I’m Home

I’m sitting in my house, in my living room, looking out at my patio.

Things couldn’t be any more perfect right now.

Actually, that’s a lie. If the boxes could please unpack themselves, that would be great.

Our spare bedroom and computer room are both a mess, but at this point, we don’t care. I’m exhausted from the past couple days and all I want to do is sleep. But I love it. We had so much amazing help moving on Saturday; We got everything from one house to the other in about two hours! And the weather seemed to cooperate long enough for us to move the beds and couch.

Our digital cable and Internet are being install hopefully on Tuesday. Luckily, the cable and Internet are still working from the past occupants, so I can still do my freelancing/blog/be lazy. (I was feeling a little lost without it!) On Friday we’re going to have our phone hooked up.

Daphne is also good and settled in. Life’s just peachy :)

My Week at a Glance

I’m pretty sure the days leading up to next Friday are going to be crazy, insane and going to make me want to cry. Here’s what I have slated out for myself (in no particular order):

  • Get a hold of the Notary to finish off the paperwork for the house.
  • Call up more contacts for my freelance projects and schedule interviews with them.
  • Do an over-the-phone interview on Tuesday and write it up right afterwards because it’s due on Thursday.
  • Work at Jobs #1 and #2.
  • Finish packing up the stuff in the kitchen that we don’t really need (such as the rest of the oven stuff).
  • Pack more clothes away.
  • Blog, because I feel that if I don’t post something everyday, I’m a horrible person.
  • Shower (because hey, if you don’t remind yourself, sometimes you never know)

I really have no idea if I’m going to be able to get all of this done. At least I hope to remember to shower daily. We all win if that happens.

I’ll leave you with a photo from my night out Saturday, to which I was told I was going to get Jersey Shore Drunk, (I didn’t, sorry LiLu!), but I did end up with fat swollen feet from my sexy yet painful shoes. I’m so sad that the hurt so much:

What’s in store for you this week?

50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind

I’ve seen this series posted all over the blogosphere and can’t help but participate! It all started over at Marc and Angel Hack Life. And because I’m playing catch-up, here’s three weeks worth of questions for you!

As I post more,  I’ll create a tab up in the menu to find all the asnwers all at once, since, I’m nice like that.

~~~~~
1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
Judging only by my body’s ache and pains, I’ll go with 48. Otherwise, I’d say I’m exactly the age I am. (24)
2. Which is worse, failing or never trying?
Never trying, because you don’t know if you can do something until you try, no matter what limitation you think you  may have.
3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
Because money can’t buy happiness, and sometimes you just have to do things because you have to, not because you want to.
4. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
Probably. I dream big but act small, I suppose you could say. I’d love to do a lot of things but time and money aren’t always on my side.
5. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
Respect. We don’t respect each other, or anything for that matter, enough. Let’s show a little more love.
6. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
Being near animals, specifically dogs. I can’t help but smile when I’m near mine or see others.
7. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
Right now, I’d say I’m doing a little of both. I’m buying a house, which is something I’ve always dreamed of, but I’m settling on work. It’ll be fine for now, and I’m sure it will eventually get me to where I want to be.
8. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
I don’t think I would. I just think that we’d go to school for a shorter period of time, marry younger and procreate sooner. I’m down with retiring at the age of 20.
9. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
Almost entirely. Sure, there are a couple things I couldn’t control, just as my family life growing up, but everything else, from sports to school to friends, has been my decision. Sometimes bad things happen and you have to re-route, but it’s all for a reason.
10. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
Doing the right thing. I’m constantly worried about disappointing people or letting them down. Of course, I’m a little bit of a perfectionist too.
11.You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?
I tell them to knock it off because I’m friends with that person and that person is actually a genuinely nice person. “Treat others the way you would want to be treated” has a lot of meaning to me.
12. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
“Learn to love yourself.”
13. Would you break the law to save a loved one?
In a heartbeat.
14. Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?
Yes.
15. What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
Organize a dishwasher. I’m not even joking, but I swear I can perfectly load a dishwasher.
