33 Weeks and a Birthday Message

Dear Baby,

Today is my birthday, and soon, you’ll have one too. I don’t care what day you choose to have your birthday on, just as long as you’re ready to meet the world. I will admit to you that if you’re a couple days early and arrive on your uncle’s birthday, I would be pretty amused.

I promise to you that on your birthday on this, all of your needs, wants and desires will be granted. Except for if you want a cat. Mommy is allergic, so unfortunately that’s just not posible. Nor is a pony. Mommy is afraid of those. But I promise you that you’ll always be fed, clothed and loved by me and your Daddy. I hope that having you when I’m 26-years-old gives me enough life experience to raise you to be an amazing human being.

Even though today is suppose to be “my” day, I just can’t stop thinking of you. How is it that in 7 weeks (if you’re right on time) we’ll finally meet? It seems like just yesterday your Daddy and I learned that you would be coming along. Oh how time flies, and I’m sure it’s not going to slow down anytime soon. I just hope I can keep up with you!

So Happy Birthday to me, and soon, Happy Birthday to you.

How far along? 33 weeks!

How big is baby? About 4.2lbs and 17″ long from head to toe, according to BabyCentre.ca.

Total weight gain/loss: About 2lbs I think. Eek!

Maternity Clothes? I’m still wearing the same ol’ stuff! I believe my mom is going to take me shopping for my birthday, so I’ll finally be able to pick up some (more) new clothes. It seems like it never ends!!

Stretch marks? Still none, which leads me to believe that if they haven’t happened by now, they’re not happening at all. (Although my fingers are still crossed and I’m knocking on wood!)

Sleep: Ugh. I’m sooooo uncomfortable these days. My hips are starting to ache all the time, and most nights I’m still waking up sweating to death. Also – it seems that no matter what I do, I’m now waking up in the middle of the night with wicked heartburn. Not fair.

Movement: Still lots! She’s a little motor machine in there, and sometimes she hits me in just the right spot where it hurts like hell!

Food cravings: Nothing too crazy lately.

What I miss: A good night’s sleep. I’m pretty sure I’ve said this for the majority of my pregnancy, but seriously. I MISS GOOD SLEEP! And it’s only going to get worse :(

What I am looking forward to: Some form of solid, non-sweaty, non-achy sleep. Preferably laying flat on my stomach. That is all.

Milestones: I did my very first bit of baby clothes shopping online the other day on Carters.com. I’m pretty excited for everything to arrive!

32 Weeks

How far along? 32 Weeks!

How big is baby? About 3.75lbs and 17″ long, according to BabyCentre.ca.

Total weight gain/loss: I haven’t gained anything significant in the past week. (Yay?)

Maternity Clothes? I’m in desperate need of summer clothing still! Also, I’m thinking it’s time to buy nursing bras, or at least comfortable bras. I’m not 100% sure, but I’m thinking the underwire in my regular bra is rubbing my skin funny because of my baby bump. It’s extremely uncomfortable and now the first thing I do when I get home from work/wherever is take my bra off. I’d rather not be a hippie.

Stretch marks? None! I still think Kyle is full of it when he says he sees stretchmarks.

Sleep: It comes and goes …

Movement: Still lots! As it turns out, what I thought was the baby just pressing her bum out in the air is actually Braxton Hicks contractions (or Briggs and Stratton, as Kyle likes to call them). They are quite uncomfortable, but at least I know that’s what’s going on.

Food cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary.

What I miss: Sleeping comfortably. I miss it sooooo much.

What I am looking forward to: My glider and ottoman should be arriving this week! I’m pretty excited about it!

Milestones: Kyle starting putting the closet doors and shelving back into the baby’s room last week, so we’re hoping to get that done this week. I also decided which diapering option I’m going to go with finally. I’ll probably post about this in the future!

31 Weeks and the Painting is Done

After being primed for two months, the baby’s room is FINALLY done being painted!!

In case you missed the post a few weeks ago, my Grandpa came over to help Kyle and I paint the baby’s room. My mom and I had originally started the room back in February when we primed the walls for real paint. As a refresher of what it looked like before, here’s a photo:

That there is some scary shiz.

So, after three months, two coats of primer, and two coats of paint later, the baby’s room is finally done being painted!

(Pardon the painting supplies I’ve yet to clear out of the room)

I am SOOOO happy with the way it turned out! There’s a couple of spots that need to be touched up, but other than that, I am in love with my baby’s future room :)

I seriously can’t thank my Grandpa enough for helping Kyle and I paint the room. It seriously means the world to me that he wanted to help, because I know my Grandma would be so excited to see it all done. He was there the day before she passed away, the day after, and the day after her Celebration of Life to get the painting done. He is a dedicated man in every way, shape, and form. Seriously, my hero.

And now that the painting is all done, I finally feel a little better about the baby coming in just 9 weeks! (If she’s actually on time) I can’t wait to get the baby furniture in the room when it arrives in about a month. It’s finally starting to feel real.

So, now to the questions of the week:

How far along? 31 Weeks

How big is baby? She’s about 3.3lbs and approximately 16″ long, according to BabyCentre.ca.

Total weight gain/loss: I’m about 140lbs, so I’ve gained about 20/25lbs depending on the way you look at it. (I lost 5lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight during the first trimester)

Maternity Clothes? The weather is starting to warm up quite a bit so some “spring/summer” shopping is going to be needed soon. Pants are getting to be a little bit too warm. You’d think I’d be excited to shop, but I freakin’ HATE how much maternity clothing is.

Stretch marks? No actual stretch marks, although Kyle SWEARS he seen one the other day, but it’s gone now. I’m pretty sure it was a weird pant line or something. Sucker! I do, however, have a little bit of a vertical stretch mark from my belly button to my pelvis. (There’s a name for it, I just can’t remember what it’s called.) That one doesn’t bother me as much as actual stretch marks would.

Sleep: I wake up a lot in the middle of the night just sweating to death, it’s awful. I’m so glad I’m not going to be pregnant in the middle of the summer heat!

Movement: She’s been moving A LOT lately, and it seems to go on for quite a while. She really likes to move around when I’m driving (maybe it’s the music in my car?) and when I’m watching TV (especially if the show has gun fire or violence, lol).

Food cravings: Saturday night I went to the pub to watch the UFC event and normally I order nachos about 1/2 way through the night. I opted not to this time around and the table behind me ordered some … OMG THE SMELL! I’m totally kicking myself for not ordering any now. Who wants to bring me a plate of nachos?

What I miss: Being comfortable. It’s getting harder and harder to be in a comfortable position, be it while standing, sitting or whatever. And now I’ve started the “waddle” when I walk, mostly because my hips hurt so damn much some days. Oh well – only 9 weeks to go, and I’ll have a whole new can of things to miss!

What I am looking forward to: Baby’s furniture arriving, as well as the glider Kyle ordered for me. I’m also getting really antsy to shop for baby clothing. I’ve starting browsing stores online and using all my willpower to Pin my finds instead of buying them! You can check out all the cuteness on my Pinterest board here.

Milestones: Finishing the paint in the baby’s room, waiting on the baby furniture to arrive. Soon we will be trying to install the car seat base into my car! (This may or may not be a challenge!)
