Friday Bullets

I’m too lazy to link up for Seven Quick Takes today. Instead, you get bullets.

– Kyle and I went to a wedding last weekend and I got eaten alive by mosquitoes. I also took a lot of photos that I haven’t edited yet. When I do, I’ll share them!

– I was asked to work on a new project at work – I’m pretty excited! That’s all the details you get though, until it gets off the ground. Sorry :)

– My amazing wedding photographer Jo wrote up such a sweet post on her blog about Kyle and I’s wedding day. It made me tear up a little. Please stop by her blog and give it a read – you won’t be disappointed! And – there’s a few photos in her post that aren’t included in my Facebook gallery.

Okay, so you only get three bullets. Which is sad because it feels like I’ve been ridiculously busy lately. *sigh*

WTW: The Ceremony

Oh, oops, I kind of forgot a week there, didn’t I? Anyway, to continue on with my wedding day series, Let me tell you about the ceremony …

I can’t remember who gave me this piece of advise, but it was definitely great: As you walk down the aisle, look at your soon-to-be husband and only him and it will help calm your nerves. To that person, whoever you were,  thank you!

As I made my way down the aisle to Kyle, I didn’t take my eyes off of him. My whole body was tingling with nervousness, but looking at him kept my emotions in check. As I reached him at the end of what seemed like the longest walk ever, he told me how beautiful I looked. Still, no tears. I don’t know how I went through the whole ceremony without crying, to be honest. My mom cried, my MIL cried, I’m sure my grandma cried, and one of my lovely bridesmaids confessed she cried during the whole ceremony (Don’t worry, you didn’t ruin the photographs! I promise!).

What I do know is that the whole ceremony is a blur, and it’s a good thing our marriage commissioner gave us a copy of our ceremony “script” because I don’t remember what I said 100% (awful, I know!). But – I do know that the wording was perfect and reflected us a couple to a “T”.

The best moment of the ceremony was finally being able to kiss Kyle as my husband – and as an un-rehearsed wedding kiss, it was pretty fabulous ;)

We walked down the aisle, together, finally, after eight years of growing together, as husband and wife. We stepped into a backroom of the ceremony venue and that’s when all my emotions that I had suppressed throughout the entire day finally let go. I cried an extremely happy cry. Kyle was shocked and asked what the matter was, but I just told him that I was so happy and in love and that all my suppressed emotions finally couldn’t be contained. And that was it for the day – no more tears and nothing but happiness for finally being married to the wonderful man that I love.

Next week I’ll try to remember to post about the reception!

1. What do you traditionally do for 4th of July?

 Traditionally, it’s just a regular ol’ day for me! But, I do always think of how us Canadian are huge wieners in having to celebrate our national holiday first, lol

2. Did you follow your tradition this year? How did you celebrate yesterday?

I certainly did, lol!

3. What’s the best fireworks show you’ve ever seen?

When I was in Grade 6 we went to watch the Celebration of Lights (I think it was called the Symphony of Fire then). It was absolutely spectacular! For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s an international fireworks display competition choreographed to music. I think we watchedChina’s fireworks and they won that year. I definitely want to go watch them again sometime!

4. Have you ever been injured by a firecracker?

No! My dad used to get ahold of them, but I was only allowed to watch, not touch. It’s probably a good thing.

5. Burger, Brat, or Hot Dog?

It’s a toss-up between a burger and hot dog. I love them both when I have a craving for one. I’m not a big fan of brats though. Too sausagey.

6. Do you sport red, white and blue on our Independence Day?

Can’t say I do ;)

7. If you had to be from any country other than the USA, what country would it be?

Canada! Haha ;)

8. Charcoal or gas?

I don’t think I’ve ever used a charcoal grill, and we have a propane barbecue. My mom has a natural gas barbecue though … so I’ll say gas?

9. What’s your favorite thing about this fair country of ours?

Well, since I’m Canadian I’ll say that my favourite thing about the gool ol’ U.S. of A. is the fact that when certain junk foods are discontinued inCanada(Code Red Mountain Dew for example), you can still buy it in the States. I give my grandparents a shopping list when they go snowbirding every winter toPalm Springs, lol.

10. God Bless the USA, My Country Tis of Thee, or the Star Spangled Banner?

I’ll say Star Spangled Banner, only because when I watch hockey games that are in American arenas the singers are always soooo passionate about the anthem but always mangle the Canadian anthem.
