Listy Friday

– Kyle gets (got?) home from Vegas this morning, at like 3 am. Since I’m writing this Thursday night, I’m going to assume that he and Dave are going to wake me up coming in the house and that the dogs are going to go ape-shit. As long as they don’t wake Isla up, I’ll be okay with it. If they do … Ugh.

– My mom and I went shopping Thursday and I treated myself to some new clothes! I got my first ever pair of skinny jeans from the Gap, a few shirts, and a pair of skinny khakis from American Eagle. Oh – and I got these AWESOME boots from Aldo:

I’m pretty excited to wear them out and about. (Or, if you want to go with the Canadian cliché catchphrase, “Oot and Aboot” – HA!)

– I also found out  yesterday morning that I won a free family photo mini-session with one of my favourite local photographers, Kelly Tuohey! I entered the contest through KamloopsParents.com and am pretty excited for our photos!! We have no “real” family pictures yet, so these are going to be awesome for the holidays :D We get them done on Saturday!

– Isla has her 4 month shots this morning. I’m hoping they go as well as her 2 month shots – She only cried for a few minutes and then she was done like nothing had happened! It probably helped that I gave her a little infant Tylenol though …

– I’m also getting my hair chopped this afternoon, which is waaaay overdue. I’m trying to decide if I want to go short again since my hair is falling out like crazy (Thanks post-partum hair loss!) One thing for sure is that my bangs need to be cut because I currently look something like this:

I think I’ve scared you enough today. Happy Friday!!

Listy Friday

– Kyle leaves for Vegas on Monday! While I’m excited he’s going, I’m going to miss him! We suck at being apart from one another, but I know he’s going to have a radtastic time with his manfriends. I hope he brings me back something awesome. :)

– While he’s gone, my mom and I (and Isla) are going to take a mid-week trip to Kelowna for some shopping! I’m pretty excited for it and am hoping to get some new warm & fuzzies for the cooler weather.

– My grandpa has enlisted in my assistance buying a laptop for himself for when he goes down south. I’m pretty sure he thinks I’m some kind of super tech nerd, which I’m not ,but hopefully I can help him find something reasonable for his needs. If anything, I’ll help him not get screwed over by the sales people since he has very little computer knowledge and the computer techs at the place he wants to buy his PC from are RABID.

– I may have found a daycare for Isla already! Yay! The awesome thing is that it’s RIGHT around the corner from my mom’s house, which is right around the corner from my own house. Double-yay! I’m hoping this will be a good match for Isla, because I’d love not to have to stress out about childcare anymore!

– My mom and I went to one of the local U-pick pumpkin patches in town last weekend to find pumpkins and take some photos of Miss Isla. There were SO many to choose from! I got a cute little one, but will probably find a bigger one closer to Halloween, just in case my baby pumpkin rots before then.

– While Kyle is away I have EPIC meal plans for myself! Since Kyle’s a picky eater, I’m going to test out a couple different recipes and see how they work out before I actually make them for him. I’ve found them all on Pinterest (where else?!), so I hope they turn out okay and I don’t give myself food poisoning.

– I’ve really been craving poutine lately, but haven’t had the opportunity to go get some. I told Kyle yesterday while we were in Costco that I was going to go there while he’s gone and eat ALL OF THE POUTINE. He said something about only being gone a few days, and I told him that I was going to be fat by the time he got home. Also – Costco seriously has THE BEST poutine in town. Also also – I just added “poutine” to Chrome’s dictionary, because yes, it IS a word. A delicious, gravy and cheese curd smothered word.

– We bought Christmas lights the other day and we’re pretty excited to put them up. We also bought Halloween candy a few days ago and I’m proud to say that I HAVEN’T opened the box. Anyway, I’m confused as to what season it actually is. Halloween? Christmas? What?

– Speaking of Christmas, we’ve made the executive decision to host Christmas dinner for EVERYONE this year. We’re just tired of having 4 different Christmas dinners, so we’re going to cook dinner for 10 people. And by “we,” I actually mean Kyle, because I’ve never cooked a turkey before.

– That’s enough rambling for today. Here’s a photo from the pumpkin patch last weekend :)

Listy Friday

– The other day while taking Isla for a stroll with my Mom, we walked past a house with a pallet – A PALLET – of Girl Guide cookies in the garage. Why I didn’t steal 2 or 3 or ALL OF THE BOXES baffles my mind. Talk about will power! Regardless, if that little girl comes to my door offering cookies, she better believe I will buy whatever money I have will get me.

– The first thing to be put into my beautiful Kitchen Aid mixer was not something to be baked, but mashed! Kyle and I decided to mash potatoes with it for our dinner the other night. While it worked wonderfully (they were more like whipped potatoes, which is even better), it was a little overkill. We’ll just stick with the hand masher for now!

– I could probably write a whole blog post about (I probably will in the future), but I’m really irritated by those pushing for breed-specific legislation for “dangerous” dogs. I just wish people would open their minds and do their research thoroughly before wanted to ban an entire breed of dog because of a small number of isolated incidents. *sigh*

– You know how ingrown hairs kind of hurt? Well, ingrown EYELASHES hurt even more! I thought it was a sty (yuck, I know) but I looked closer and it was an EYELASH. Owe, owe, owe, especially when you try to put contact lenses in. Not happening. Oh – and don’t try to “fix” it, because the rim of your eyelid will bleed and you’ll look like some kind of crazy person. Words of the wise, people. Words of the wise …

– I was Facebook lurking a couple days ago and came across a video/story of a doctor who really finds out what labour is like for a woman, pain-wise. It’s quite hilarious, so if you have a spare 10 minutes, you should probably watch the video. Look, here’s a link!

– Sometimes, when I’m in the mall it wherever shopping, I get uber annoyed by the teenaged girls and their mannerisms (OMG, like, totally, tee-hee). Then I remember that I now have a daughter and that may be her in the future. I hope she’s a total nerd so I don’t have to hate myself for hating on teenagers today.

– Isla and I made our television debute on Wednesday! Back in July, I was approached by one of our local TV stations to be on a segment of a show about parenting. I got to talk about being a mom and blogging with a baby! It was pretty fun and awesome to see. Isla was still so tiny in the segment too, since she was only about a month old. Here’s the video:

– For the past 2 years Kyle and I have been using a Tassimo machine to provide us with delicious caffine in the mornings. Because t-discs aren’t exactly cheap (about $7 for a pack of 14) and we each have a cup of coffee a day, it was starting to get costly. To save money, we’ve switched back to using our regular-drip coffee machine, and let me tell you, the wait for coffee in the morning is AGONIZING! I would hit the “Go” button on the Tassimo machine before I get Isla ready to eat and then in seconds, have my coffee ready to sip while I nurse her. Now? It takes forever! I’ll just have to remember to turn the programming feature on so it’s ready when I get up in the morning.

That’s it for today! Have a wonderful weekend!
