just don’t. Get it? lol.

Job title: Freelance writer/Classified clerk/Grocery store cashier

Kids: Not yet! Maybe in a year or so?

Live: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Woo!

Mom’s name: Lori. I love my Mommy!

Nicknames: I don’t really have any! People call me by my first and last name a lot. I guess they think it “flows” well, lol

Overnight hospital stays: None, go me! *knocks on wood*

Pet peeve: Repetitive noises. Hate. them.

Quote from a movie: “Fill your hands you son of a bitch!”

Righty or Lefty: Righty

Siblings: One younger brother. I won’t say little because he’s taller than me, lol

Time you wake up: Usually around 8 a.m. if I don’t go to the gym, 6:45 if I do.

Underwear: Am I wearing any? No, but I’m in my pajamas.

Vegetables you don’t like: Brussell Sprouts. I’m not a huge fan of beets either.

What makes you run late: Getting distracted by something. The other day it was Angry Birds. Stupid birds!

X-Rays you’ve had: My shoulder and my teeth.

Yummy food you make: The lasagna I make is epic.

Zoo animal favorite: I’m not sure – I haven’t been to a zoo in ages!

Seven Quick Takes

~1~

Do you know how hard it is to not blog about wedding junk on any other day other than Wednesdays? But, a promise is a promise, and I won’t talk about wedding details until Wednesday. I’m trying to decide what topic to choose for next week’s Wedding Talk Wednesday post, so I’ll let you help me decide! Your choices are: A) The Dress, B) The Photographer or C) Budgeting. In the event of a tie, I’ll talk about both! (Or all three … whichever way it works out!)

I finally decided to pull out my Christmas decorations from underneath the basement stairs. And that’s about as far as I got, other than hanging my wreath on the front door. I don’t plan on getting my Christmas tree until maybe next Saturday. I’m pretty sure it would die a quick and painful death if I got it any sooner. And I really wish I had a mantle to hang our stockings on! I think that may be a must-have feature in the next house Kyle and I buy. Having stockings on the wall just looks silly to me.

At exactly 4:47 p.m. (according the the clock on my computer at work), the ventilation fan at work turns off and it’s so amazingly quiet in the office. I can actually hear the police scanner in the newsroom quite well, and it’s amusing.

~4~

I have no idea what I’d like for Christmas. Seriously. Kyle keeps asking me. My family keeps asking me. I. Don’t. Know. If anyone is willing to throw out a couple suggestions, I’ll happily consider putting them on my wishlist.

I’ve been trying to figure out what I’d like to get my bridesmaids as a gift for putting up with me. (Okay, I’ll put one wedding point in this post!) I’ve really been leaning towards these from Ritzy Misfit. They’re cute and fun and may be my first Etsy shop purchase!

I went to Job #2’s Christmas party last Saturday and it was a crunkin’ good time. My feet hurt for three days after wearing my 4″ stilettos for a couple hours too many. I won an amazingly soft and cozy faux mink blanket. I can’t wait to snuggle up with it on my couch with a book if I ever have enough spare time to pick up my book again! I’m still only about 1/3 of the way through the Girl Who Played With Fire and I bought it at the end of October! That’s a new record for the longest amount of time its taken me to get through a book.

~7~

I’ve really been craving yam fries lately. I may have to buy myself a yam and whip some up. I have the best recipe ever thanks to this post by the amazingly crafty Kyla Roma. Mmm … yammy goodness! Yum yum YAM! I yam what I yam.

Okay, I’m done. Have a fabulous weekend! :D

For (A Different) Mike:

Yesterday I couldn’t think of anything to blog about for today, so I took to Twitter and asked someone to suggest something, anything, for me to blog about. Whoever tweeted first, that would be my topic. Well Mike, you won, and your topic doesn’t really surprise me:

Alrighty then Mike!

So I first met Mike last year at Job #2’s Christmas party. Actually, I wasn’t even working at Job #2, but I was C’s “date” so I went. My first impression was probably that he was loud, lol. C, for whatever reason, referred to him as “Mikey P”.  I have no idea why, because as it turns out, his last name doesn’t start with a P.

Let’s move onto that. I can’t pronounce Mike’s last name, which is awesome. Seriously! lol. I think it’s Greek? Greek last names are pretty awesome. With all the syllables, they’re a lot cooler than my wham-bam Chinese last name. Stombolopolous, Rockotopolous, Anacondasnakeoplous … I dream of evolving into at least two-syllable name…

Mike also does a pretty good Cake Boss impression, or may it’s just a good Boston accent in general. Also? His Jersey Shoreness is ridiculous. Fist Pumps? Check! He’s quiet a riot to go to the bar with. And he has some pretty wicked dance moves, lol

He’s also involved with a group at the university called SIFE, short for Students in Free Enterprise. Now, I’ll admit that I don’t know much about SIFE, but I DO know that they do a little bit of non-profit work, helping students and businesses understand their finances. That’s pretty awesome, and therefore, Mike is awesome. And he cleans up rather well, lol.

So I need about 30 more words on explaining why Mike is awesome…

When he was still working at Job #2, he was always super helpful with the customers. I’m pretty sure I read a couple comment cards in the past giving Mike mad props.

Alright! I think that’s 250 words, but really, words just aren’t enough to explain the awesomeness that is Mike. You really have to meet him in person! One of my favourite old co-workers, for sure :)
