Ten on Tuesday

Hello boys and girls! Here’s another lovely Ten on Tuesday, brought to you by Chelsea at Roots and Rings!

1. What was your high school superlative (if you didn’t have one- what would it have been)?

First of all, I had to Google what that meant and after figuring it out, I really have no idea if I had one. I don’t even know what it would be today.

2. What sports did you play in high school?

I played volleyball for one season (We sucked horribly bad) and soccer every season.

3.  What was the best part about your wedding (if you’re not married yet, what are you looking forward to)?

I’m not married yet, but I have no idea what part I’m looking forward to. Probably marrying the love of my life! After that … the party! I like to through a good bash :)

4. It’s your last meal– what Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Entree and Dessert would you choose?

Appetizer: Mushrooms Neptune or Artichoke & Spinach Dip
Soup: My Grandma’s chicken soup
Salad: Greek salad, except for no peppers or onions and lots of cucumbers and olives.
Entrée: King Crab with Steak (medium rare), topped with mushrooms and Kelly O’Bryan’s Pachos on the side.
Dessert: Chocolate Tiramisu Cake. Hells yes.

5.  What song is your guilty pleasure?

Miley Cirus, “See You Again.” No lies. I really don’t like her music otherwise.

6.  What is your favourite professional sports team, and why do you like them?

The Vancouver Canucks (NHL). Why? Because they’re an awesome hockey team, despite the fact they haven’t won a Stanley Cup, and they really give back to the city they call home.

7.  What is your favourite reality show and why do you like it?

I really enjoy watching Survivor. The way people trick and lie to each other is rather amusing. I would probably lose my mind if I was on the show, but it would be fun.

8. How would you classify your home decorating style (modern, classic, French country)?

I would say I have modern tastes with a touch of Asian flare, but I really haven’t been able to put them to use yet. Once I have my own home though, that will be a different story!

9. Pizza- deep dish or thin crust? White sauce or red sauce? What toppings?

My favourite pizza has regular crust with tomato sauce, topped with feta, tomatoes, kalamata olives and red onions. Then I dip it in ranch dressing with Frank’s Red Hot sauce mixed in. Woot!

10.  Favourite weekend getaway within a two hour driving radius?

Probably to my hometown to visit my Grandma & Grandpa. As long as it’s in the summer. The Ashcroft heat is lovely in the summer :)

Ten on Tuesday

Here’s another edition of Ten on Tuesday, brought to you by Chelsea at Roots and Rings!

1. Do you prefer markers, crayons, or coloured pencils?

I outline with markers and fill everything in with coloured pencils. So much prettier! lol

2. As a child, how did your parents celebrate your birthday? (Parties, cake, you pick the dinner, etc.)

Parties with cake! We either had pizza or hot dogs to eat. There were a lot of inside games since it usually wasn’t quite warm enough to be outside.

3. How do you feel about leggings?

I think they’re silly, but maybe that’s because I have huge calves. I can’t wear skinny jeans because they’re too tight on my calves.

4. How do you prefer to follow directions? With a map? Words?

Usually I just print out the directions off of Google Maps and have a map in the backseat just in case. However, when Kyle and I went to Vancouver in March, we used a GPS and it was AWESOME. I may invest in one in the future.

5. What do you eat for snack?

It depends! I try to stay healthy and have some yogurt, an apple or orange. Sometimes I’ll have rice crackers, Triscuts or cookies. It really just revolves around what’s in the house.

6. Have you ever ordered anything from an infomercial or bought any As Seen on TV products?

I bought my dad a Sham-WOW for Christmas, but it was in Wal-Mart. I don’t think I’d ever call the 1-800 numbers. We also own a Magic Bullet (which is useless except to mash crackers for meatloaf) but it was given to Kyle as a Christmas present.

7. What’s your favourite thing about summer?

The long days. I love that it’s light out until 9pm.

8. Do you have a tattoo? What and where is it?

I have a few. I have four dog paw prints on my left calf, a sacred heart on my lower back, cherry blossoms going from my left hip to right shoulder and my Chinese name on the base of my neck.

9. Are you good at journaling?

You’d think that since I have a journalism degree that I would be, but other than blogging, I suck at it. (I’m taking the term “journaling” the same as writing in a diary. I think I’m a decent writer otherwise.)

10.  What’s your favourite way to eat a hamburger?

With my hands? Or ingredients? I’ll have mine with ketchup, mustard, Miracle Whip, lettuce, tomato, lettuce and onions please :)

~~

I promise tomorrow I’ll have a real post! The new job is going AMAZING so far :)

Ten on Tuesday

Here’s another edition of Ten on Tuesday, brought to you by Chelsea at Roots and Rings! These questions are extra special, as they were written up by yours truly! :D

1. Think back a decade, do you remember what your first cellphone was? Was it as cool as Zack Morris’s phone?

Not even close! Compared to phones today, my cell was an embarrassment:

I got it for Christmas in Grade 12 and used it until my first month of university. Then I started on a Family Plan with my dad and brother, so I got a “fancy” flip-phone. The great thing? My grandma has this exact same phone and it still works!

2. What is the first children’s book you remember being read to you?

My mom read to me all the time, but the books that stand out are the ones by Robert Munsch, Dr. Suess and the Berenstain Bears.

3. What was your first car? Did you love it or hate it?
It was a 1996 2-door Pontiac Sunfire. Colour? Beige! For the most part, I loved that car. For whatever reason I had always wanted a Sunfire and I was so happy that it was my first car. I only hated the fact that it didn’t have air conditioning. You kinda can’t live without that when you live in a desert!

4. Who was your hero growing up?

I really didn’t have one, but as I got older I realized that I really admire my grandparents. They’re both so amazing in so many ways. My grandma lives for her kids and grandkids and my grandpa is just an amazing man. He’s 72 and he still goes out and hunts every fall and is constantly working – be it in the yard or filling in at his old job.

5. Think back to your first kiss. Was it everything you dreamed of?

No. It was horrible! I think it was when I was in Grade 7, during some sort of school dance. Basically, it was forced upon me since all the other kids were kissing. It was awkward and everyone knew about it. FML.

6. What was your first BAD hairstyle choice? (Extra points for embarrassing photos)

When I was in Grade 9 I decided that I wanted super short hair. (My hair before the cut was below my shoulders) I decided that it would look the coolest if I used super strong gel and spike it. Yeah … bad decision! I was called a lesbian and had a sandwich thrown at me. :( I think I kept it for just under a year and got it fixed during Spring Break when I went to Palm Springs. Never again!

This is the best I could do for a photo; I guess I was in that “I’m a teenager, don’t take my picture!” phase.  I was feeling too lazy to scan. Ignore the devil horns, it was Halloween and I was answering the door for my Grandma.

7. What was your first realistic dream? (One where you had to think “Oh dang, was that a dream?”)

I was really little (Maybe 3 or 4?) and I was terribly ill with the flu. I had a nightmare where monsters opened a portal in my wall and tried to convince me to come with them. I had never been so terrified in my life!

8. What was the first phobia you remember developing?

It was probably spiders. We get huge, ugly puff spiders and disgusting, fast wolf-ish spiders a lot. My dad used to let me kill them with a blow-torch. Ha!

9. Which character on Sesame Street do you most identify with?

I’ve been called Snufflufagas before, probably because I mope the same way he does, lol. Or The Count. Because I love to count! AH AH AH! (Kidding)

10. What was the hardest goal you ever accomplished?

I’ve never really set a goal, such as “I will do ___ by ___.” I guess finishing my degree was a big goal, considering I was on academic probation after my first semester. It was tough!
