Day 20

I almost forgot to post today! I guess I’ve had a lot on my mind, which I’ll go into in the near future. I’m thinking about starting a new theme day on le blogge, “Wedding Wednesdays”. One day to get all the wedding thoughts out of my head so this doesn’t turn into a nauseating wedding blog. You’re welcome.

Anyway, today’s topic is:

Nicknames

Ooh boy! Really, I don’t have too many that I go by, and really, they don’t have any special meanings. Here’s a list of a few both present and past ones (with origins if I can remember what they are):

  • KC – My initials. I’m pretty sure only my mom, dad and grandma call me that.
  • KiChow – My high school math teather called me that because he thought it sounded cool.
  • Fred – Shortly after I started Grade 8, a guy asked me what my name was. Being ridiculous, I said it was Fred. It stuck. My high school principal even called me that all throughout high school.
  • The Kitty – This was the result of a drunken work Christmas party and me pretending to clean my face like a cat. Weird, I know.
  • Kara-Lee – This, apparently, is my hillbilly nickname, according to my old roommate.

I’m more than certain that there’s more, but they’re just not coming to me. It’s way too early for me to be thinking!

Tomorrow: Picture of yourself

Day 19

Something you miss

I miss having the weekends off. I’m so, so tired of working almost every day of the week. I’m tired of having to scan people’s groceries and pretending to be nice. I miss just doing what I want on weekends and not having to do everything in the mornings before I go to work.

Every few weeks my body just shuts down after working constantly and tells me that I need to rest. I miss feeling healthy and well rested.

I hope that some day soon I’ll get a break and just be able to work one jobs (or two if you count my freelancing gigs).

I miss just having one job.

Tomorrow: Nicknames

“8 Years is Probably Long Enough”

That’s what Kyle first said to me after he made me open my eyes and presented me with the most amazing ring I could ever dream of having. I believe my answer was “Are you serious?”, before he said, “Yes!”, to which I responded, “What?” and then he asked “Will you marry me?” Then of course I finally said yes :)

And today? Today is our 8-year anniversary. That’s a long time considering we’ve been dating since we were 16.

Together, we’ve graduated high school, his parents split up, he finished the complete welding program and became a journeyman welder, I graduated university with a bachelor degree, we bought a house.

Pleasantries aside, we’ve fought, we’ve struggled and we’ve contemplated our relationship, like any normal couple would.

But today, today is extra special because it’s the last anniversary we’ll celebrate at a non-married couple. In a year from now, we’ll be married, and who knows, maybe there will be a baby on the way (or at least more serious talks about one being made)

So happy anniversary to the most amazing guy in the world :)

And for something completely old school: The very first photo ever taken of Kyle and I together as a couple (Taken in December 2002)
