Bang, bang. You get Bullets

I’ve been way to crazy busy to write actual posts. This is all you get.

  • I have a freelance project due today and I swear I’ll get it finished, as much as my husband panics about me procrastinating for so long.
  • We move in six days!!
  • It’s finally really started to snow in Kamloops which makes me kind of happy and kind of annoyed. I really wish it would’ve held off until after we move. Oh well. Can’t have everything, right?
  • NINE years ago today Kyle and I started dating. We celebrated by going out for dinner at a super fabulous restaurant. I ate sablefish and Kyle had steak. We also shared crab cakes as a starter plate and he had a dessert sampler with creme brule, baklava and toffee pudding and I had star anise and pear crumble with vanilla bean gelato. OMG. So good!

  • Kyle treated me to a new winter coat! Last year I really wanted a wool coat but never got around to buying one. My past coat has been an enormous yet very warm Carhartt jacket. I really just wanted something more professional looking and less industrial. I’m pretty excited to wear it out today! The only downer is that it’s going to collect dog hair like a fool.
  • I’m finally getting my hair/bangs cut today. I’ll never go longer than three weeks without trimming my bangs ever again. I look like an emo hipster kid.
  • I have started my Christmas shopping. WHO AM I??? Never before have I started shopping in November. Never.
  • Writing this blog post is only helping my procrastination.
  • Some time in December I have an exciting announcement. I think. We’ll see! (cue dramatic music and fade away …)

Happy Friday! What’s on your list today?

Ten on Tuesday

1. What are your pantry staples?
Pasta in various forms (I always have rotini and a long skinny noodle like spaghetti or linguine) and rice. Gotta have my starchy carbs!

2. What are your refrigerator staples?
Juice, always. I try to keep a jar of pasta sauce in there too to go along with my pantry staples.

3. You already look like Heidi Klum (or your favorite supermodel). Now, what are the top three non-physical things you would change about yourself?
Better public speaking skills (a.k.a., I will no long go red and break out into a nervous sweat), I’d be more thrifty and I’d be dirrrrty rich! (Come on, who wouldn’t like more money?)

4. What’s holding you back from your dream job? (If you already have your dream job, how did you get there?)
Lack of movement within the company and lack of experience. I know one day I’ll get there though!

5. You have $500 to spend but it has to be on one item only. Go.
Kitchen table. Easy.

6. What is something that you are embarrassed to admit you buy on a regular basis?
I don’t think there’s anything I buy on a regular basis that’s embarrassing. I’ve made a couple of non-regular purchases recently that are awkward, but I shall not mention them because they’re a secret. Oh – I did start buying Proactive (you know, that skin-care line that celebrities hawk?). I’m still up in the air on whether or not it’s actually working though. My hormones are too much of a mess right now to tell.

7. What’s in/on your bed every night?
Other than myself, that’s about it. Daphne sleeps on the bed when Kyle’s not home, but don’t tell Kyle that ;)

8. What is a non-necessity item that, no matter how expensive it gets or how tight your budget if, you will always find room for it?
Costco membership. Always. It’s like, $60/year for a basic membership and buying in bulk saves SO MUCH MONEY. I love Costco to pieces.

9. What is the weirdest sandwich you’ve ever made?
When I was little I would make butter and Nestle chocolate milk powder sandwiches. Gross, right? What the hell was I thinking?

10. Would you rather: Be banned from Pinterest forever, but gain a million captive Twitter followers; or, never get on Facebook again but gain five thousand blog readers?
Oh the popularity! I guess I’ll go with being banned from Pinterest, because at least I can still Google stuff. That’s the way we did it before Pinterest, right? Right!

What are your household pantry or fridge staples? Do you have a Costco membership? (Or something similar?)

Never Have I Ever …

I’m seen this floating around the blogosphere for a couple weeks now, so I figured I’d participate!

Never have I ever …

  • Cooked a turkey, or any “big family dinner” food
  • Owned an Apple product other than an iPod
  • Painted a room
  • Been more happy with my life, despite how crumby I feel right now
  • Have I been able to keep a surprise from Kyle
  • Been more excited to move (in 10 days!)
  • Been more exhausted
  • Baked a pie
  • Gone to a yoga class
  • Been to a public pool and not be grossed out
  • Ran more than 5K. (At least not on purpose. Who knows how much you run while playing soccer?)
  • Got to a no-meat diet. Although right now I’m considering it.
  • Not finished a book I didn’t like
  • Gone to the western-most point of Canada
  • Wanted election “season” to be over with so badly
What are your “Never Have I’s?”
