TGIF v.54

I had to scroll all the way back to July to figure out which edition of TGIF this was. I don’t know if that’s a sign that I’ve been busy or lazy … Either way, here’s a recap of our crazy first week back to school!

A high of the week was getting back into the routine of getting ready for school with relative ease. During the summer our mornings were suuuuper lazy, so I was afraid that Isla would have a hard time adjusting, but so far she seems to be doing well! It’s even been nice enough to walk to school in the morning, so we’ve been enjoying that as well!

A low of the week was nothing, really! My arm is really sore for some reason but I have an appointment with an RMT next week so hopefully that solves most of the discomfort in my muscles.

An internet find I loved was not necessarily a “find” but I’ve started watching Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix and have been really enjoying it. Timothy Olyphant is one of my favourites, so that’s perhaps why …

The best money I spent was $5 on some axes for Kyle. While it sounds like of odd, Kyle has started refurbishing old axe heads and handles and he’s gotten pretty darn good at it.

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was obviously getting them back in the school routine. Norah has been a bit sad leaving Isla at school, but she’s getting used to it. Plus she started Kinder Ninja training yesterday, (think American Ninja Warrior) so she finally has her own activity to go to while her sister is at school.

Of course, here’s an obligatory “First Day Back” photo I snapped of both the girls:

A song that has been stuck in my head is none, actually! Thank goodness.

My notable meals of the week were my delicious lunch of spinach with cherry tomatoes, orzo, shredded mozzarella, and balsamic vinaigrette. SO GOOD. And you know, kind of healthy too because life’s all about balance and stuff. *snort*

My plans for the weekend are relaxing Saturday and then I’m heading to Sun Peaks on Sunday for the Dirty Feet Trail Race! It’ll be my first legit trail race so I’m curious to see how my time will compare to my road races. Wish me luck!

What are you plans for the weekend? Have you been enjoying the last bit of summer weather?

TGIF v.53

A high of the week was the wonderful weather we’ve been having! While it’s supposed to cool off today, the girls and I have been taking advantage of the heat and heading to the splash park and pool to cool down. The fresh air has been wonderful for them as well, so I have no complaints!

A low of the week was Campbell eating something in the backyard and he’s been hacking and gagging trying to cough it up for the past two days. It’s gross to listen to but I’m certain it’s nothing serious as he’s eating and drinking normally.

Also, our power went out for 6 hours Sunday night and the anxiety of wondering when it would come back on made me have the worst sleep ever.

An internet find I loved was Walk off the Earth’s acoustic version of Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You.” Their work is always amazing and this project did not disappoint! Video below. You’re welcome.

The best money I spent was on a new e-book. I just finished reading The Hate U Give (review goes up on Monday) so I decided to tackle something lighter and read When Life Gives You Lululemons. (Has anyone else read this one? Love it? Hate it?)

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was Isla “passing” her eye exam with flying colours! Our optometrist said her eyesight is excellent and she has no issues whatsoever with her sight, and Kyle and I couldn’t be happier!

A song that has been stuck in my head is “Baby Shark.” It’s silly and ridiculous and SO DANG CATCHY I CAN’T STAND IT.

My notable meals of the week were probably the Greek potatoes I made Wednesday for dinner. I’ve been hankering for them for a while now so I decided to brave the oven being on in the summer (thank goodness for air conditioning) and make them!

My plans for the weekend are resting up for the Kamloops Marathon on Sunday! It will be a family affair as Isla’s running the 3km distance, I’m doing the 8km, Kyle’s tackling the half-marathon, and Kyle’s stepdad will be shooting for a Boston Marathon qualifying time for the full marathon. Wish us luck!!

What are your weekend plans?

TGIF v.52

A high of the week was doing the Boogie the Bridge on Sunday, for sure! I seriously cannot rave enough about this fun community event and I’m already planning on stepping up my distance for next year.

A low of the week was non-existent! The sun has been shining and I have no complaints.

An internet find I loved was this video of a dolphin bodychecking a paddleboarder:

The best money I spent was on a prescription for over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream. Hurray for allergies!

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was being able to walk to get Isla from school and letting both her and Norah play on the playground to get some of the beans out. Norah just adores playing with Isla and all her friends, and some of them even have little siblings Norah’s age. Seeing their friendships develop is adorable.

Also, Norah put her bathing suit on at 7:30 in the morning on Tuesday – backwards. It was hilarious and impressive at the same time, and she reminded me of Borat, lol!

A song that has been stuck in my head is “No Excuses” by Meghan Trainor. I don’t even know why.

My notable meals of the week were the summer rolls I made for lunch on Tuesday. I made so dang many that I had them for lunch on Wednesday too.

My plans for the weekend are visiting with friends tonight, picking up a couple of games on slo-pitch on Saturday, going out for a birthday dinner and a movie Saturday night, and yoga Sunday morning!

Happy Friday, friends, and May the 4th be with you! ;)
