WTW: Your Questions, Answered!

Last week, I put the word out that I’d answer anyone’s questions they may have about wedding planning, be it for mine or otherwise. Here’s my answers!

Out of all the wedding planning what would you say has given you the biggest headache? What’s been the most fun?

Finding bridesmaid’s dresses was stressful. With everyone living in a different city, I was really worried that I wasn’t going to be able to find anything that I liked, nevermind something affordable for my girls. Luckily, two of the three were able to get together and we found the perfect dress that was also affordable!

I’d also say that settling on the guest list was VERY stressful. I have tons of family and Kyle doesn’t. We didn’t know where to draw the line when it came to 2nd cousins and other relatives.

That being said – the most fun is getting all the little RSVP cards back! Getting a “Yes” card in the mail just makes me giddy!

Another Amber (lol!) asked:

Did you ever consider a destination wedding? Why or why not?

We briefly played with the idea, mostly because we have dysfunctional family members and a destination wedding would be the “easy way out” of inviting them. (Chances are, they wouldn’t be able to afford to go) We decided against it because a) It’s expensive, b) Neither of us have passports and c) We want to share the day with everyone, regardless of how well they may or may not get along with everyone. Here’s to hoping all goes smoothly!

What is something about wedding planning you did not expect at all?

How easy it’s been overall. Seriously! Granted, I had a lot of vendors picked out before Kyle even proposed, but even with our short engagement period (seven months, give or take!) it was easy finding caterers, photographers, DJ’s and venues. Everything else was expected – the cost especially. I guess that’s what happens when you watch Rich Bride, Poor Bride every morning! lol

What are you doing for the ceremony – are you having it outdoors or indoors?

Our ceremony is going to be indoors. Because the wedding is in early June and we tend to have bi-polar weather, I didn’t want to get stuck in the rain. My fingers are crossed for not-too-hot, not-too-cold weather!

Are you writing your own vows?

We are not, mostly because Kyle does not have a creative bone in his body, lol. But really, it’s less sappy that way too. We’re not super mushy romantic people, so it would be pretty uncharacteristic!

Is the wedding that you are planning one you’ve always dreamed of having?

You know, I never dreamed of my wedding growing up, so no! I only started “plotting” a couple years ago after Kyle and I moved in together.

Any other questions? Just ask! I had fun answering these!

And be sure to go congratulate Amber at the Girl With the Red Hair, as well as Eemusings at Musings of an Abstract Aucklander, who both just got ENGAGED last week! Amber actually asked a few of these questions before her man popped (I totally just accidentally wrote that as “pooped”) the question, but I suppose they have more meaning behind them now, lol! (Congrats again ladies!)

Ten on Tuesday

1. What is your cleaning style like?

I’m not entirely sure I have a cleaning style. Usually it’s an “All or Nothing” thing, “Go big or go home!” I’ll clean everything in the same day (floors, bathrooms, etc.) and be done with it. I HATE cleaning. I need a maid.

2. What is your favourite thing to add to an outfit to take it from casual to classy?

Probably a nice pair of shoes! I usually wear cute flats to work to class up my outfit and then wear flip flops everywhere else. I love my flip flops and can’t wait to let my toes be free! (And to start painting them again. Unseen toes in socks = fugly toes)

3. Do you like stormy weather?

No. I hate the wind and when it’s mixed with rain I just want to curl up on the couch and be lazy. I need happy, sunny weather to get me motivated.

4. What is your favourite cold treat on a hot day?

I love Greek salad on a hot day! I also love Starbuck’s passion lemonade. Such an awesome thirst quencher!

5. What is your favourite warm treat on a cold day?

Hot chocolate! I actually just bought hot chocolate T-Discs for my Tassimo machine Sunday. So delicious, even though it’s only about 9 oz. Ah well.

6. Who is your favourite animated character?

Well, my favourite animated movie from childhood is 101 Dalmatians, so I’ll say Pongo. :)

7. What do you keep your jewelry in?

I keep all my plugs and such for my ears in a little fishing tackle box, lol! Everything else – necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc. – are in an actual jewelry box.

8. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme?

Not really, but the room Kyle’s computer is in is nicknamed “The Man Cave.” It has a Miller (a welding product company) clock, UFC posters and his trades stuff hanging on the walls. Man Cave! Although, the bookshelf is in there and all my girly chick-lit books are on it. I’m everywhere, bwhaha!

9. Do you watch any interior design TV shows – if so, what is your favourite?

I haven’t in a loooong time! I used to watch Trading Spaces with my mom all the time, but I haven’t watched it in ages. (Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s not on the air) My mom and I would argue over who we’d wait to redesign a room in our house, and what room we’d want done.

10. When was the last time you did something risk-taking?

That’s a good question. I usually don’t take risks unless I’m damn-sure it will work out in the end!

Sometimes …

Sometimes …

… I make very effort to go to the gym but I just don’t.

… I have a good excuse to not go to the gym, like dislocating my shoulder for the zillionth/9th time.

… I get tired of people asking me how the wedding planning is going, only because nothing new has happened lately. I did find my shoes though, but who wants to talk about white flip flops? *snore*

… I wonder if I’m in the right career. Job #1 is not looking so hot right now. Times are scary in the media world, especially if you work part-time in a dying section of the media. *sigh* Maybe I need to go back to school. Maybe.

… My blog posts lack “umph”. Like today.
