Ten on Tuesday

1. What is your favourite kind of cheese?

Provolone picante! It’s so smelly, but we fry it up, squeeze a little lemon juice on it, and DEVOUR! It’s our little “once in a while” treat.

2. Do you prefer fudge with or without nuts?

Without! Fudge is delicious just as it is.

3. How do you feel about cats?

I love them, but I’m allergic :( And it’s not even minor allergies. I’ll sneeze non-stop, my eyes burn, I bust out in hives sometimes too. It’s awful!

4. Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts?

I’ll have to go with Julia. She’s so classy!

5. Do you wear a watch?

Only to work. My Job #1 watch is a “grown-up” watch and is a little flashy, and my Job #2 watch is a Timex so I can clock my coffee & lunch breaks.

6. What are a few of your favourite songs from the 90′s?

“Quit Playing Games” by the Backstreet Boys (Don’t laugh!) Haha, it plays on the radio at Job #2 quite often and my co-workers and I will bust out into song. Priceless moments! It helps that I loved BSB when I was young too.

7. Do you like scented candles?

I like smelling them, but I have maybe two candles in my house that I only light when there’s a blackout. I guess I’m not a candle person.

8. What do you like on your hamburger?

Mustard, ketchup, Miracle Whip, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles.

9. How often do you cut your fingernails?

When they get too long and start to bother me. Every couple weeks or so?

10. Do you sleep in socks?

No. They’re uncomfortable under the covers.

1. What do you order at Starbucks?

‘Tis the season to order Egg Nog Lattes! When they’re not in season though, I order vanilla lattes.

2. Where is your favourite place to eat breakfast?

There’s this place that Kyle’s uncle introduced to us called Scott’s. It’s attached to a local motel and the food is SO homemade and delicious! The portions are HUGE and I can never finish my breakfast!

3. Are you on Twitter? Why or why not?

I am. Mel suckered me into it a while ago, and I’ve been addicted ever since.  (Request to follow (@KaraChow!)

4. What is your favorite Christmas movie?

A Muppet Family Christmas! I’ve been trying SO hard to find it on DVD, but no luck! It’s the one where all the Muppets from all the different shows get snowed-in at Fozzie Bear’s Mom’s place. It’s seriously my favourite.

5. Are you a good gift giver?

I really try to be. I always try to give something that the person asked for as well as something meaningful and thoughtful.

6. Do you like your handwriting? Bonus points for posting a picture.

When I’m not rushing, I like my handwriting. No photos today since I’m typing this at work. Ha!

7. Is your signature legible? Bonus points for posting a picture.

Sort of. Again, no photos, but it kind of looks like it says “Ken Chu”. On a random sidenote: I’ve already been practicing my signature for when I change my name after getting married, lol.

8. Have you ever been to New York during Christmas season?

Being that I’m from the opposite side of the continent AND from Canada (with no passport), I’m going to say no. Would I want to? Maybe!

9. Are there any items that you are completely brand loyal?

Sharpie. They are the only way to go for permanent markers.

10. Who is your favourite public speaker?

I can’t say I have one … so I’ll say Morgan Freeman. I could listen to his voice all. day. long.

1. What are your plans for the holidays? Do you travel at Thanksgiving? If you celebrate Christmas, do you travel then, too?

Since us Canadian have already celebrated our Thanksgiving, I’ll describe what my Christmas plans will probably be: Three turkey dinners. Kyle’s mom will cook one, my my will cook one, and my dad will possibly cook one. We’ll also maybe travel to Ashcroft to visit Kyle’s dad and grandma.

2. How do you make the plans for the holiday? If you have a significant other, how do you decide which family to visit?

We try to visit everyone! For whatever reason, the turkey dinners never seem to overlap.

3. Do you have your Thanksgiving meal at lunch or later in the day?

We always have ours at “normal” dinner time hours, so 6 p.m. or so.

4. Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

We don’t have any traditions, other than eating turkey, lol.

5. After a big meal do you lounge around or get up and take a walk?

We lounge around, get sleepy, and let dinner digest!

6. Do you shop on “Black Friday” or do you avoid it?

We don’t have Black Friday in Canada! But we do have Boxing Day, which is the day after Christmas and kind of the same, and I avoid that. (Really, you should check out this post by Amber on our whacky Canadian holidays!)

7. When do you usually finish your Christmas shopping?

I have a feeling this year is going to be all last minute shopping, because right now, all I have is wedding planning on the brain!

8. Do you and your significant other exchange gifts? Is there a budget?

We do. We try to set a budget; usually we try not to spend more than $200 on each other, but that’s always blown.

9. When do you decorate for the holidays?

Usually the second week of December. December 1st seems too eager and soon, so the 2nd week works for me! That, and my tree will last longer. (I always get a real tree!)

10. Do you go “all out” with the decor or do you keep it simple?

I keep it very simple. I hate when it looks like Christmas threw up in/on a house. And I think it would drive Kyle crazy if I decorated too much! lol
