Ten on Tuesday

Here’s another edition of Ten on Tuesday, brought to you by Roots and Rings!

1.  What book, movie or song has made you want to travel to a particular place? (eg. I went to Prince Edward Island because I was such a Anne of Green Gables fan)

I read Dear John by Nicolas Sparks and it made me want to visit the East Coast! Right now I’m reading a book called “Shanghai Girls” by Lise See and it really makes me want to visit China even more.

2. Aside from your significant other, who would you want to take with you on a dream trip?

My Mommy :)

3. Where would said dream trip be to?

Somewhere luxurious, warm and tropical, definitely.

4. If you were hosting guests or providing tips, what three things would you show visitors to your hometown? (be it where you live now or where you grew up)

The Farmer’s Market, the Wildlife Park and the cupcake store! At the Wildlife Park, you’ll learn that the “Deer/Moose X-Ing” signs on the road mean “Watch out!” rather than “This is a good place to spot BC wildlife.” I’m not even joking!

5. If you had a long weekend ahead of you, where you head – beach, city or country/mountains?

The country! I’m feeling a little worn out, so a little R&R would be very welcome right now!

6. Do you have a passport? If so, did you get it for a particular trip or just to have, in case?

I don’t :( It’s been on my “To do” list for quite a while but I haven’t gotten around to it.

7. Are there any travel souvenirs you collect? If not, is there something else you collect?

I’ve tried collecting lots of things, but they never pan out. I’ve done Thimbles (thanks to my Grandma), drink coasters (again, my Grandma!), magnets and shot glasses, but I don’t have a huge collection of anything. It’s all just clutter now. Except for maybe the shot glasses. Now those I use! ;)

8. If you could name a paint colour, what colour would it be and what would you call it?

It would be yellow and be called Asian. Haha!

9. If you were heading away for a weekend citybreak solo, where would you go? (forget about practicality here and flight times, assume you can get to any city in the world for the weekend)

I’d say Vancouver. I know where everything is and I know exactly what I’d do. Anywhere else, it would take me more than a weekend!

10. Is there a song or a smell or something that you strongly associate with a particular holiday/place/time, such that it always takes you back?

Angel Food cake! It reminds me of my Grandparents. My Grandma always makes an Angel Food cake for everyone’s birthday (if they’re in town), topped with ice cream, strawberries, whipped cream and sprinkles! It’s probably one of my favourite childhood memories. :)

Annnnnnd today is my Mom’s birthday! Happy Birthday Mommy! <3

Ten on Tuesday

Here’s another edition of Ten on Tuesday, brought to you by Roots and Rings!

1.  If you could travel back in time, would you?  What decade would you visit?

I sure would! I’d visit the 17th Century, or something fabulous like that. The gowns, feasts and parties would be amazing to experience, minus the beheading and such. And all the scandals! King cheats on Queen with girl, she has his baby and then he falls in love with her sister, she has her baby … drama!

2. What was your best Halloween costume?  (fun to make? most creative?)

A couple years ago I borrowed all of Kyle’s welding stuff (jacket, overalls, helmet, etc.) and was a welder for Halloween at work. That was pretty awesome. I haven’t dressed up for Halloween since!  When I was little my mom and aunt made me a Little Mermaid costume, and that was pretty awesome.

3. Do you like your name?  If you weren’t called by your name, what would you want to be called?

I do like my name! I really can’t think of another name to be called by, but since some of my coworkers think I’m actually a crappy old spinster, we’ll go with Gertrude.

4. In the past year, what is the BEST recipe you made.  Please share it!

It was definitely my Banana Bread, and the recipe is posted here!

5. Look around – what is the nearest object or picture hanging on the wall?

It’s a picture my aunt gave me when I graduated from high school. I’ve been meaning to replace it with Kyle’s welding certificate, but I haven’t felt like climbing chairs in a while.

6. What was the last movie you saw in a theatre?  Would you recommend it?

I watched Valentine’s Day with my mom. It was cute! I’d watch it again :)

7. Did you go to summer camp?  Will you/do you send your kids to camp?

Summer camps were non-existent in my small hometown, but there was a science camp one summer that I went to. I think I was was the summer between Grades 2 and 3 maybe? It was a lot of fun ANNNND Kyle and I were in the same group! I think we were destined to be together.

8. What kind of ringtone do you have?

For calls I have “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga and for texts I just have a knocking sound.

9. Where is the farthest away from home you have ever been?

Palm Springs, California! My Nana used to live there and my grandparents always snowbird there, so I got to fly down and visit them during spring break in Grade 9. It was so much fun, even though it was with my grandparents.

10. Has anyone ever written a song or a poem for or about you?

I’m pretty sure John Mayer wrote “Wonderland” thinking of me. Haha!

Now tell me – How do you like your coffee?

This is me in April

This month….

I like: that things are starting to look up at my job, even though it’s slow going.

I don’t like: that the weather is still so cold!

I want you to know: that my birthday is in just over a month! (32 days to be exact!)

I’ve planned: a list of 96 in 1096, and I’m pretty excited to start it!

I want to say to someone special: I’m so glad you guys are back from snowbirding and can’t wait to see you this week! <3

Do you have any special plans for April? And did the Easter Bunny come to visit??
