Day 12

Something I Believe

There’s a lot of things I believe in.

I believe that something happens to you after you die, I just don’t know what. I’m not a religious person, but I won’t say that there isn’t a God. That I don’t know. But I know know that there has to be something more to death than just a long nap.

I believe that you should treat other people the way you want to be treated. I’ve been told this since I was little.

I believe that you should not just other people because they may be different; that you should accept people for who they are no matter what they believe in.

That being said, there’s a lot of things that I don’t believe in.

I don’t believe that murders, rapists and child molesters should ever be allowed to see the light of day ever again. if/when they are caught.

I don’t believe that we are the only ones in the universe.

I don’t believe that if there is a God, that He would make people suffer through illnesses such as cancer, ALS or the like. Why pray to God to get better if He’s the one who put you in that situation?

I suppose those are all touchy subjects, but finally, I do believe that we are all entitled to our own opinions, as long as we can argue for our thoughts.

Tomorrow: Goals

Ten on Tuesday

1. Who makes your Thanksgiving dinner?

This may sound gluttonous, but I usually have two or three Thanksgiving dinners. My Mom usually makes one and Kyle’s Mom will make one as well, usually a few days apart. My Dad sometimes makes one too, but usually he saves all his turkey cooking strength for Christmas dinner. The best thing about having three dinners? They all make different kinds of stuffing! Nom.

2. What is your favourite recipe the includes pumpkin? (bonus points for including the recipe)

Pumpkin pie, which I’ve yet to have this holiday season!

3. What are 5 things you want for Christmas?

A wireless network connector for my XBox, a DSL camera, books … I really don’t want much.

4. Does your family draw names or do you buy for everyone?

On my side of the family we buy for everyone, but on Kyle’s side, we draw names.

5. How do you feel about motorcycles?

They scare me. I’ve never really ridden on one, and the one time I tried to drive a dirt bike, I nearly crashed. I’m a little scarred I suppose.

6. What’s your favourite thing to do on a rainy Saturday?

Watch movies or read a book.

7. What is the coolest thing to do in your city?

There is ALWAYS something to do, at least touristy-wise. Ski hills, hiking trails, outdoor activities, special events … there always seems to be something going on.

8. Do you paint your fingernails?

No, but I paint my toenails.

9. Who is your favourite actor over the age of 50?

Morgan Freeman

10. Do you have a high school letter jacket?

No, my high school definitely didn’t have letter jackets.

Eyes, Don’t Fail Me Now

I have had amazing 20/20 or better vision all my life. My eye doctor was always impressed with my amazing ability to see things far away and I must admit, it was fun to brag. Kyle, our (old) roommate and his girlfriend all wear glasses/contacts. I enjoyed not having to whine about my eyes being dry or tired because of the lenses. I would brag about becoming a fighter pilot because of my awesome vision. But …

The other day I was playing my new video game like the nerd I am and had a hard time reading the print on the screen. I figured my eyes were just tired – yup, just tired. It was fairly late in the evening, so I figured I just needed to go to bed. However, the next day, the words on the screen were still a little blurry. Aww, shit. I asked Kyle if they looked blurry to him, and he said no. Double shit. Now I’m contemplating going to the eye doctor to find out if my beautiful 20/20 vision is finally failing me.

Believe me – I didn’t think it would last forever. Both of my parents wear corrective lenses. My mom for distance, my dad all the time, so I knew it would only be a matter of time before I had to get them. I just thought it would last a little longer. I don’t think I look good in glasses. My biggest fear is that the only ones that will look good on me are the black-rimmed ones that all the Asian kids wear. *sigh* We’ll see I guess.
