Weekend Update

This weekend gave us a little bit of a preview of the fall weather that’s rapidly coming our way!

Friday
Kyle went hunting in the morning but the girls and I didn’t get up to much. Norah worked hard on rolling over and eventually succeeded! My mom came and picked Isla up in the afternoon and had her over for a sleepover, so Kyle and I decided to go out for dinner (and Norah, of course). We tried a new restaurant and while the food was good, the service was subpar. Luckily, Norah slept almost the entire time and didn’t fuss, so we were able to somewhat enjoy our time! After that we came home and watched an episode of Longmire on Netflix before heading to bed.

Trying to roll means wiggling her way sideways!

Saturday
Norah woke up just after 7 after sleeping through the night. While that doesn’t happen every night I’m glad she did since her sister wasn’t home! Kyle and I lazed around most of the morning and then decided to head to the mall to do a little Christmas shopping. (Awful, I know, but he has his grandma’s name for our Christmas draw and she leaves mid-October to snowbird, so we have to buy gifts early!) We came home in time for the Blue Jays game and my mom brought Isla home around 3. Kyle cooked a yummy roast for dinner and we all tried to go to bed early. (Isla and Norah did, Kyle and I failed, as per usual.)

Sunday
Norah was up around 6:40 and Isla was awake about 30 minutes later. Kyle was heading out for breakfast with his uncle but he managed to make me coffee, get Isla her breakfast, put the dishes away, and bring up the clean laundry before he left. (Best Husband Award, right there!) Norah managed to fall back to sleep for another hour and a half after she nursed, so I managed to eat breakfast, drink my coffee and shower before she woke up. Sunday is our grocery shopping day, so I got Norah dressed and we headed out to the store! After that we watched the Blue Jays play and headed outside to play for a bit before heading to Kyle’s mom’s for a visit. The rest of the day was pretty standard – dinner, bath time for the girls, and quality TV watching after they went to bed! Weekends be cray-zay here, yo ;)

How was your weekend?

Weekend Update

I swear I’m not intentionally letting things get quiet on the blog, I’ve just been busy either chasing a toddler or feeding a newborn. Either way, here’s a quick update on what’s been going on lately in my life:

Friday
Kyle went back to work so it was just Isla, Norah and I at home for most of the day! It was a good “test” day for me flying solo with both girls all on my own too. As much as I loved having Kyle at home helping out, money unfortunately doesn’t grow on trees so he couldn’t stay home forever.

Norah’s eye gas been super goopy to the point where it was glued shut when she woke up from her naps, so I called our doctor and managed to get in to see him. It turns out that she has a clogged tear duct, so his only suggestion was to gently massage it with a wet q-tip and to squirt breast milk into her eye to try and unclog it. Breast milk is magical stuff, yo, and can cure anything! Her eye is starting to look a bit better now, so yay!

Kyle’s mom came and picked Isla up for a pool day and dinner in the afternoon, so I loaded Norah up and went to my mom’s for dinner since Kyle would be working late. (Any opportunity for me to not have to cook is a good one for me!)

Saturday
Lucky for me, Kyle only had to work Friday, so he was off for the weekend again. We had a relatively lazy day and didn’t get up to a whole bunch. Isla had an impromptu nap on the couch at the same time Norah was asleep in her swing, which was hilarious. (Not so hilarious when Isla had a hard time falling asleep at bedtime though.)

Sunday
Isla, Norah and I met my mom at the mall as I was on the hunt for a couple pairs of shorts that would actually fit me. I still have about 10lbs to lose before I’m back at my pre-pregnancy weight, but I’ve grown tired of only fitting into either my lululemon shorts or my soccer shorts from high school. I managed to find two pairs of shorts in sizes that fit me, so I’m happy that I’ll no longer look shlumpy when I go out in public.

After that, we set out on our usual Sunday routine: groceries and laundry. Ah, the life of a housewife ;)

That’s pretty much all that happened for me this weekend. Please, tell me something fun and exciting that happened to you this weekend!

Weekend Update

Hiya folks! And woulda lookit that – I’m still pregnant! Har hardy har-har ….

But really, sometime this week would be nice. I see my doctor this afternoon, so we’ll see how it goes!

This weekend was pretty laid back and uneventful, but I thought I’d toss together a little update for fun.

Friday
Kyle worked an overtime shift at work, so it was just Isla and I at home. I had my doctor appointment in the morning and after a quick trip to Walmart to pick up some last-minute things for the hospital bag we laid low for the rest of the day.

Saturday
Kyle treated us to homemade pancakes for breakfast and we had a relatively lazy morning before heading to an appointment at our bank after lunch. (We party hard on weekends, haha!) We stopped at Home Depot to get some fence-toppers for our new fence and grabbed some Slurpees from 7-Eleven on our way home. Not long after we got home, a huge storm blew in and we hid inside. We had plans for a fantastic dinner until our power went out and the electric company’s website said it wouldn’t be back on until about 8 p.m. Boo! We called up Kyle’s mom to see if she had power and she did, so we ordered pizza and wings from Boston Pizza (hurray for gift cards!) and took our dinner there to eat. Poor Isla was stressing out pretty bad that the power was out, so it was good for her to be able to hide out at Grandma’s house. We checked to see if the power was back on around 7 and it was, so we headed home! (Also – How great is the internet? I’m so glad we were able to just look it up online to see if our power had been restored.)

Sunday
Isla was up bright and early (around 6:30) so I got up with her and let Kyle sleep in since it was Father’s Day! We had some breakfast and around 8 a.m. Isla wanted to give him the card she had made. We had a fairly lazy morning, although Kyle went for a quick run on the treadmill, and then we got motivated. Even though it was “his” day, Kyle vacuumed the whole house for me, mowed the lawns, AND made us lunch! Best husband ever <3 I went to the grocery store to pick up a few groceries to get us through the week, and we wandered down to his mom’s later in the afternoon for a barbecue with his family. By the time we got home and got Isla to bed just after 8, we were exhausted and ready for bed ourselves and nearly passed out at 8:30. Haha!

That pretty much sums things up!

How was YOUR weekend?? What do you do to pass the time when the power goes out??
